This study analyzes religious moderation in the discourse of Nahdlatul Ulama’s dakwah in the era of Industry 4.0. The objective of this inquiry is to analyze the substance, identify, and explore the actualization of the religious moderation movement in Indonesia within the discourse of Nahdlatul Ulama’s dakwah. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach using a narrative review method. Secondary data from various sources, such as books, journals, and the internet, concerning Nahdlatul Ulama’s dakwah discourse were utilized. The research findings indicate that the substance of the religious moderation movement in Indonesia within the discourse of Nahdlatul Ulama’s dakwah revolves around the undeniable presence of religious diversity. This diversity is an intrinsic aspect that cannot be eradicated. The emergence of the religious moderation movement in Indonesia within the discourse of Nahdlatul Ulama’s dakwah prominently represents a key aspect in the history of civilization and traditions across various global religions. The actualization of the religious movement in Indonesia within the discourse of Nahdlatul Ulama’s dakwah encompasses three substantial dimensions: moderate religious thought, moderation through movements, and moderation within religious traditions and practices.

The 2020 #EndSARS is a youth-enthusiastic social movement in Nigeria against brutality and inhuman excesses of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad unit of the Nigerian Police Force. The protest movement started on social media and transmited to spatio-temporal platforms as numerous Nigerian youths were scattered on major streets and landmarks of the country to express their dissatisfaction with the operations and methods of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). The protest was held by youths across different tribes, races and religions (with Muslims inclusive.) Just as the movement continued to increase, the participation of Nigerian Muslim youths in the protest became entwined in controversies as young Nigerian Muslim intellectuals debated the permissibility and impermissibility of protest for an ideal Muslim regardless of the circumstances. Numerous studies have examined protests, rebellions, uprisings, and coup d’états amongst other political issues affecting democracy, but they hardly study protests in the light of Islam and Muslims. This paper therefore seeks to explore this gap with a qualitative research by revisiting the history of Islamic civilization in the first few decades of Islam, approaching some Sharī‘ah principles and rereading the sensitive Islamic texts on obedience to authority in the context of contemporary realities surrounding the Nigerian Muslim ’Ummah. The paper concludes that while a protest is typically detestable under Islamic polity, it may rob Islam of its essence if such an opinion is upheld for Nigerian Muslims on 2020 #EndSARS, without considering the social, political, and constitutional factors influencing the movement in Nigeria.

“Life satisfaction†is an individual’s cognitive assessment of the quality of their life. One factor that influences life satisfaction is the meaning of work. The “meaning of work†is a person’s broad perspective of his work. This study investigates whether there is a significant effect of the meaning of work on the life satisfaction of Confucian ministers in Indonesia. This quantitative research was conducted with a linear regression research design on 81 active Confucian ministers throughout Indonesia. The measurement tools used in this study are the Work as Meaning Inventory (WAMI) to measure the meaning of work and the Riverside Life Satisfaction Scale (RLSS) to measure life satisfaction. The results of this study found that the meaning of work had a significant effect of 18.4% on the life satisfaction of Confucian ministers. In addition, it was also found that the dimension of meaning-making through work has the greatest influence on life satisfaction. Based on these results, it is suggested that leaders of Confucian ministers to make better regulations for their organizations to improve the life satisfaction of their ministers by focusing on their perceived meaning of work.

This research aims to analyze the fatwas issued by the National Sharia Board-Indonesian Council of Ulama (Dewan Syariah Nasional Majelis Ulama Indonesia, abbreviated DSN-MUI in Bahasa Indonesia) concerning activities in the stock market. This study focused on the characteristics and general development of these fatwas. This study adopts a normative approach to examine whether the DSN-MUI fatwas related to the stock market. The data utilized in this study are of a secondary nature, encompassing fatwa information issued by the DSN-MUI. These data were further analyzed using a descriptive-qualitative approach and content analysis, particularly pertaining to fatwas. The results of this research indicate that the fatwas issued by the DSN-MUI serves varying purposes across different periods. These fatwas sometimes emerge as responses to questions about business matters or as reactions to recent developments in stock market products. Another finding of this study is that the fatwas issued by the DSN-MUI followed a specific pattern in its structure, starting with verses from the Quran and Hadith of the Prophet, followed by Fiqh principles, opinions of classical and contemporary scholars, and concluding with the National Sharia Board's stance on the specific topic. The development of these fatwas reflects the gradual (tadarruj) principle within Islamic jurisprudence regarding legal action.

Being a working woman is challenging, often entailing multiple conflicts. Despite these challenges, working women effectively navigate through a range of religious coping mechanisms. This study explored the application of religious coping by working Muslim women in Yogyakarta, Indonesia when confronted with stress-inducing situations. This study employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. The participant pool comprised of 54 working Muslim women from several locations in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The research instrument included a religious coping scale featuring five coping types: Doubt about God's power and love, self-reflection and hopeful thinking, coping with pressure to achieve life changes, forgiveness based on religion, and rituals. The findings indicate that working women employ four coping strategies to address the pressures they encounter. Notably, none of the working women selected Doubt for God's power and love. This suggests that all participants in the study held the belief that God consistently supports them in overcoming challenges in life, especially those stemming from managing multiple roles.

This article explores the interpretation of Quranic verses and Islamic teachings relevant to the modern concept of the sandwich generation, a demographic group simultaneously responsible for caring for aging parents and raising their own children. In the Indonesian context, where family ties and caregiving hold immense significance, understanding the intersection of Islamic principles with challenges faced by the sandwich generation is paramount. This article delves into the perspective of Indonesian scholars who analyze Quranic verses to provide insights into how Islamic teachings align with the responsibilities of the sandwich generation. Scholars’ interpretations highlight the importance of honoring parents, as commanded in the Quran, while nurturing children. They emphasize the concept of birr al-walidayn (kindness to parents), shedding light on the moral duty of children to care for aging parents, and fostering a balanced approach. Furthermore, the article discusses how Indonesian scholars emphasize the significance of self-care and seek support from the family and community. This aligns with Islamic values of moderation and collective responsibility. Scholars’ viewpoints underscore the rewards of patience and perseverance, assuring the sandwich generation that their efforts are acts of worship and have spiritual significance. Ultimately, this article provides a nuanced understanding of the sandwich generation phenomenon within the Indonesian Islamic context. It contributes to the broader discourse on family dynamics, caregiving, and the harmonization of modern challenges with timeless Islamic principles.

The seminary formation of Catholic aspirants to the priesthood is a complex journey that involves careful discernment of personal aspiration and motivation. Specific formation programs were designed and formulated to abet them in their vocation discernment. This study examines different motives that keep Propaedeutic seminarians in their initial formation phase. It is a case study investigating the other areas of seminary structure and personal motivation that impelled them to pursue seminary formation. The primary data for this study was obtained from the Holy Infant Seminary of the Diocese of Pagadian, a diocese in Zamboanga del Sur in the western hemisphere of Mindanao, Philippines. Employing the case study technique, the researchers conducted direct interviews with fourteen propaedeutic seminarians to evaluate and examine their motivation. The study's findings show three significant themes which help them cope with the demands of priestly formation: seminary activities or programs, strategies to nurture vocation, and personal motivation factors.
