Abstract

This article examines the implications of Ramadan on social cohesion in communities in West Sumatra and Yogyakarta. The issue is based on the assumption that Ramadan is a religious momentum that is only concerned with the vertical affairs between humans and their Lord alone and has a social dimension, i.e., values of solidarity, sense of belonging, tolerance, and social harmony. These are fostered through religious rituals such as fasting, zakat, and other kinds of worship. The study adopted a qualitative approach and was supported by survey data on several selected community samples. Survey data was collected related to the volume of philanthropy, the frequency of ritual worship during the month of Ramadan concerning the level of quality of social cohesion, solidarity, and social trustworthiness. In addition, the data were collected through a questionnaire instrument to capture the fundamental impact of Ramadan on strengthening social capital. In general, this study concludes that West Sumatra is superior to Yogyakarta for its social cohesion on 3 (three) indicators: moral feeling, sense of belonging, and social harmony. However, despite the difference in numbers between the two regions, there are differences among indicators. While for the other two indicators, safety feeling and tolerance, Yogyakarta is better than West Sumatra.

Abstract

Kalosara is a local wisdom which is grown in Kendari Southeast Sulawesi Indonesia, and it has been proven to strengthen peace and harmony in the tribe of Tolaki. Therefore, how to enlarge the function of Kalosara in the multicultural society, is the main discussion of this article base on the theory of multiculturalism and structural-functional in the frame of descriptive-qualitative approach, where the society interpreted as a structure that interacting each other, especially in the norms, traditions, and institutions. The analyzed of data refers to thinking narratively as a way of thinking about phenomena. Data gaining from in-depth interview, literature review, and observation indicated that the local wisdom that supports harmony in Kendari basically also presents in all ethnicities, thus strengthening of Tolakinese’s local wisdom through the internalization of Kalosara in Lulo dance can be well-received by other communities. Kalosara has effective influence in being a unifying means between the dispute parties. Therefore, to expand the access of Kalosara into more effective function, it is recommended to internalized the values of Kalosara in public activities, primarily in Lulo dance, and it is also advisable to manifest the transformation of stylistic Kalosara in the forms of jewelry or crafts, bracelets, necklaces, rings, plate plaques, and other forms that may adopt the shape of original Kalosara, simultaneously adapt its function as an integral tool. If Kalosara transforms into various shapes which is easy to carry anywhere has spread in the community, it is expected at the same time also the functions to spread to the whole society.

Abstract

Kata kunci: Iman, Tafsi̅ r, al-Baiḍ āwi , Teologi AbstractThis library research aims to describe al-Baiḍ āwi’s conception of the term i̅ ma̅ n ‘belief’ in his exegesis Anwār at-Tanz̅ il wa Asra̅ r at-Ta’wi̅ l. This article belongs to the philosophical research and factual history model because the object of the research is the philosophical conception of the exegesis. The findings of the research show that i̅ ma̅ n in al-Baiḍ āwi’s opinion is part of heart activities concepted as recognition and credence to the doctrine of prophet MuhammadSawespecially about ma̅ n ‘belief in’ the occult thing dimly. Although this conception of belief (i̅ ma̅ n) is definitely similar to the language context of the term but it is not totally the same because al-Baiḍ āwi attempted to connect the term beyond in. Therefore, it is the real evidence of al-al-Baiḍ āwi’s inconsistent conception of i̅ ma̅ n because it contradicts with his own prerequisites.Key words: I̅ ma̅ n, exegesis, al- Baiḍ āwi, theology

Abstract

The post structuralism approach is no longer a conventional approach. The emergence of this new approach was not only to respond to structuralism, but also to answer the bluntness of the old approach which was barely able to read the very complex reality and to break down the so complicatedly cultural lines. What al-Jabiri practises in dismantling the nature of Arabic reasoning is his experiment in examining the Arab community reasoning. Interestingly, in practicing the post-structuralism approach, al-Jabiri does not only immediately practice it, but he reconstructs the post-structuralism approach by borrowing others for sharper analysis. It means that the post-structuralism approach is not the final approach. However, criticism and development are needed to achieve the establishment of theory. The foundation of the first theory of this research stems from Foucault's idea of archeology-genealogy of knowledge. The foundation of the next theory that the author takes from Foucault's thinking is about discourse. This research is entirely library research; therefore, the first step that researchers did is to collect primary data, especially data related to the focus of this research. The data analysis phase was carried out using the following methods: method of interpretation, analysis and historical. The results of the research indicate that the advantages of the post-structuralism approach are the methodological implications of very different readings and producing something else and new. The results are quite astonishing that al-Jabiri is able to examine the logic of Arabic construction and find the character of reasoning that had been thinkable and unthinkable. The post-structuralism approach is ultimately able to distinguish the nature of the Arab community's reasoning which can be distinguished into forming and formed reasoning.

Abstract

Islam exists in order to uphold justice. Likewise with families, where there are often unfair relationships between husband and wife, there are so many obstacles which can threaten the harmony of marriage. So far the issue of nusyūz is often connected to the wife and the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI) confirms this. How Islamic law regulates nusyūz and how the perspective of qira'ah mubādalah about this nusyūz is are the main questions of this study. This study uses normative legal research method with descriptive technique. Data collection was carried out by literary study and then they were analyzed qualitatively by the deductive method. The results of this study are as follow: Nusyūz according to Islamic law (KHI) is conceptualized as a wife's disobedience to her husband, such as reluctance to have intercourse, surly in front of her husband, leaving the house without the husband's permission and others which make the husband dislike. If nusyūz occurs then it is resolved by: giving advice, separating beds, and hitting. Mubādalah as a method of interpretation of texts which is reciprocal, in terms of family relations between husband and wife, defines nusyūz as disobedience to household commitments so it applies to husband and wife. Nusyūz settlement by beating is considered as an act of violence so it should not be done. Inviting reconciliation to return to commitment is the best way according to QS. An Nisa': 128.
