Abstract

This research is motivated by the ability to understand students' mathematical concepts which are still in the low category. This study aims to 1) describe the ability to understand mathematical concepts in the circle material for class VIII students of SMP Negeri 2 Telukdalam, 2) describe the students' difficulties in solving questions about the ability to understand mathematical concepts in the circle material. This research uses a type of qualitative research with descriptive research methods. The informants in this study were all students of class VIII SMP Negeri 2 Telukdalam, namely 25 people. Data were analyzed by data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. Research data collection techniques through tests of ability to understand mathematical concepts and interviews. The research findings showed that students were unable to restate the circle concept, students were unable to classify objects according to the nature of the circle, students were unable to distinguish examples of circles and non-circles, students were unable to select and use procedures or operations (formulas) according to the circle concept, and students still unable to apply the circle concept in solving simple problems.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students' mathematical connection abilities, especially in the matter of one-variable linear equations and inequalities. This research uses a type of qualitative research with a descriptive research approach. The informants of this study were 20 students of grade VII junior high school who live in Nanowa Village. The data were analyzed with the steps of data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The research instrument used was a test of students' mathematical connection abilities and interviews. The research findings show that: students do not understand the material concept of one-variable linear equations and inequalities, students do not understand the relationship between the concepts of one-variable linear equations and inequalities with other mathematical material topics such as exponents and squares, and in everyday life, students are unable to find the relationship between the procedure for solving linear equations and inequalities of one variable and the procedure for solving other mathematical material. This is because students do not understand the questions, students do not master the previous prerequisite material associated with the questions, students are confused in choosing the right completion procedure and students lack accuracy in carrying out arithmetic operations so they often make calculation errors. From these results and findings it can be concluded that students' mathematical connection abilities in the matter of linear equations and inequalities of one variable are still low. Through this research, it is suggested that students' mathematical connection abilities be further enhanced by working on more questions related to mathematical connections.

Abstract

Mathematics is a subject that plays a very important role in various disciplines and can develop human thinking. A math problem is a problem expressed in the form of a question that if someone does not have a rule / law that can be used to solve the question. The purpose of this study were 1) to produce a valid, practical and effective geometry transformation module, 2) to determine the improvement of students' mathematical problem solving ability after using the geometry transformation module. This type of research is research and development (R&D) by developing products in the form of learning modules on geometry transformation material. Data collection techniques are interviews, questionnaires and direct observation. The results of material expert validation obtained an average percentage of 84.7% with very valid criteria, the results of linguist validation obtained an average percentage of 86.1% with very valid criteria, the results of design expert validation obtained an average percentage of 75% with valid criteria and feasible to use. The results of students' responses obtained an average percentage of 85% with very practical criteria, the results of observations of learning activities provided by subject teachers were 100% with very practical criteria. The result of the gain score obtained based on the pretest and posttest of students is 78.4% with the criteria that the developed module is effective. Based on the results of research and discussion in this study, it can be concluded that the development of geometry transformation module to improve mathematical problem solving ability is valid, practical and effective to be used as teaching materials at SMA Negeri 1 O'o'u. Researchers suggest that teachers use this geometry transformation module to improve students problem solving skills

Abstract

This research aims to improve the module which refer to the developing of understanding the mathematics concept. The teaching material of this lesson sets is opportunity material. The procedure of module development that used in this research is 4D development module (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminste). The instrument that used in this research to measure the validity of module, responsive students’ of question are to measure the practicality of module, and the sheet of pretest-posttest validity to measure the effectivity of mathematics module. Based on the validity test, the result of this research should that opportunity module was valid with the percentage of validity level was 96,83%. The result of practicality for the tes in limited group was 3.47 with the percentage 83,4% was categorized very practical. The result of the effectivevess test in limited group with the acquisition of values was 80% in effective categori, and the result of of test in controlled class with the axquisition values was 85,3% in effective category. The students’ ability in understanding the mathematics concept increased to 0,79 in bigh category. This result showed that the develompment of the module was valid, practical and effective and able to improve the stundents’ ability in understanding the mathematics concept. This module suggested to be used to improve the students’ ablitiy in understanding mathematics concept in opportunity material

