Abstract

This research aims to analyze students' understanding of cell material towards the implementation of the 2013 curriculum in class XI students at the Teluk Dalam Campus private high school. The type of research used in this research is qualitative research with a descriptive approach by conducting a study of the data obtained. Data collection in this research was by direct interviews with teachers and students. The data analysis used is data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of the research above which has been carried out by researchers, it can be seen that students' understanding of cell material towards the implementation of the 2013 curriculum in class This cannot be separated from the teacher's role in implementing a creative and innovative learning process through learning models and methods as well as the curriculum applied in the teaching and learning activities carried out. From the results of observations that have been made through tests, especially on cell material with the implementation of the 2013 curriculum, students do not experience problems in solving the questions given.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the relationship between learning styles and student interest in learning about the digestive system in Class VIII at SMP Negeri 1 Toma during the 2022/2023 academic year. This research is categorized as "quantitative research with a correlational approach." Correlational exploration focuses on investigating the relationships between various factors. This study also characterizes the examination of relationships among the factors tested through correlational insights. The results obtained from surveys conducted by experts indicate a significant impact between learning styles and student interest in aligning teaching and learning activities in the classroom. This aligns with the problem statement and objectives of the study, which aims to determine the relationship between specific factors, particularly learning style (X) and interest in learning (Y), using a straightforward direct relaps examination. The analysis yielded a t-value of 0.5635, which is greater than the t-table value of 0.367 at a significance level of 0.05. The conclusion of the study is that students' interest in learning is influenced by their learning styles. According to the relaps model, the equation derived is Y = 33.860 + 0.547X. This is supported by several test values: the relationship between Learning Style (X) and student interest in learning (Y) is demonstrated by the calculated r-value of 0.5635, which exceeds the r-table value of 0.367 at the 5% significance level. As professional educators, it is essential to apply various learning models and methods in teaching to enhance student interest. Additionally, teachers should pay attention to student motivation and interest, irrespective of whether students can comprehend the introduced material. If implemented effectively, this will ensure that student interest and learning outcomes meet overall evaluation guidelines.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the Learning Difficulties of Students in the Material of Plant Tissue Structure and Function in Grade X Students at SMA Negeri 1 Amandaraya for the 2022/2023 Academic Year. The approach used in this research is qualitative, employing a descriptive research type that describes, analyzes, and interprets existing data. Qualitative research is a method aimed at gaining an understanding of reality through an inductive thinking process. The results obtained during the research activities include: (1) suboptimal intelligence among students, (2) attitudes toward learning, (3) learning motivation, (4) concentration in learning, and (5) study habits. The conclusion of this research indicates that students experience several difficulties in participating in classroom learning activities, influenced by both internal and external factors. Internal factors include fatigue, health/stability, and psychological factors such as interest, talent, motivation, and concentration. External factors encompass family influences, including parenting styles, family relationships, home environment, school factors such as teaching methods/teacher relationships, and societal factors including mass media and peer interactions. The researcher recommends that: (1) to succeed in learning and avoid difficulties, students should enhance their motivation, concentration, response, understanding of the material, and strive for maximum grades. Students should also choose beneficial activities to engage in at home for study purposes, (2) teachers should optimize the potential of both struggling and non-struggling students by incorporating more engaging teaching media and activities, and (3) parents should be more assertive in guiding their children at home to ensure they study regularly and engage in more beneficial activities.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the local wisdom values of the Nias Selatan community and investigate the potential integration of these values into a conservation-based Science curriculum. The method employed is literature study, which includes the analysis of documents, articles, and relevant sources regarding local wisdom and environmental education. The results indicate that the local wisdom of Nias Selatan, such as sustainable agricultural practices and marine resource management, embodies important values that align with conservation principles. Integrating these values into the Science curriculum can not only enhance students' understanding of the environment but also foster a caring attitude towards sustainability. Despite challenges in implementation, such as a lack of resources and teacher training, recommendations for the development of a conservation-based curriculum are proposed. This research is expected to contribute to efforts in environmental preservation and the development of relevant education in Nias Selatan.

Abstract

The background to this research is the development of student worksheets based on Discovery Learning. This research aims to produce interactive learning media products on the human digestive system that are valid, practical and effective. This type of research is the development of the PLOMP model. The research method used in this research is research and development. This research was tested on 20 class VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 O'o'u. To standardize products, three test stages are carried out, namely: validity test, practicality test, effectiveness test. The instruments used are assessment questionnaires using a Likert scale and evaluation test questions to determine student learning outcomes. The research results show that the Discovery Learning-based LKPD is very valid with a presentation of 85% and is suitable for use. The average value of practicality assessed by teachers is 3.48 and students are 3.64 in the very practical category. Student motivation results are at 86% with a cognitive average of 88.7. The suggestion given by the researcher is that science-biology subject teachers should use LKPD as teaching materials in the teaching and learning process because it can increase students' interest and motivation to learn. Through this teaching material, students can broaden their horizons regarding science-biology learning on the subject of the human digestive system. For future researchers, this student worksheet can be used as reference material in research

