Abstract

Poverty causes people cannot meet prosperity in their lives, so it must be eradicated according to the first goals of the SDGs. Java Island becomes the region with the highest percentage of poor people in Indonesia in 2021 even though the participation of poor household in work is high. The study aims to know the general description of the characteristics of working household poverty, to know the factors that significantly influence the working household poverty and to know the tendency of each predictor variables that significantly influence the working household poverty in Java Island in 2021. The method used is binary logistic regression. The results showed that factors that significantly influenced the working household poverty are number of household members, marital status of household head, gender of household head, the education level of household head, the occupation sector of household head, the working status of the head of the household, the number of household work hours a week, and the number of work household. The conclusion is that to alleviate the working hoousehold poverty, the government is expected to encourage family planning programs, socialize readiness before marriage, ensure that there is no discrimination against women in work, pay attention to the quality of education, and help to provide the better agricultural equipment.

Abstract

Cooking oil is a strategic staple food commodity in Indonesia. The high consumption of cooking oil every year is accompanied by increasing demand from the market, causing the price of cooking oil to increase every year. The purpose of this study is to group provinces in Indonesia based on time series patterns of cooking oil prices and evaluate group-level forecasts. The clustering algorithm used is Agglomerative Hierarchical Clustering (AHC) with dynamic time warping (DTW, autocorrelation function (ACF), and Euclidean distance similarity measures. The optimal algorithm and number of clusters is selected based on the cophenetic correlation coefficient and silhouette coefficient. Then, each cluster that is formed will be modeled Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) with the Auto ARIMA approach. Forecasting evaluation using Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE). This study shows that the optimal algorithm chosen is the average linkage with a euclidean distance’s similarity measures. Cophenetic correlation and silhouette coefficient obtained respectively 0.8281 and 0.4296. The MAPE values obtained were 0.3399 and 0.0793 respectively.

Abstract

Victims of theft are used as a negative indicator in measuring the sense of security of an area. So, the higher the crime victim is an indication that the community feels insecure. The presentation of estimates from data on victims of theft to the district/city level is very much needed as data for planning the security system in South Sulawesi Province. This is in line with the 16th target of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which is to promote the state based on law at the national and international levels and ensure equal access to justice for all. The Small Area Estimation (SAE) method can be used to overcome this limitation problem by estimating the proportion of victims of theft up to the district/city level. This estimation is carried out by borrowing the strength of several other variables from the Village Potential data (PODES) which is strongly correlated with the proportion of victims of theft by applying the Emprical Best Linear Unbiased Predictor-Fay Herriot (EBLUP-FH) method. The results showed that the SAE of the EBLUP-FH method had a smaller Relative Standard Error (RSE) than the direct estimation method.

Abstract

One of the main focuses of every country in the world, including Indonesia, is alleviating poverty. Papua Island, which consists of the provinces of Papua and West Papua, has the highest percentage of poverty in recent years. Likewise, the highest level of child poverty (monetary and non-monetary approaches) is on the island of Papua. Based on BPS data (2021), poverty in Papua Island is more common in children aged less than 18 years. This study uses the MODA approach to determine the poverty status of children and multilevel binary logistic regression to analyze the determinants of child poverty. The results obtained that individual characteristics have a significant effect on child poverty, namely the age of the child. The household characteristics that influence are the gender and age of the head of the household (KRT), the number of household members (ART), the education of the head of the household (KRT), the type of area, the poverty status of the household, the status of the household receiving credit. The regional characteristic that influences child poverty is the Human Development Index (IPM).

Abstract

The agricultural sector is one sector that is able to survive when the economic contraction in Indonesia during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study aims to assess the impact of educational attainment on their decision to work in the agricultural sector during the pandemic for lost-jobs workers due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Based on estimates using binomial logistic regression, the results show that the lower the educational attainment of lost-jobs workers due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the higher their tendency to work in the agricultural sector. Therefore, agricultural sector is a promising sector which does not require unspecific skill for lost-job workers.

