Abstract

Occupational contact dermatitis is dermatitis that arises as a result of contact with chemicals at work, it must be differentiated from non-occupational contact dermatitis, namely contact dermatitis that arises due to contact with materials not related to work such as cosmetics, jewelry, or drugs. The method of this research is this research was conducted using the Literature Review method. The journal used is in accordance with the discussion of "Factors Affecting Workers' Contact Dermatitis." Data collection was taken from Google Scholar by taking 10 articles published in the last five years as a reference. The purpose of this literature study is to find out what factors affect contact dermatitis experienced by workers. Based on the results and discussion of the 10 journals that became the basis for writing this article, it was found that 9 out of 10 journals stated that there was a relationship between age, length of contact, years of service, use of PPE, and personal hygiene with the causative factors of contact dermatitis in workers. Based on research conducted by (Nina Eka Yuliana et al, 2020) states that there is a relationship between personal hygiene and the incidence of dermatitis with a p-value of 0.003 which is in line with research by Lantania Nafsiah (2012). Conclusion Occupational contact dermatitis is dermatitis that arises due to contact with chemicals in the workplace, while the factors of contact dermatitis experienced by workers are age, length of contact, length of work, use of PPE, and personal hygiene.

Abstract

Inappropriate use of chemicals such as pesticides is still a major public health problem in many developing countries. Some examples of cases of unsafe use of pesticides in developing countries, such as the use of chemical pesticides which are prohibited by the Government, excessive spraying of pesticides, lack of awareness in using personal protection, incorrect storage of pesticides, improper handling of pesticide containers and, in cases the extreme, is the reuse of pesticide containers as places for food or drink as reported by 35.4% and 77.2% of farmers in Nigeria and Ethiopia. One of the efforts to prevent pesticide poisoning in farmers is to use complete Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (Usman, 2011), such as masks, work clothes, boots, and gloves. This study is a literature review with the result that behavior is the main factor in relation to adherence to the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on farmers. The author uses the literature review method, research articles found in the Google Scholar database. By using the keywords Personal protective equipment (PPE), chemical poisoning, use of pesticides. The purpose of writing this article is to examine more deeply the importance of using PPE when working to prevent poisoning when using pesticides.

Abstract

The occupational safety and health management system is part of the company's management system as a whole in order to control risks related to work activities to create a safe, efficient and productive workplace. Accidents at work also often occur in Indonesian industry. According to BPJS Employment data quoted from Data Indonesia, in 2020 there were 221,740 work accident cases, while in 2021 there were 234,270 work accident cases. The purpose of this literature is to find out the application of occupational safety and health management systems from various companies. The research method used is literature study by summarizing and analyzing secondary data according to the topic raised. In implementing SMK3 in the company, it must be applied to all employee members. However, not only employees, companies also lack knowledge about SMK3. In this literature, 8 out of 10 companies have implemented SMK3 in their companies and provided education to their workers about occupational safety and health. Lack of knowledge and education about SMK3 and work accidents will be potentially dangerous for workers.

Abstract

Background: The work environment in both formal and non-formal companies always has risks of danger that can have an impact on both workers and the environment itself. To overcome this impact, it is necessary to monitor bimonitoring so that workers avoid various threats while working. Research Objectives: This study aims to describe the dangers of chemicals through biomonitoring. Research Methods: This study used the literature review method. Literature review is an approach used to collect and analyze relevant information from existing literature sources. Results & Discussion: There are still many industries that are growing rapidly in Indonesia today that have not run according to applicable operational rules. There are still industries that don't understand the regulations that are made, such as the threshold for quality standards for production materials that still exceed the standards and how K3 operational standard management is applied. Conclusion: Based on the results of the research above, it can be concluded that monitoring of chemical hazards in the industry can be done by bimonitoring. There are still industries that exceed their quality standards which can endanger the health of industrial workers.

Abstract

Palm oil waste is a waste or by-product produced during the palm oil processing process. During the palm oil extraction process, some parts of the oil palm fruit are not used and are considered waste. The use of empty coconut bunches as agricultural organic fertilizer is an interesting topic in the field of sustainable agriculture. Empty coconut bunches are waste generated from the palm oil industry, and can be converted into organic fertilizer which is beneficial for increasing soil fertility and crop productivity. The use of empty coconut bunches as organic fertilizer also has environmental benefits. By processing this waste into fertilizer, empty coconut bunch waste can be reduced, thereby reducing its negative impact on the environment in North Labuhan Batu Regency. In addition, the use of organic fertilizers reduces dependence on chemical fertilizers that can pollute soil and water. This research uses literature studies, the object in this study is information systems and previous research related to the phenomena discussed, this aims to develop solutions and related problems. The results showed that organic fertilizer from empty coconut bunches has reduced environmental pollution of greenhouse gases. This organic fertilizer helps reduce fertilization costs from farmers' dependence on chemicals. In addition, EFB also contains a number of important nutrients such as nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K) and magnesium (Mg) which can delight the soil. Organic fertilizers derived from EFB have an additional advantage, namely releasing nutrients slowly into the soil thereby reducing the risk of environmental pollution and increasing the efficiency of nutrient use.

Abstract

In recent years, attention to the negative impact produced by internal combustion engine vehicles on the environment has increased. Exhaust emissions and the use of fossil fuels are major challenges in the effort to achieve cleaner and more sustainable transportation. In this context, electric vehicles have become a promising solution to reduce air pollution and dependence on fossil fuels. From the results of previous studies show that in terms of cost electric vehicles are more efficient than oil-fueled vehicles. Based on the analysis of the impact of electric vehicles on the environment and natural resources, it can be concluded that electric vehicles have great potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and reduce dependence on limited natural resources. By replacing fossil fuel vehicles, electric vehicles can help reduce air pollution and contribute to climate change.

Abstract

The most often used treatment for hydrocephalus is ventricular-peritoneal (VP) shunting. Different locations may experience VP shunt migration. The study's goal was to outline several locations for aberrant distal shunts, their pathogenesis, and appropriate therapy in each instance. Complications from scrotal extrusion are one of the uncommon causes of VP failure. We describe an uncommon complication in which the shunt migrates to an unidentified location beyond the peritoneal cavity. During the shunt revision procedures in these situations, special measures must be made.

Abstract

Mining is the most dangerous occupational sector in the world. Based on statistical data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, during 2019 there were mining accidents which resulted in the death of 24 people, 105 workers heavy and 28 workers light. The cause of work accidents in the workforce is related to exposure to underground mining toxic gases. This study used the Literature Review (LR) methodology where the data source was obtained from "Scopus" with search keywords the year of publication was limited from 2019 - 2023. From a literature review, predeposition factors consisting of age, work experience, work location and body parts have an effect on work accidents in workers, risk assessment factors are the most important factors applied to prevent work accidents in the workplace and the role of the company in influencing work accidents. Based on the research questions, it can be concluded that the causes of work accidents include: lack of knowledge and motivation in using personal protective equipment and not carrying out work permit compliance procedures, not using personal protective equipment and not having a work permit socialization. Factors such as worker age, work experience are not positively correlated with work accidents while work location and body parts influence the causes of work accidents. Risk assessment factors can be carried out to minimize the occurrence of work accidents. In addition, it is known that many companies have prioritized safety issues as evidenced by the many studies conducted by companies to prevent work accidents in the workforce.