Abstract

This research was conducted because E-comic learning media based on Problem Based Learning material on the human excretory system was not yet available at Lolowau 2 State Junior High School and student learning outcomes did not meet the Minimum Completeness Criteria. The research applied is development research (Development Research) with the four D model. The results of the research obtained an average validity test score of 89.52%, practicality test by teachers 3.50 while students 3.57 and an average effectiveness test score 90.14 so it can be concluded that E-comic learning media can be applied in the learning process of human excretory system material in class Vlll.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis Kesulitan Belajar Siswa Dalam Pembelajaran Biologi Pada Kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Gomo Tahun Pembelajaran 2022/2023. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif yang mendiskripsikan data-data yang ada, menganalisis dan menginterpretasikan. Adapun hasil penelitian yang peneliti dapatkan pada saat melakasanakan kegiatan penelitian adalah sebagai berikut: kelengkapan fasilitas sekolah masih belum lengkap terkait dengan mata pelajaran biologi dan sebagian besar siswa merasa sulit mempelajari bahasa ilmiah sehingga hal tersebut dapat membuat siswa masih memperoleh nilai di bahwa KKM. Adapun yang menjadi kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini bahwa: Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pembahasan yang telah di bahas pada bab sebelumnya, bahwa yang menjadi kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa mengalami beberapa kesulitan dalam mengikuti kegiatan belajar mengajar didalam kelas khususnya pada mata pelajaran Biologi, seperti ruangan laboratorium tidak tersedia, mikroskop, proyektor dan beberapa fasiilitas lainnya yang menunjang kegiatan pembelajaran tersebut. Penyebab siswa merasa sulit mempelajari bahasa ilmiah yaitu siswa kurang berminat untuk belajar serta buku atau bahan ajar yang di gunakan hanya terfokus pada satu buku saja yaitu buku terbitan kurikulum 2013, sehingga keterlibatan siswa dalam mengikuti pembelajaran tidak sepenuhnya mampu untuk mengikutinya dengan baik. Berdasarkan hasil penelaitian tersebut, maka saran dalam penelitian ini adalah perlunya kepala sekolah dan dinas terkait untuk memenuhi kelengkapan sarana dan prasarana sekolah untuk mendukung berlangsungnya kegiatan pembelajaran dengan baik.

Abstract

This study aims to determine students’ level of understanding in Biology learning and to describe the challenges and efforts made by teachers to improve student learning outcomes. The research employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, intended to provide an in-depth depiction of the learning phenomenon. Data collection techniques included questionnaires, interviews, and direct classroom observations. The results showed that 72.2% of students found it relatively easy to understand the Biology material being taught, while 27.8% of students still experienced difficulties in comprehension. Furthermore, 83.3% of students expressed interest and enjoyment in studying Biology. However, several obstacles were identified in the learning process, including students’ mindsets that perceive Biology as a difficult subject, a lack of reading interest, and limited learning support facilities. To overcome these challenges, teachers implemented various strategies such as using diverse teaching methods, setting clear learning goals, and establishing classroom rules that foster a conducive learning environment. This study concludes that creative and adaptive teaching approaches are essential to optimally enhance students’ understanding of Biology material.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of integrating character values into science learning on students' attitudes, behavior, motivation, and academic achievement. Through holistic and contextual approaches, values such as honesty, responsibility, and discipline are internalized at every stage of the learning process. The findings indicate that this approach not only enhances students' understanding of scientific concepts but also fosters positive scientific attitudes, such as honesty during experiments, collaboration in group discussions, and concern for environmental issues. Observations of student behavior revealed an increase in responsibility and active engagement throughout the learning process. Furthermore, students' learning motivation significantly improved as they found the learning experience more meaningful and relevant to their daily lives. Academically, there was a noticeable increase in the average evaluation scores in science subjects following the implementation of this strategy. These findings support the importance of developing science learning models that emphasize not only cognitive aspects but also character formation as an integral part of 21st-century education. Character-based science education has proven to be effective in improving the overall quality of education.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of character education integration in science learning on improving students' academic achievement at SMA Negeri 1 Teluk Dalam. Character values such as honesty, responsibility, cooperation, and curiosity were embedded into every stage of the science learning process to foster positive attitudes and enhance scientific concept mastery. A qualitative research approach with a case study design was employed, using observation, interviews, and documentation for data collection. The findings indicate that consistent implementation of character education strategies significantly improves students’ learning motivation, active engagement, and academic performance in science subjects. These results highlight the crucial role of teachers in selecting appropriate instructional models and designing lesson plans (RPP) that incorporate character education indicators. Furthermore, the study underscores the necessity of a supportive school environment to optimize the holistic implementation of character education. Thus, integrating character education into science learning not only enhances academic achievement but also nurtures a generation with strong character, prepared to face future challenges.
