Journal of Language Development and Linguistics (JLDL) is a quarterly, double-blind peer reviewed journal which publishes original research papers in the field of language development and Linguistics. JLDL publishes articles related to the nature of language acquisition and those which set bridges between language acquisition and development and other disciplines are given priority. Studies which take a descriptive approach to the nature of language acquisition and development are also welcome. Journal JLDL publishes articles in February and September.

Abstract

Karya ilmiah ini berjudul Toponimi Situs Budaya Di Kecamatan Sianjur Mula-mula: Kajian Budaya Pariwisata. Adapun objek yang dikaji dalam karya tulis ilmiah ini yaitu semua setus budaya yang memiliki cerita dan manfaat terhadap pengembangan budaya pariwisata. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data yang di pakai yaitu data primer dan data sekunder. Metode analisis data yang dipakai yaitu pengumpulan data, penyajian data, reduksi data, simpulan.  Hasil yang diperoleh dalam karya tulis ilmiah ini yaitu terdapat delapan situs budaya yang ada di Kecamatan Sianjur Mula-mula yaitu : Huta Sianjur Mula-mula, Sopo Guru Tatea Bulan, Batu Sawan, Batu Hobon, Aek Sipitu Dai, Aek Siboru Pareme, Batu Parhusipan, Hadabuan Nai Sogop, kemudian Story telling dari setiap situs budaya, dan manfaat dari setiap situs budaya terhadap pariwisata.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendiskusikan struktur dan makna ungkapan larangan terhadap perempuan di Minangkabau beserta fungsinya.  Metode yang diaplikasikan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data ungkapan larangan dikumpulkan dengan menerapkan metode introspektif dan teknik interview. Setelah semua data didapatkan, data tersebut dianalis dengan menggunakan pendekatan linguistik antropologi. Dari penelitian ini, didapatkan sebanyak sepuluh (10) ungkapan larangan yang sering dituturkan kepada seorang perempuan di Minangkabau. Struktur dari ungkapan larangan yang ditemukan adalah struktur dua bagian yang terdiri dari klausa sebab dan akibat. Makna dan fungsi ungkapan larangan berkaitan dengan kehidupan dan keseharian anak gadis di Minangkabau. Melalui ungkapan tersebut perempuan diharapkan bisa tumbuh dan bersikap sesuai dengan adat dan budaya Minangkabau.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and explain: (1) the use of language style in Tere Liye's Rindu novel; (2) the unique selection and use of foreign language vocabulary in the novel Rindu by Tere Liye; (3) the use of imagery in the novel Rindu by Tere Liye. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The data source for this research is the novel Rindu by Tere Liye. Data collection techniques using documentation and interview techniques. The validity of this research data uses theoretical triangulation and method triangulation. The sample technique used is purposive sampling technique. The data analysis technique used in this study is an interactive technique. Based on the results of research and discussion, the following conclusions are obtained. (1) The use of the dominant style of language is asindenton. (2) The uniqueness of the selection and use of foreign language vocabulary in the novel Rindu by Tere Liye is in the form of Dutch vocabulary, either in the form of words, phrases or clauses. The dominant Dutch vocabulary is in the form of phrases. (3) The most dominant use of imagery is visual imagery.

Abstract

This article is entitled "The Legend of Namartua Limang in Urat Village, Palipi District, Samosir Regency: A Study of Literary Psychology." The legend of Namartua Limang is a story originating from Suhutnihuta Pardomuan Urat Village. Which tells of a king named Amparhutala Pandiangan who had an abundant rice harvest, which was desired by King Pardindingan. The method used in writing this thesis is the descriptive method. analyzed using structural theory along with the theory of literary psychology. The structural theory includes the intrinsic elements of the Legend of Namartua Limang, including: theme, plot, background or setting, characterization, point of view, and mandate.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the stages of the Njujungi Beras Piher tradition, the values contained in the Njujungi Beras Piher Tradition. The theory used in this study is the theory of local wisdom expressed by Sibarani (2014). The method used in this research is a qualitative method. Based on the results of the research and the results of the analysis, the authors can conclude that the results obtained in this study are: (1) The stages of implementing the Njujungi Beras Piher Tradition, (2) The ingredients contained in the Njujungi Beras Piher Tradition, (3) The value of local wisdom that in the Njujungi Beras Piher Tradition, namely social solidarity, politeness, harmony, conflict resolution, commitment, gender management, mutual cooperation, hard work, discipline, self-control, education, welfare, preservation, cultural creativity, and gratitude.

