Journal of Language Development and Linguistics (JLDL) is a quarterly, double-blind peer reviewed journal which publishes original research papers in the field of language development and Linguistics. Studies which take a descriptive approach to the nature of language acquisition and development are also welcome. Journal JLDL publishes articles in February and September.

Abstract

The causative construction of the Simalungun language can be produced by combining clauses with cause / baen conjunctions, the use of causative analytic with permanent verbs, all; morphological causative use with (–kon) affixes; and the selection of certain lexical causative verbs that have causative meaning. The method used is the marking method applied in analyzing research data based on the problems discussed in this article. This causative construction of Simalungun Batak language can be explained through morphosyntax parameters.

Abstract

常高俊April is one of the information dissemination accounts that contains a lot of deixis on Weibo. With the different contexts and situations of the author and reader, the meaning of deixis is also different. This study aims to find out the types and the meaning of deixis contained in 常高俊April account uploads. This study used qualitative descriptive methods with data in the form of words contained in 常高俊April account uploads. The results of this study showed that there are five types of deixis in 常高俊April account uploads, namely persona deixis, place deixis, time deixis, social deixis and discourse deixis. In addition, this study shows that the meaning of words whose references change can be known by paying attention to the context of speech.

Abstract

This thesis is entitled "The Old Village of Bius Tipang, Baktiraja District, Humbang Hasundutan Regency: Anthropology Studies". This study aims to describe Horja and Bius, 1) the form of the Bius Tipang village, the social values and norms that exist in the Bius Tipang Old Village. The method used in this research is the qualitative method. The results obtained from this study, namely the anthropological values that exist in the old village of Bius Tipang are: (1) The community believes that there is a fence that protects them from harm or evil intentions. (2) the existence of bamboo which has the power which is believed to be the guardian of the village.

Abstract

This study discusses the preservation of the Toba Batak language in Narumonda VII Village, Siantar Narumonda District, Toba Regency. The problem studied is the preservation of the Toba Batak language in Narumonda VII Village based on its bilingual pattern and the attitude of the Toba ethnic community in maintaining their language. The background of this research is to see the role of the use of the Toba Batak language as a regional language and Indonesian as the national language in an area where the majority of the population is Toba Batak ethnicity.The method used in collecting data is the conversational method to-face and followed by the note-taking technique. Data was obtained by distributing questionnaires to respondents. This research data assessment method uses quantitative methods. The data were analyzed using sociolinguistic theory. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the pattern of using the Toba Batak language at the age of over 20 years (adults) is still high compared to the use of the Toba Batak language at the age of under 20 years. At the age of 20 years and over, Toba Batak language users showed positive language attitudes (85%), while those under 20 years old showed negative language attitudes (10.5%).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan nama dan bentuk ornamen yang ada pada bagas godang, fungsi dan maknanya, juga mendeskripsikan nilai-nilai kearifan lokal. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah teori kearifan lokal yang diungkap Sibarani (2012). Adapun metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan hasil pendeskripsian yang dapat penulis simpulkan adapun hasil yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini adalah (1) terdapat 58 bentuk ornamen yang ditemukan, (2) terdapat 58 fungsi dan makna yang terkandung dalam ornamen yang ditemukan, (3) terdapat dua jenis kearfan lokal dalam ornamen bagas godang yaitu: kearifan lokal kedamaian dan kesejahteraan. Dalam kedua jenis kearifan lokal tersebut ada 15 nilai kearfan lokal yang terkandung yakni: kesopansantunan, kejujuran, kesetiakawanan sosial, kerukunan dan penyelesaian konflik, komitmen, pikiran positif, rasa syukur, kerja keras, disiplin, pendidikan, kesehatan, gotong royong, pengelolaan gender, pelestarian dan kreativitas budaya dan peduli lingkungan.