Abstract

Each development plan made by a region aims to achieve high economic growth. South Sulawesi, which is one of the provinces with the highest economic growth rate in Indonesia, during 2016 to 2020 its economic growth rate continued to slow down and was not evenly distributed. However, as a form of strengthening fiscal decentralization, regional funding sources in terms of PAD and balancing funds tend to increase. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effect of fiscal decentralization on the economic growth of districts/cities in South Sulawesi in 2016-2020 with the panel data regression analysis method. The data used are sourced from the publications of the BPS of South Sulawesi Province. The best model obtained is FEM with the FGLS-SUR estimation method. The results showed that the DBH ratio and the DAK ratio had a negative and significant effect, the DAU ratio had a positive and significant effect on the economic growth of districts/cities in South Sulawesi in 2016-2020. While the PAD ratio has no significant effect on the economic growth of districts/cities in South Sulawesi.

Abstract

Employees are an important asset in agencies, who plan and act for every activity of an organization, as well as in government agencies. Although employees are important in government agencies, it is not easy to get employees due to the difficulty of approval from the Ministry of State Apparatus Utilization and Bureaucratic Reform. This is what triggers the emergence of temporary or contract workers. The goal is to meet the needs of vacant employees. However, after serving for decades, the government announced it would eliminate the appointment of temporary employees. This news certainly raises the pros and cons in society. To see people's opinion on this issue, the Twitter platform can be used as a data source. Many users are actively writing information in the form of tweets related to the removal of temporary workers. There were 2690 tweets in a week that discussed honorary workers. With the Random Forest method, an accuracy of 66,67% is obtained.

Abstract

The manufacturing sector is the first largest contributor to the Indonesian economy. However, the contribution of the manufacturing sector has always decreased from year to year. In fact, if a country wants to become a developed country, it is necessary to change the wrong economic structure related to the linkage of the secondary sector or sector industry. The industrial sector in Indonesia is dominated by provinces located in the Western Region of Indonesia (KBI). However, the productivity of the processing industry at KBI has always been below the Eastern Indonesia Region (KTI). The measure of productivity to describe all factors of production is the Total Factor Productivity (TFP). This study aims to calculate TFP, find out the general description of TFP, and analyze the factors that affect TFP in the processing industry at KBI. The calculation of TFP in the processing industry uses the Cobb-Douglas production function using a regression data panel with FGLS-SUR estimation. The results obtained from the provinces in KBI have TFP values below the average. The analysis of variables that affect the processing of the TFP industry uses a regression data panel with the FGLS-SUR estimation model. It is found that wages and educated labor positively affect TFP and electricity use and exports negatively affect TFP.

Abstract

Badan Pusat Statistik is a Non-Ministerial State Institution appointed as the Advisor for Statistics in Indonesia. In this case, BPS has an important role in producing quality statistical data (official statistics) according to existing standards. Statistical results or products from BPS certainly need to be disseminated to data users or data consumers. Dissemination of statistical results is called dissemination. The official statistics data dissemination process at BPS has been going well, but based on the BPS Data Needs Survey (SKD) in 2021, data consumer satisfaction has reached a satisfied number but there are still some aspects or service attributes that are not satisfied. Therefore, it is necessary to examine what problems arise and cause the percentage of data user satisfaction with BPS data and services. Then look at and identify the potential that exists to continue to develop the data dissemination process at BPS. It was found that the problems that arise in the dissemination process are the lack of data dissemination channels and also the lack of utilization of information and communication technology in the dissemination of official statistics data. The potential that needs to be strengthened is the addition of a marketing strategy or promotion of official statistics data in accordance with the targets and needs of BPS data users.

Abstract

Child poverty is a state when children experience a lot of loss of their basic rights, such as adequate food, housing, health, safe drinking water. Proper sanitation facilities, information, education, and access to services. Fulfillment of children’s basic rights during their growth and development needs to be considered in order to become a quality future generations of the nation. The quality of children whose basic rights are not fulfilled has potential to create poor individuals and trapped in a cycle of poverty. The purpose of this study is to find out the general description of child poverty in multidimensional manner using Multiple Overlapping Deprivation Analysis (MODA) and identify socio-demographic factors that affect child poverty in Indonesia in 2021 by applying a binary logistic regression model. The results showed that the percentage of multidimensional child poverty in Indonesia in 2021 was 49.5 percent. In addition, child’s age, child’s gender, age of household head, gender of household head, working status of household head, education of household head, parenting status, number of household members significantly affect the multidimensional poverty of children in Indonesia. The tendency of children in the age group 0-4 years to experience deprivation on children's rights in a multidimensional manner was 3.5 times compared to children in the age group 5-17 years.
