Abstract

This study aims to identify the key factors driving Indonesia’s digital economy. The research employs the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method, incorporating expert judgments from scholars and practitioners with in-depth knowledge of Indonesia’s digital economy. The research employs the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method, incorporating expert judgments from scholars and practitioners with in-depth knowledge of Indonesia’s digital economy. The findings indicate that digital governance and digital society are crucial factors to be prioritized for fostering regional digital economic growth. Furthermore, at the dimensional and indicator levels, human resources and digital skills are critical aspects that warrant greater emphasis to advance Indonesia’s digital economy. These findings underscore the importance of strengthening regulatory frameworks to support digital economic development, as well as enhancing efforts to build society’s skills and competencies to facilitate digital adoption.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the key economic, environmental, and trade policy factors influencing EV imports across ASEAN countries. Using panel data analysis with a fixed-effects approach, the study controls for unobserved country-specific characteristics while incorporating macroeconomic conditions, urbanization, environmental indicators, and trade policy variables. The findings indicate that market size and urban development consistently support higher EV imports, reflecting greater market readiness and demand potential for electric mobility. Exchange rate dynamics exhibit a diminishing influence once additional controls are introduced, suggesting that structural factors play a more dominant role in shaping EV trade patterns. Environmental pressures are positively associated with EV imports, suggesting that sustainability considerations contribute to a gradual shift toward cleaner transportation technologies. However, restrictive trade policies continue to limit the scale of EV imports across countries. These results highlight the importance of coherent trade, environmental, and infrastructure-related policies in facilitating EV market development. The study provides policy-relevant insights for governments seeking to accelerate EV diffusion through improved urban readiness, supportive economic conditions, and balanced trade regulations.

Abstract

This study examines how MSMEs, government investment, and digital literacy relate to digital economic growth across Indonesia, using panel data from 34 provinces between 2019 and 2024. Data were drawn from BPS and relevant government agencies. The study applies panel data regression to capture variation across both time and geography. Three model specifications were tested: Fixed Effects, Common Effects, and Random Effects. To select the best fit, two tests were performed — the Chow Test, which compared Common Effects against Fixed Effects, and the Lagrange Multiplier (LM) Test, which compared Common Effects against Random Effects. Findings from both tests identified the most appropriate specification for the data. MSMEs and government investment both show positive, statistically significant effects on digital economic growth. Digital literacy, however, does not. This suggests that simply expanding infrastructure or growing the number of MSMEs is not enough — the quality of human resources matters too, and current policy may be underweighting it.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of nickel exports, crude oil exports, and foreign investment in the mining sector on Indonesia's foreign exchange reserves, with mining sector GDP as an intervening variable. The research method used in this study is a quantitative approach with path analysis. The research period covers 2005 to 2024 with data sources for foreign exchange reserves obtained from the World Bank, GDP for the mining sector obtained from the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture, while nickel exports, crude oil exports and foreign investment in the mining sector were obtained from the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency. The study results indicate that nickel exports have a negative but insignificant effect on Indonesia's mining sector GDP and foreign exchange reserves. Crude oil exports have a negative and significant effect on both mining sector GDP and foreign exchange reserves. Meanwhile, foreign investment has a significant and positive effect on mining sector GDP but a negative and insignificant effect on Indonesia's foreign exchange reserves. Furthermore, mining sector GDP has a significant and positive effect on Indonesia's foreign exchange reserves. The indirect effect study indicates that mining sector GDP does not mediate the effect of nickel exports on foreign exchange reserves. However, mining sector GDP does mediate the effect of crude oil exports and foreign investment in the mining sector on Indonesia's foreign exchange reserves.

Abstract

The Jakarta–Bandung corridor represents a strategic intercity route with high mobility demand and diverse transport alternatives. The introduction of KCIC Whoosh offers significantly shorter travel time compared to road-based modes; however, it has not automatically shifted user preferences away from shuttle/travel services, intercity buses, and private cars. This indicates that mode choice decisions are influenced not only by travel time, but also by trade-offs involving cost, accessibility, flexibility, and user characteristics. Therefore, this study aims to analyze consumer preferences and identify the key determinants of mode choice between KCIC Whoosh and road transport modes. This study adopts the Discrete Choice Model framework based on the Random Utility Model using a stated preference approach. Data were collected through an online survey targeting respondents with prior travel experience on the Jakarta–Bandung corridor. The analysis applies binary logistic regression under pairwise comparisons between KCIC Whoosh and major road transport modes. The results indicate that KCIC Whoosh is generally preferred by respondents. Speed and safety consistently emerge as the most influential factors in shaping mode choice. However, other attributes remain important depending on the competing mode. Affordability becomes a key barrier in comparison with shuttle/travel services, while accessibility, frequency, comfort, and punctuality significantly influence decisions in comparison with intercity buses. In contrast, income shows a positive association with the choice of Whoosh relative to private cars, whereas accessibility and flexibility remain constraints. Based on survey data collected from 180 respondents using a stated preference approach, these findings highlight that improving the competitiveness of KCIC Whoosh requires not only maintaining its advantages in speed and safety, but also enhancing affordability, strengthening accessibility, and improving service integration to better meet user needs.
