Abstract

Supercapacitors have attracted considerable attention as energy storage devices owing to their high power density, rapid charge–discharge capability, and long cycle life. However, the electrochemical performance of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) is limited by the restacking phenomenon, which decreases the active surface area and restricts electrolyte ion diffusion. This study investigates the effect of silver (Ag) nanoparticle deposition on the stability of rGO electrodes using an electrodeposition method. Ag nanoparticles were deposited from a 5 mM AgNO₃ solution and the resulting electrodes were characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Their electrochemical performance was evaluated using Cyclic Voltammetry (CV) and cycling stability tests up to 1,000 cycles. SEM analysis confirmed the successful and relatively homogeneous distribution of Ag nanoparticles on the rGO surface. The electrochemical results showed that the rGO/Ag electrode retained approximately 96–97% of its initial capacitance after 1,000 cycles, whereas the pristine rGO electrode retained only about 69%. These findings demonstrate that Ag deposition effectively enhances the structural stability and electrochemical performance of rGO electrodes, indicating their potential for high-performance supercapacitor applications.

Abstract

Supercapacitors have attracted considerable attention as energy storage devices due to their high power density, rapid charge-discharge capability, and long cycle life. However, the relatively low capacitance of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) limits its electrochemical performance when used as a single electrode material. This study aimed to investigate the effect of polyaniline (PANI) deposition on rGO electrodes through an electrochemical deposition method using a 5 mM aniline solution. The rGO electrode was first prepared on a stainless-steel substrate, followed by PANI deposition using cyclic voltammetry within a potential window of −0.4 to +0.4 V at a scan rate of 100 mV s⁻¹ for 10 cycles. The electrochemical performance of the fabricated electrodes was evaluated by cyclic voltammetry and cycling stability tests up to 1000 cycles. The cyclic voltammogram of the rGO/PANI electrode maintained a quasi-rectangular profile, indicating that the electrochemical deposition process produced an active electrode capable of charge storage. The specific capacitance of the rGO/PANI electrode reached 308.87 F g⁻¹, which was higher than that of pristine rGO at 240.88 F g⁻¹. Furthermore, the rGO/PANI electrode retained 67% of its initial capacitance after 1000 cycles, whereas pristine rGO retained only 49%. These results indicate that the incorporation of PANI improved both the specific capacitance and cycling stability of the electrode. The findings demonstrate that electrochemically deposited PANI is a promising approach for enhancing the electrochemical performance of rGO-based supercapacitor electrodes.

Abstract

Mathematics is frequently regarded as a demanding discipline due to its abstract concepts, which are hard for students to grasp visually. Therefore, the implementation of proper learning media is necessary to help students build a deeper understanding of abstract mathematical concepts, particularly in quadrilaterals, enabling these concepts to be comprehended more concretely. The present study seeks to examine the effect of mobile-based ethnomathematics learning media on students' mathematics achievement in the topic of plane figures at SMP Negeri 1 Botupingge. A quasi-experimental approach using a Pre-test–Post-test Control Group Design was applied, with 38 students as the research sample, consisting of class VII C assigned the experimental group and class VII A allocated to the control group, identified through a cluster random sampling approach. The experimental group utilized mobile-based ethnomathematics media combined with the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model, whereas the control group used PowerPoint media with the same PBL model. Data was carried out by administering pre-tests and post-tests in essay form to assess students' mathematics achievement on quadrilaterals. The findings reveal that mobile-based ethnomathematics learning media significantly improves students' mathematics achievement, making learning more relevant to students' local life and culture.

Abstract

This research investigates the optimization of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) based on  by engineering the active layer interface using a binary composite of Reduced Graphene Oxide (rGO) and Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) polymer co-additive. The background of this study addresses the low long-term stability and high charge recombination challenges in PSCs despite their high potential as a next-generation photovoltaic technology. The fabrication method involved sequential solution deposition steps on Fluorine-doped Tin Oxide (FTO) substrates, with rGO:PEG weight ratios varied at 2:1, 1:1, and 1:2. Photovoltaic testing under a sun simulator revealed that interface modification significantly boosts efficiency compared to the pristine control device. The experimental findings demonstrate that the balanced ratio of rGO:PEG (1:1) achieves the peak Power Conversion Efficiency (PCE) of 5.43%, driven by a massive surge in short-circuit current density () to 9.78 . This study implies that precision stoichiometric control of rGO-polymer co-additives provides a powerful synergistic strategy to enhance charge extraction and maximize the performance of inorganic perovskite solar cells.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the concept of integers contained in three cultural elements of the Ende community, namely the Tu Ngawu traditional ceremony (antar belis), the Gawi traditional dance, and Ende ikat weaving, and to use them as the basis for compiling local wisdom-based Student Worksheets (LKPD). The research was motivated by students' low understanding of the concept of integers, especially operations on negative numbers, as well as the limited teaching materials that integrate local Ende culture. The study used a qualitative approach with an exploratory research type. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with two informants and documentation, then analyzed descriptively-interpretively. The results show that Tu Ngawu contains the concept of positive and negative integers, and the balance of debt and receivables; the Gawi dance represents integers through forward-backward movements; while Ende ikat weaving contains the concept of integers in thread counting, motif patterns, and numbering of motif positions. Based on these findings, a local wisdom-based LKPD was compiled as a contextual integer learning medium for students in Ende Regency.