Abstract

Dalam penelitian ini penulis membahas tentang Tradisi Permainan Rakyat Pada Etnik Batak Toba: Kajian Kearifan Lokal. Masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah jenis permainan rakyat yang terdapat pada masyarakat Batak Toba, bagaimana cara memainkan permainan rakyat pada masyarakat Batak Toba, dan nilai kearifan lokal dalam permainan rakyat Masyarakat Batak Toba. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis permainan rakyat, cara memainkan permainan rakyat pada masyarakat Batak Toba, serta nilai kearifan lokal yang terdapat pada permainan rakyat pada masyarakat Batak Toba. Metode yang dipergunakan dalam menganalisis masalah penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dan teknik penelitian lapangan. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori kearifan lokal salah satunya adalah pendapat sibarani. Adapun permainan rakyat yaitu: mardideng, pocca piring, rondang bintang, jembatan tapanuli, marsigala, marsukkil, marsir, marsitekka, marbatu bulu, margejak, marbintang, mandadap dekke ,martunjang, marlange-lange, marlumbung, marsiada, marroda, markelinci dan mariye-iye. Nilai kearifan lokal pada permaianan rakyat ini ini meliputi nilai kerukunan dan penyelesaian konflik, kejujuran, pikiran positif, kerja keras, gotong royong, pengelolan gender dan cinta budaya.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the reading ability of PPG students during the COVID-19 pandemic through the SIMPKB application which is connected to zoom and google meet. The research design used in this study was classroom action with four stages. While quantitative data came from students' reading texts before and after the test, qualitative data was collected through interviews and field notes from tutors. By compiling the data, categorizing the data, developing interpretations, and summarizing the findings, then the qualitative data is evaluated. Meanwhile, descriptive quantitative analysis was used to analyze quantitative data. The results showed that the students had mastered the skills to identify the main concepts, draw conclusions, and separate certain information from the text. In addition, they see SIMPKB as a supportive and flexible learning instrument. To ensure that SIMPKB is functioning properly, the PPG admin discusses how to improve the reading comprehension process of students through careful thinking, planning, and reflection. Statistical analysis of the students' pre and post test scores showed an increase from 66.9 to 86.9. The average post-test score for students is higher than the pre-test score. This study found that the ease of use of the SIMPKB program and the ability of tutors and lecturers to track student progress during the learning process helped students learn to read well.

Abstract

Tulisan ini ini diberi judul “fungsi dan nilai-nilai kearifan lokal pada olop-olop bolon pada masyarakat beragama malim di pelabuahan ajibata, parapat”. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tahapan-tahapan olop-olop bolon, untuk mendeskripsikan fungsi apa saja yang terdapat pada olop-olop bolon, untuk mendeskripsikan nilai kearifan lokal pada olop-olop bolon. Teori yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah teori fungsi tradisi lisan dan kearifan lokal. Metode penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dengan penelitian lapangan. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah tahapan olop olop bolon ada dua tahap besar yakni tahap persiapan dan tahap pelaksanaan,fungsinya ada empat dan nilainya ada dua belas. Kesimpulannya olop olop bolon memiliki dua tahap empat fungsi dan dua belas nilai kearifan lokal.

Abstract

Teori yang digunakan untuk menganalisis perbedaaan dan persamaan kata sambung adalah analisis kontrastif. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis deskripstif. Data penelitian ini adalah tuturan dari antartokoh yang mengandung kata sambung. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah film The Adventurers 2017 karya Stephen Fung dan Hit & Run 2019 karya Ody C. Harahap. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam film The Adventurers ditemukan 11 jenis kata sambung dan dalam film Hit & Run ditemukan 3 jenis kata sambung. Analisis menunjukkan bahwa kedua bahasa memiliki persamaan yaitu (1) posisi partikel kata sambung yang diletakkan sebelum kata subjek dan posisi partikel kata sambung yang diletakkan sebelum kata kerja (verb), perbedaannya yaitu (2) posisi partikel kata sambung bahasa Mandarin yang diletakkan sebelum kata keterangan, sedangkan posisi partikel kata sambung bahasa Indonesia diletakkan sesudah kata keterangan.
