Abstract

Abstract

The evolution of technology led to rapid changes that affected both organizations and employees. Employability was a term to describe a continuum process of fulfilling the skills and expertise that also changed rapidly. One’s behavior in crafting a job could lead to one’s employability. Organizational climate, which in this study was the creative climate, had a moderating role in affecting the job creation toward employability. This study aimed to explain the role of job crafting in predicting employability in government institution X and creative climate as the moderator. The quantitative approach was applied to this research, by distributing Employability Scale (α = 0.937), Job Crafting Scale (α=0.922), and Creative Climate Scale (α=0.950) to 129 employees of government institution X. The study showed that job crafting significantly predicted the employability (R2 = 56.7%; p = 0.000, p < 0.05) along with creative climate lessened the prediction of job crafting to employability (p = 0.027, p < 0.05). Thus, the hypothesis in this study was accepted. Therefore, it was worth noting that job crafting had benefits for employees’ employability with a constructive, suitable organizational climate.

Abstract

Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS) the fifth wave used the Centre for Epidemiological Studies Scale (CES-D10) to measure mental health state, which was depressive symptoms construct. It was primarily used in some studies regarding depressive symptoms. However, there was no specific validation research in the Indonesian context. Thus, this study aimed to (1) investigate the item quality of depressive symptom measurement from IFLS fifth wave, (2) measurement precision of this scale, and (3) the measurement invariance based on gender using the IRT approach. This study used data from ILFS-5 in the KP ("Keadaan Psikologis" or Mental Health) section, which was CES-D10 consisting of 10 items and conduct IRT analysis using a 2-PL model. The number of participants from the data was 31,447. CFA analysis resulted a unidimensional model fit for this scale. Moreover, finding showed that this scale had good psychometric properties, including item discrimination, item location, and item fit, except item 5 and item 8. Despite the poor quality for those items, the reliability coefficient, including the items, met a reliable measurement criterion. Also, this scale had much information for assessing medium and severe depressive symptoms. Moreover, the Differential Item Functioning (DIF) analysis indicated that there was no item exhibiting DIF.

Abstract

Novice stock investors tend to make investment decisions based on their emotions, so they usually have lower performance. Emotions can affect decision-making through immediate emotions (emotional states) and expected emotions (emotional consequences). Happy and sad are the strongest emotions. Therefore, this research aims to examine and explain the effect of emotional states, specifically happy and sad, on novice stock investors' purchase decision-making. This research uses the experiment method, with 30 novice stock investors divided into three groups (two experimental and one control group). The result shows no effect between happy and sad emotional states on purchase decision-making (p > 0,05). The result is caused by participants' tendencies to make rational decisions for the highest utility. The higher the utility they get, the happier they will be, and vice versa. Thus, happy and sad emotions act as expected emotions, not as immediate emotions in decision-making.

Abstract

Being exceedingly social creatures, each and every decision that an individual human makes carries with it consequences and risks that may endanger not only themselves (intrapersonal harm), but also others (interpersonal harm). This experiment (N = 215 undergraduates; 63.36% female; Mage = 21.86, SD = 2.56) compared the impact of contextual harm on emotions of regret and guilt, and examined whether the role of a trait-relevant predictor in the form of mindfulness on regret/guilt could be explained by tendency of being under-engaged (trait alexithymia) and over-engaged (trait rumination) of affective experiences. In line with our predictions, (i) interpersonal harm aroused more guilt than intrapersonal harm, but the levels of regret between the two contexts were not unalike; (ii) mindfulness negatively correlated with alexithymia, rumination, regret, and guilt; and (iii) after controlling for type of harm, the relation between mindfulness and regret/guilt was mediated by alexithymia and rumination. Although guilt depends heavily on interpersonal context while regret is induced more globally, mindfulness inversely predicts the levels of both emotions through alexithymia and rumination

Abstract

Abstract
