Abstract

Sukawati Village Temple has great potential as a heritage tourism while maintaining traditional philosophical values and sustainable management. This study aims to evaluate the development of tourist attractions as cultural heritage tourist destinations based on Tri Hita Karana. Using a qualitative approach, data was collected through in-depth interviews with 12 key informants, including indigenous leaders and local officials, as well as field observations. The findings of the study show that Sukawati Village Temple not only functions as a cultural heritage, but also as a center for various social, economic, and cultural activities. This research contributes to the cultural heritage tourism literature by operationalizing the values of Tri Hita Karana into a practical community-based tourism management model. The results show that community-led governance is very important to maintain authenticity while improving the visitor experience. This research advances the application of a spiritual philosophical framework in managing sustainable cultural heritage sites.

Abstract

The Green Economy Expo 2024 (GEE 2024) promoted low-carbon practices within Indonesia’s MICE industry. However, systematic evaluation of these initiatives remains limited. This study examines the event’s carbon-related management practices, identifies internal and external strategic factors influencing sustainability performance, and formulates actionable improvement strategies. A descriptive single-case study design was employed using multi-source qualitative data, including direct observations, in-depth interviews, document analysis, and audiovisual records. To strengthen strategic assessment, a SWOT-based questionnaire was administered to 58 stakeholders, and the findings were synthesized into IFAS and EFAS matrices, followed by TOWS strategic formulation. Results indicate that participant mobility, venue energy consumption, water usage, and waste/material management were the dominant emission sources. Organizational strengths included the early establishment of a sustainability framework, development of operational standard operating procedures (SOPs), promotion of low-emission mobility, partnerships for waste sorting, and engagement of independent auditing. However, critical gaps were identified, including the absence of a verified final carbon report, incomplete post-event evaluation of Scope 3 emissions, continued reliance on single-use plastics, limited renewable energy integration, uneven staff capacity, passive sustainability education, and insufficient incentive mechanisms for stakeholders. The study proposes strengthening measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) systems, advancing mobility and sustainable procurement interventions, and reinforcing vendor–sponsor governance structures through clear accountability and incentive frameworks. These findings contribute to the emerging discourse on sustainable event management in developing economies and provide a strategic model for advancing low-carbon transformation in Indonesia’s MICE sector.

Abstract

Warbal Village holds strategic potential as a community-based marine tourism destination, supported by its diverse marine resources and strong local community engagement, yet its development remains in an early stage. This study aims to analyze the destination life cycle position, potential, and challenges of marine tourism development in Warbal Village. A qualitative approach was employed using field observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. Data were analyzed by integrating the Tourism Area Life Cycle (TALC) framework, the 4A concept, and the perspectives of Community-Based Tourism, Regenerative Tourism, Marketing 5.0, and the Pentahelix model. The findings indicate that Warbal Village is at the involvement stage, with key strengths in its natural coastal attractions and authentic local culture. However, limitations in accessibility, amenities, ancillary services, tourism management institutions, and digital promotion remain major challenges. The pristine coastal environment offers opportunities for the application of regenerative tourism, suggesting that destination development should be carried out gradually, in an integrated and collaborative manner to support tourism sustainability and local community well-being.

Abstract

The transformation of modern tourism has shifted from attraction-based tourism toward experience-based tourism. However, previous studies have produced inconsistent findings regarding the mediating roles of tourist satisfaction and perceived value in explaining tourist loyalty, particularly within agritourism settings. This study aims to analyze the influence of tourism experience quality and agritourism attractiveness on tourist loyalty through tourist satisfaction and perceived value at grape-picking agritourism destinations in Buleleng Regency. An explanatory quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was employed involving 120 tourists selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using SEM-PLS. The findings reveal that tourism experience quality and agritourism attractiveness have a positive and significant effect on tourist satisfaction, perceived value, and tourist loyalty. Tourist satisfaction and perceived value were also confirmed as partial mediators in strengthening tourist loyalty.

Abstract

This study addresses the main problem of whether contemporary culinary trends truly drive purchase decisions in local public culinary spaces compared to product innovation and cultural factors. The study aims to analyze the influence of contemporary culinary trends and product innovation on purchase decisions, with local cultural preferences as a moderating variable. Previous studies have generally emphasized the positive role of culinary trends and innovation; however, they remain limited in examining the inconsistency of these effects and the moderating role of local cultural preferences in public space contexts. A quantitative approach was employed through a survey of 110 respondents using purposive sampling, and the data were analyzed using SEM-PLS. The findings reveal that product innovation and local cultural preferences significantly influence purchase decisions, while contemporary culinary trends do not. Furthermore, local cultural preferences do not act as a moderator. Theoretically, this study contributes by highlighting the dominance of cultural identity in consumer behavior, indicating that purchase decisions are more culturally driven than trend-driven.

Abstract

Social media has become an important source of tourism information through user-generated content (UGC). This study aims to examine the influence of social media usage intensity on motives for accepting UGC and its effects on trust in UGC and tourists’ emotional expectations toward Yogyakarta. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS 4. The results show that social media usage intensity significantly influences motives for accepting UGC. Furthermore, motives for accepting UGC positively affect trust in UGC and tourists’ emotional expectations. These findings indicate that active social media use encourages the acceptance of UGC, which strengthens trust in tourism information and shapes positive emotional expectations toward a destination. This study contributes to understanding the role of UGC in shaping tourists’ emotional expectations toward tourism destinations.
