Abstract

This research is motivated by the existence of errors that students often make in solving mathematics problems. This research aims to describe students' errors in solving systems of two-variable linear equations. The subjects in this research were 24 students in class VIII of SMP Negeri 2 Somambawa for the 2022/2023 academic year. The data was analyzed using steps, namely data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The research data collection techniques used were tests and interviews. The results of the research show that students still make mistakes in solving problems on systems of linear equations in two variables. This results in students not being able to identify known data and the data asked for in the question. Students do not master mathematical calculation operations so they often make mathematical calculation errors. Apart from that, this error is also caused by students' lack of accuracy when carrying out mathematical calculations. So it was concluded that these errors included errors in organizing data for 13 students with a percentage of 54%, procedural errors and errors for 15 students with a percentage of 62%, and errors in drawing conclusions for 18 students with a percentage of 75%. Researchers suggest that mathematics teachers should provide students with more frequent exercises in solving systems of linear equations in two variables, especially in multiplication and subtraction operations, and division that is not divisible.

Abstract

The problem of this research is the ability of students' mathematical problem solving which is influenced by interest in learning. The aims of this study were 1) to see how well students could apply problem-solving skills, 2) to see students' learning interests and 3) to understand what obstacles students experienced in working on problem-solving ability tests. This research uses a qualitative approach and applies descriptive research. The subjects in this study were 22 students in class VIII of Christian Private Middle School BNKP Telukdalam 2022/2023 Academic Year. There are three research instruments used, namely tests of students' problem solving abilities, questionnaires of student interest in learning and interviews. Data analysis techniques according to Miles and Huberman. The results showed that the students' abilities in terms of exponentials and root forms were sufficient, where there were 17 students who were in the sufficient category and 5 in the insufficient category. The results of the analysis of students' interest in learning were 2 students with high learning interest, 14 students with moderate learning interest and 6 students with low learning interest. So it can be concluded that students' problem-solving abilities are still quite sufficient and students' learning interest is in the medium category. So the suggestions put forward by researchers are 1) it is hoped that students often practice problem solving skills and increase their interest in learning mathematics, 2) Teachers are more aware of the challenges facing students.

Abstract

Mathematics is very important in everyday life, because human mathematics can think logically and argue. Many students think that mathematics is learning that is not fun and results in students being less able to understand mathematical concepts so that the level of student learning decreases, plus the source material presented is lacking. So that researchers conduct research on module development that can support students in learning mathematics and improve students' abilities in understanding concepts. This study aims to develop a module that refers to increasing the ability to understand mathematical concepts, with the material presented is Cartesian coordinate material. The module development procedure in this study is the 4-D development model. Data collection techniques used are student learning outcomes tests and questionnaires. The instruments used were validation sheets, student response questionnaires and pretest-posttest validation sheets. Based on the validity test, the results of the research show that the Cartesian coordinate module is very valid with a validity level of 86.4%. The results of the practicality test in the limited trial with a total of 16 students obtained a very practical Cartesian coordinate module with a percentage of 90.3%, and a field trial with a total of 22 students obtained a very practical Cartesian coordinate module with a practicality level percentage of 85.2%. . The module has met the effectiveness criteria based on the results of limited trials with the acquisition of a learning completeness score of 0.60 in the medium category, the results of field trials with the acquisition of a learning completeness score of 0.73 in the high category. This shows that the developed module is valid, practical and effective. The researcher hopes that this module can be used in learning, especially Cartesian coordinate material to improve students' conceptual understanding abilities.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to determine the effect of the Round Club learning model on the cognitive learning outcomes of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 2 Telukdalam in the mathematics subject of number patterns for the 2022/2023 academic year. One solution to influence student learning outcomes, especially in number pattern material, is through the Round Club model where each group is taught to be responsible, give each other ideas about the material being discussed, and the interactions that are built are interactions that provide information and knowledge to each other. This research method is a quasi-experimental method which is quantitative in nature, namely in the experimental class the Round Club model is used, while in the control class the conventional method is used. The results of the research were that in the experimental class, by carrying out a pretest, the average learning outcome was 63.57 and the posttest obtained an average learning outcome of 83.21. Meanwhile, in the control class, the pretest obtained an average learning result of 57.93 and the posttest obtained an average learning result of 74.66 on the subject of the human digestive system for class VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Telukdalam. The research conclusion based on hypothesis test calculations shows that tcount is 2.779, then the t price table is consulted with a significance level of 0.05 where ttable is 1.673. Because of the t table, Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected at the 5% significance level, which means "there is an influence of the Round Club learning model on the cognitive learning outcomes of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 2 Telukdalam in mathematics for the 2022/2023 academic year."

Abstract

This research aims 1) to describe tube learning by applying the Problem Based Instruction (PBI) learning model, 2) to describe improving student learning outcomes through implementing the Problem Based Instruction (PBI) learning model. This research is Classroom Action Research (PTK). The instruments used are (a) Teacher (Researcher) and Student Observation Sheets, (b) Interview Guide Sheets, (c) Documentation, (d) Field Notes, (e) Learning Results Tests. The research subjects were class IX students at SMP Swatsta Imanuel Bekasi with a total of 20 students. The research results obtained show that the Problem Based Instruction (PBI) learning model can improve student learning outcomes, especially in tube material. This is because by implementing the Problem Based Instruction (PBI) learning model students are more active in learning, understand the concept of the material better, are able to solve mathematical problems, students' analytical power towards mathematical problems increases, they are more critical in solving problems and the group learning carried out makes Students are more open in expressing their ideas. Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that using the Problem Based Instruction (PBI) learning model can improve student learning outcomes, especially in tube material. The Problem Based Instruction (PBI) learning model should be used as an alternative in improving student learning outcomes in mathematics learning.