Abstract

This article is entitled The Meaning of the Functions and Motives of the Toba Batak Ethnic Ragidup Ulos: A Semiotic Study. Ragidup Ulos has a symbol of life. said Ulos Ragidup because the colors, paintings and patterns (yeast) give the impression that ulos is really alive. This study aims to describe the motifs found in the Batak Toba ethnic Ragidup Ulos, to describe the functions and meanings of the symbols found on Ragidup Ulos. The theory used to analyze the data from this research is a semiotic theory, namely symbols put forward by Charles Sanders Peirce. The method used in this research is qualitative method. Based on the results of the research, in Ragidup Ulos there are 14 motifs which include: Jogia, Batu Assimun, Sigumang, Pamaltahi, Pinarhalak Boru, Pinarhalak Bawa, Centipede-Centipede, Ipon-Ipon, Rungkung Anduhur, Honda-Honda, Flowers, Simakkat- Akkat, Hotang-Hotang and Rambu. In addition to the types of motifs, in the Ragdup ulos also discussed the function and meaning of the Ragdup ulos motif.

Abstract

This article is entitled “Local Wisdom of Tinuktuk Traditional Typical Food in the Simalungun Community”. Tinuktuk is a traditional food served in the form of chili sauce and made from crushed spices and is believed by the Simalungun people to have properties for curing various internal ailments. Making tinuktuk is passed down from generation to generation by ancestors. As science develops, the Simalungun people switch from traditional to modern medicine. The purpose of writing this thesis is to describe the stages of making tinuktuk traditional specialties, describe the benefits of consuming tinuktuk traditional specialties, describe efforts to preserve tinuktuk traditional specialties, describe local wisdom in tinuktuk traditional specialties. the method used is descriptive method. The theory used is the theory of local wisdom.

Abstract

Language is a communication tool in the form of a sound symbol system produced by human speech organs. Language units are formed from various arrangements, including phrases, clauses, and sentences. The purpose of this study was to find out the types of phrases, clauses and sentences found in the speech of children aged 4 years with a syntactic study. The research process involved observing, listening and taking notes. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The research results obtained by researchers are in the form of 4 types of phrases, namely attributive endocentric phrases, apositive endocentric phrases, coordinating endocentric phrases, phrases, and noun phrases. While there are 2 types of clauses found, namely independent clauses and bound clauses, and the types of sentences found in this study there are 7 types of sentences.

Abstract

Pragmatic theory by Levinson is the theory used by the author in this research. Descriptive analysis is a research method used by the author. In the research, the data found came from sentences, dialogues and words or text contained in the film Hi, Mom 《你好,李焕英》. In this study, the results obtained show that there are five types of deixis in Mandarin in the film Hi,Mom 《你好,李焕英》 namely: persona deixis, place deixis, time deixis, discourse deixis, and social deixis. Based on the results of the analysis of the use of deixis in the film Hi, Mom《你好,李焕英》 the authors conclude that deixis in this study uses gestural use, namely the way of conveying speech/speech of appointment together with the use of body movements. Meanwhile, the use of deixis symbolically means that the way in which speech is conveyed is not accompanied by bodily movements.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe the translation techniques in the film subtitle "Yī wěn dìng qíng《一吻定情》: fall in love at first kiss" and to describe the translation techniques that are more often used in the film subtitle "Yī wěn dìng qíng" 《一吻定情》: fall in love at first kiss based on the translation technique developed by Molina and Albir. The research method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative research method. Based on the research results, it shows that there are 14 translation techniques out of 193 techniques used in translating the film Fall in Love at First Kiss. Based on the results of research analysis, the translation technique in the film Fall in Love at First Kiss that was most frequently used was the Transposition Technique, namely 12 times (12.90%).