Abstract

Indigenous bacteria are microorganisms that naturally live and adapt to specific environments, making them unique to that area. In bioremediation, these bacteria play a crucial role due to their ability to degrade various environmental contaminants, such as the pesticide profenofos left in the soil. This ability makes indigenous bacteria effective and cost-efficient agents in addressing environmental pollution, highlighting their importance in agricultural land recovery research. The aim of this study is to isolate and identify indigenous bacteria from soil exposed to profenofos pesticide and analyze them descriptively. The study is divided into several stages: sample collection, isolation using Nitrate Minerals Salts (NMS) medium, ability testing using Muller Hilton Agar (MHA) medium, characterization, Gram staining, and biochemical testing. The results revealed that 8 isolates have potential as bioremediation agents for soil contaminated with profenofos. In the ability test against the pesticide, the antibacterial inhibition of profenofos was categorized into four levels: weak, moderate, strong, and very strong. The results showed that the isolate with the code BIPC 8 had the highest clear zone diameter of 32.95 mm, indicating a very strong ability. Out of the 8 isolates, 7 were categorized as strong and 1 as very strong, showing potential to reduce profenofos residues in the soil. The identified genera of these isolates include Nitrosoccocus, Bacillus, Pseudomonas, and Rhodococcus. In conclusion, indigenous bacteria are capable of degrading profenofos pesticide.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of implementing the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model integrated with the Microsite S.id platform on students' mathematics learning outcomes in the topic of Systems of Linear Equations in Two Variables (SPLDV) among ninth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Botupingge. The study was motivated by students' low understanding of linear equation concepts, the continued use of conventional teaching methods, and the limited utilization of interactive digital learning media. A quantitative approach was employed using a quasi-experimental method with a Pretest–Posttest Control Group Design. The sample consisted of an experimental class that received PBL supported by Microsite S.id and a control class that received PBL supported by Microsoft PowerPoint. Data were collected through pretests and posttests and analyzed using the Independent Samples t-test and effect size analysis. The results indicated that the calculated t-value (8.0131) was higher than the critical t-table value (1.688), demonstrating a statistically significant difference between the two groups. Furthermore, the effect size value of 2.6025 indicated a very large practical effect. These findings suggest that the Problem-Based Learning model integrated with Microsite S.id is more effective in improving students' mathematics learning outcomes than PBL supported by Microsoft PowerPoint while promoting more interactive, contextual, and problem-solving-oriented learning experiences.

Abstract

Belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) is a medicinal plant known to contain various secondary metabolites, particularly flavonoids, which possess potential biological activities. This study aimed to isolate flavonoid compounds from the ethanol extract of belimbing wuluh fruit and determine the total flavonoid content. The research was conducted through sample preparation, ethanol extraction by maceration, solvent evaporation, liquid-liquid fractionation using n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and water, followed by phytochemical separation using column chromatography, preparative thin-layer chromatography, and two-dimensional thin-layer chromatography. The isolated fraction was further analyzed, and the total flavonoid content was determined using UV-Visible spectrophotometry with quercetin as the reference standard. The extraction process produced an extract yield of 22.70%, while solvent evaporation resulted in a concentrated extract with a yield of 8.8%. Fractionation indicated that the polar fraction was obtained in the highest proportion. Column chromatography generated 50 fractions with different color characteristics, indicating successful separation of compounds based on polarity. Thin-layer chromatography showed an Rf value of 0.4 in the ethyl acetate mobile phase, while preparative and two-dimensional thin-layer chromatography produced a single dominant band, suggesting a relatively pure isolate. The UV-Visible analysis showed excellent linearity and revealed a total flavonoid content of 230.76 mg QE/g or 23.08%, exceeding the minimum quality standard. These findings demonstrate that belimbing wuluh fruit is a promising natural source of flavonoids and has potential for further pharmaceutical and phytochemical development.

Abstract

Land-use simplification may alter soil biological quality by reducing vegetation diversity, organic matter inputs, and habitat availability for soil microorganisms. This study aimed to analyze soil bacterial populations, fungal populations, and microbial biomass carbon under complex agroforestry, simple agroforestry, and cocoa monoculture systems around Lore Lindu National Park, Central Sulawesi. Soil samples were systematically collected from five sampling points within each land-use system at a depth of 0–20 cm. Culturable bacterial and fungal populations were determined using serial dilution and total plate count methods, while microbial biomass carbon was measured using chloroform fumigation extraction. Data were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance followed by the Least Significant Difference test at the 5% significance level. Land-use type significantly affected all measured biological parameters. Complex agroforestry produced the highest bacterial population, fungal population, and microbial biomass carbon, reaching 9.08 × 10⁸ CFU g⁻¹, 6.84 × 10⁵ CFU g⁻¹, and 822.80 mg C kg⁻¹, respectively. Simple agroforestry showed intermediate values, whereas cocoa monoculture produced the lowest values. These findings demonstrate that greater vegetation complexity supports soil microbial abundance and biomass by providing diverse organic substrates and more stable microenvironmental conditions. Maintaining shade-tree diversity in cocoa agroforestry is therefore important for conserving soil biological quality in the buffer zone of Lore Lindu National Park.

Abstract

Due to global food issues, alternative sources are needed to replace oil such as vegetable and animal oils to produce oil-based products. However, increasing issues about animal-derived products are becoming an environmental problem. Yellow mealworm as a potential source of oil, has attracted the interest of researchers due to its ability to accumulate fat by feeding on organic waste. This study investigates the effect of variation in petroleum ether solvent ratio and extraction time on the yield, acid number and water content of Yellow mealworm. The variations of the ratio of caterpillar and solvent used were 1:6, 1:8, and 1:10, with extraction time of 5, 6, and 8 hours at 65°C. The best results of this study showed that the ratio of caterpillar and solvent 1:10 with extraction time of 8 hours produced the highest oil yield of 15% with FFA content of 6.88%. Extraction using the soxhletation method with petroleum ether solvent can reduce the water content from 80% to 0.21%.