Abstract

This study aims to describe the ability to solve students' mathematical problems in solving one-variable linear equations. This research uses a qualitative type of research with a descriptive approach. The informants of this study were class VII-A students of SMP Negeri 1 Siduaori, totaling 22 students. Data analysis with Data collection steps, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The research instruments used are problem-solving ability tests and interviews. The research findings show that: out of 22 students, there are 4 students who have very good category math problem solving skills, 2 students have good category math problem solving skills, 3 students have sufficient category math problem solving skills, 7 students have less category math problem solving ability, 6 students have less category math problem solving ability. Thus, from these data, it can be concluded that students' mathematical problem-solving ability in solving one-variable linear equation problems is in the less category with a percentage of 31.8%. Through this research, researchers suggest that teachers create a more pleasant mathematics learning atmosphere and provide habituation to students in solving mathematical problems using the correct procedures or steps to solve them.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop Student Worksheets based on Contextual Teaching and Learning on set materials that are valid, practical, and effective. The type of research used in this research is research and development or (R&D) with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Data collection techniques used are validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and student learning outcomes tests. While the data analysis technique used is qualitative and quantitative data analysis. Based on research and discussion that the validation results of material experts were 81.66% with very feasible criteria, the validation results from media experts were 80% with very feasible criteria, and the validation results from linguists were 92% with very feasible criteria. The results of the practicality test from individual trial respondents were 70.33% with interesting and practical criteria, the results of small group trial respondents were 74.33% in the very interesting and very practical category, and the results of field trial respondents were 84.07% with the category very interesting and very practical. The effectiveness results obtained an average value of 80.69% with a very high category. Researchers hope that this LKPD can be used to improve students' abilities in set material.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop Contextual Teaching Learning-based Student Worksheets on quadrilaterals and triangles that are valid, practical and effective. The type of research used in this research and development or (R&D) with the ADDIE Model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Data collection techniques used are validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and student learning outcomes tests. While the data analysis technique used is qualitative and quantitative data analysis. Based on the research and discussion, the validation results from material experts were 89.33% with very feasible criteria, the validation results from media experts were 88% with very feasible criteria, and the validation results from linguists were 84.44% with satisfactory criteria. The results of the practicality test from individual trial respondents were 81.25% with interesting and practical criteria, the results of small group trial respondents were 87.5% with very interesting and very practical categories, and the results of field trial respondents were 94.11% with categories are very interesting and very practical. The effectiveness results obtained an average value of 96% with a very high category. Researchers hope that this LKPD can make it easier for students to understand the concept of quadrilaterals and triangles.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of having mathematical communication skills in the set material. Mathematical communication skills are abilities that need to be developed in learning mathematics. The purpose of this study was to determine students' mathematical communication skills in learning mathematics for class VII SMP Negeri 1 Ulunoyo in Sambulu Village; This type of research is a qualitative research with a descriptive approach with the research population of all seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Ulunoyo in Sambulu Village. The data were analyzed by the steps of data collection, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The research instrument used was a test of mathematical communication skills and an unstructured interview guide. The results showed that the mathematical communication skills of seventh grade junior high school students in Sambulu Village were still low where: 1) students were still unable to make mathematical models; 2) students have difficulty in interpreting the solution so that the problem solving process is wrong or incorrect; 3) students have difficulty in solving story problems. Through this research, the researcher suggests that students' mathematical communication skills should be further improved by practicing math problems related to mathematical communication.

Abstract

Mathematics is a very important science to be learned and mastered by students at school. Mathematics lessons are still considered difficult by students in understanding the material and which has an impact on student learning outcomes. The aims of this research are to produce a valid, practical, and effective curvature side structure module, and to improve students' ability to understand mathematical concepts in the Curved Side Spatial Building material. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D), the development model used is the ADDIE model, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation. Data collection techniques used in this study were questionnaires, tests, and interview guidelines. While the data analysis techniques are qualitative data analysis and quantitative data analysis. Based on research and discussion that the validation test results from material expert validators are 92.66% with very feasible criteria, validation test results from media expert validators are 71.98% with feasible criteria, and validation test results from linguist validators are 98% with very decent criteria. The results of the practicality test of the student respondents for the individual test were 87.81% the criteria were very interesting and very practical, the results of the student respondents for the small group test were 86.16% the criteria were very interesting and practical. The results of the effectiveness test based on the calculation of N-Gain obtained an average value of 0.74. The developed module can be used to improve the ability to understand mathematical concepts in the material for Constructing Curved Side Space.

Abstract

Learning in the all-digital 21st century era is required to be able to use and utilize existing technology so that the learning process is more interesting and creates learning that is able to increase students' thinking power as well as the creative power of students. This study aims to describe the use of the Canva application as a learning medium in mathematics. The Canva application is an online graphic design application in which several templates, images, various shapes and letters are provided. The Canva application is already available on smartphones so it can be used anywhere and anytime. As for this research is library research (library research). The research subject is the author as a key informant and the research object is in the form of articles related to the use of the Canva application in making learning media. By utilizing the Canva application, it makes it easier for teachers or educators to make math learning media more attractive to students.
