Abstract

Problems will be discussed in this research is how differences in exhaust emissions generated by engine with variable valve timing and valve timing on a fixed volume of motor vehicle cylinder 1300 cc. Variable valve timing technology, which is set when opening and closing the intake valve (intake valve) electronic fuel according to engine conditions. This will make mixing air and fuel that enters into an efficient machine that will produce great power, fuel economy and low emissions. Research emissions (CO, CO2, HC, O2) was performedwith dynamic testing, where the vehicle in a state of the load lifted and given transmission. Unlike the testing generally performed with a static test, in which the vehicle is at rest and without a load. This test is performed to determine how the condition of exhaust gases when the vehicle dynamic (analogous to the vehicle running). In general, machines with variable valve timing to produce better emissions than engines with fixed valve timing. The higher the spin machine and load transmission system will result in CO and HC emissions are decreased and O2 and CO2 increased. Engine with variable valve timing control the suction valve opening times to achieve optimum engine performance at various driving conditions. And set out the engineoutput as needed.

Abstract

In the process of developing competitive advantages of industry in one area, it is required that order of priority of industrial development policies be based on certain criteria/dimensions in which this order is based on the orientation and development plan according to the perspective of the stakeholders in that area. The competitive advantages are related to the purposes of industry in achieving its best performance and the strategy to be applied so that an industry possesses characteristics of competitive advantages that can survive/win business competition. As a new area, Gorontalo Province requires a scale of priority that can be made as a reference and industrial development plan in the future. The research model constitutes the results of several models of competitive priorities that have been established in several new industrialized countries; meanwhile the research object was focused on Small Medium Industry (SMIs) considering that SMIs are the biggest industrial group in Gorontalo Province. Based on the survey and results of data processing using. The Law of Comparative Judgment (LCJ) method, there are 7 (seven) dominant dimensions that should be considered in developing industry;namely, Quality, Cost/Price, Delivery, Customer Focus, Flexibility, Innovativeness and MarketOrientation. This order of competitive priorities can also be applied in other areas consideringthat the characters of SMI that are the object of the research are in principle the same as thoseof the SMI in other areas of Indonesia.

Abstract

Some risks which influence the life of labours should be anticipated by the way of synchronizing among the labours, working processes and environments with ergonomic approaches. The fatigue is a mechanism process of body protection, so that the body will be prevented fromthe fatigue and recoverable after having a rest. The labours which work at night shift have a tendency to get the stress and next will be suffering from fatigue as the clinic phenomena. This research is purposed to formulate the effective strategy of policy for stressing the decrease of the influence of applying the work shift into the risk of fatigue. This is a cross sectional research with its research method is analytic survey. The sample which is used is 30 labours, working in morning and night shifts. The research variables are consist reaction time in the form of fatigue level, blood pressure, heart pulse, physical and mental stress of a people. The instruments or testers used to take data of labour’s reactive time are the Whole Body Reaction is for time, the tension meter is for blood tension, the fingers hand for heart pulse, and the questioner is for physical and mental stress. The data which are obtained for the variable of reactive time, blood pressure, and heart pulse are numerical and analysed by using t test, while the data which are obtained for the variable of physical and mental stress are not numerical and analysed by using chi square test. Based on the result that the total of averages of the reactive time for morning shift labours are 0,97 second, while for the night shift labours are 1.18 second. The total of averages of systole blood pressure for morning shift labours are 119.22 cm Hg, while for the night shift labours are 127.61cm Hg. The total of averages of diastole blood pressure for morning shift labours are 77.44 cm Hg, while for the night shift labours are 82.16 cm Hg. The total of averages of heart pulse for morning shift labours are 73.93, while for the night shift labours are 76.18. Based on the result of the statistical examination that there is a significant influence in to the fatigue (p=0,000), it means that there is a significant relation between working shift and fatigue caused of the stress (p=0,000). Therefore, as the recomendationof this research and in order to anticipate the decreasing of fatigue, it is important to do the improvement and the evaluation about the rules of work shift in a company, so that the night shift labours can work in the safe condition and take the rest well after working.

Abstract

Motor gasoline also proven to be turned on by using biogas. This is done through the addition of a simple regulator to biogas, and air mixer - biogas. In practice, though not obtain maximum performance, modifiers remain to be done without changing the ignition time. Previously, the experiment was done first using LPG, LPG-and then use a mixture of biogas and biogas pure. Machine can be turned on using biogas with methane content of 56-60%. Engine fuel or motor fuel of biogas that is used in the experiment can generate electricity to turn the lights up to 300 watts. A quarter of its normal capacity when using premium fuel / gasoline. Optimal load occurs at 150 watts means the power load 150 watts, the conversion of biogas energy to be the highest power of 230 watt/m3 biogas. At 150 watts of loading the fuel consumption is 0.000097333 liters / watt.
