Abstract

The digital era encourages organizations to adopt flexible communication media for knowledge management. This study aims to analyze the implementation of internal communication strategies through podcasts and digital videos within the knowledge management program at Yayasan Karya Bakti United Tractors (YKBUT). Using a practice-based qualitative descriptive approach, data collection involved participatory observation, focused discussions, and documentation study of viewership metrics. The results indicate that audiovisual digitization effectively documents tacit knowledge into an accessible format. Despite facing operational challenges regarding the temporary absence of technical staff, the division successfully adapted through standardized work instruction matrix, producing three live podcasts and four repurposed digital videos called KAJOL. Metric evaluation demonstrated broad internal audience reach, with psychological well-being topics dominating 36% of total views. This implies that internal communication effectiveness relies heavily on concise content repurposing innovations and personal relevance. Therefore, organizations are highly recommended to maintain content repurposing strategies and increase non-technical competency materials.

Abstract

Educational institutions today face a major challenge in balancing standards of religious identity and cultural roots. This study aims to analyze the pesantren-based learning model at Jannatul Naim International College (JaNIC), which integrates Hadroh music as a tool to strengthen students’ sense of identity and character. Using a qualitative approach, the study explores how Hadroh is not merely an extracurricular activity but a medium for transforming spiritual, disciplinary, and social values. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation to obtain a comprehensive picture of the learning process and the implementation of pesantren values in Hadroh activities. The results of the analysis indicate that Hadroh learning is able to bridge formal education with pesantren-based learning through the continuous internalization of religious and cultural values. This study argues that cultural identity within the Islamic boarding school educational model successfully creates harmony between global perspectives and local wisdom, shaping a generation that is modern yet remains true to its cultural identity. Furthermore, Hadroh activities also contribute to enhancing students’ sense of responsibility, cooperation, and social awareness in their daily lives.

Abstract

The wedding organizer industry in Indonesia has experienced rapid growth alongside the increasing public demand for professional and integrated wedding services. Intensifying competition has encouraged businesses to establish strong brand identities through visual branding and the effective use of social media. This study aims to design an integrated visual identity and Instagram content strategy to enhance the brand awareness and engagement of Cahya Musik Wedding Organizer. The research employed a qualitative approach using the practice-based research method and the Design Thinking process, consisting of empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. Data were collected through Instagram account observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and a literature review. The findings revealed that the existing branding lacked visual consistency and had a relatively low engagement rate of 2.1%. The newly developed visual identity established a consistent branding system through a logo incorporating musical notation and wedding ring elements, an elegant color palette, representative typography, and Instagram content templates based on visual storytelling. The implementation increased the engagement rate to 6.8%, representing a 224% improvement, accompanied by higher numbers of likes, comments, shares, and saves. These findings demonstrate that integrating a consistent visual identity with a well-structured Instagram content strategy is effective in improving brand awareness, engagement, and the competitive positioning of Cahya Musik Wedding Organizer in the wedding services industry.

Abstract

Rapid technological advancement and globalization have significantly influenced many aspects of society, including the preservation of cultural traditions. Among the Chinese community, particularly the younger generation, knowledge and understanding of traditional Chinese wedding customs have gradually declined. Most young people are familiar only with the general concept of Chinese weddings, while lacking awareness of the ceremonial stages and the cultural meanings embedded in each ritual. The growing influence of foreign cultures, changing lifestyles, and the limited availability of engaging educational resources have further contributed to the fading appreciation of these traditions. This study aims to design an educational medium that introduces the traditional Chinese wedding customs practiced in Medan City and promotes greater awareness of their cultural significance. The design process adopts the Design Thinking approach, which includes the stages of empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test to ensure that the educational media effectively meets users’ needs. The resulting media utilizes illustrations and visual storytelling to explain each stage of the wedding ceremony in an attractive and easily understandable manner. By presenting cultural information through engaging visual communication, the educational media is expected to improve public knowledge, strengthen cultural appreciation among younger generations, and contribute to the preservation of traditional Chinese wedding customs as an important cultural heritage with enduring historical and philosophical values.

Abstract

This research examines the strategies and implementation of preserving traditional Lampung music at SMP Negeri 16 Bandar Lampung thru a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection was conducted thru participatory observation, in-depth interviews with cultural arts teachers and students, as well as documentation studies. The findings reveal that preservation is carried out thru three pathways: (1) integration of traditional music material in cultural arts education, (2) organization of extracurricular activities based on Lampung instruments, and (3) collaboration with local artists and cultural figures. The main obstacles include the limited availability of instruments, the low initial motivation of students due to the influence of digital culture, and the lack of competence among teachers in the field of traditional music. Recommendations include the development of digital media-based learning methods, strengthening the local wisdom curriculum, and continuous training for cultural arts educators.

Abstract

Identity crisis among Generation Z people pleasers is a psychological phenomenon influenced by the need for social acceptance, environmental pressures, and the tendency to conform to social expectations. This condition may lead to identity confusion, emotional exhaustion, and blurred boundaries between the self and the social environment. Although this phenomenon has been widely discussed in psychology and represented in visual artworks, its visualization through surrealist digital illustration remains relatively limited. This creation aims to produce surrealist digital illustrations that represent social pressure, emotional conflict, validation needs, and loss of self-control among Generation Z people pleasers. The visualization employs a symbolic surrealist approach using digital painting techniques. The creative process consists of pre-production, production, and post-production stages, while the theme and visual concepts were developed through literature studies and references to surrealist artworks. The results consist of four digital illustration works entitled “What They Wanted”, “What Remained”, “What I Watered”, and “What Was Never Mine”, which represent the sequential stages of identity crisis, ranging from social adaptation, identity erosion, and emotional exhaustion to the loss of self-control. The aesthetic quality of the works is achieved through the combination of visual metaphors in the form of human figures, everyday objects, flora, and fauna that are transformed into surreal forms, combined with form distortion, color harmony, and irrational yet meaningful object relationships, creating a reflective and interpretative aesthetic experience while functioning as an effective medium of visual communication.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the importance of production management in supporting the representation of local culture through traditional performing arts on a national stage. Sendratari Kendit Pagesangan, performed by Sanggar Nyi Pandansari Boja at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) in 2025, serves as an effort to preserve and introduce the local culture of Kendal to a wider audience. The study aims to analyze the production management strategies employed in the performance and to examine how Kendal’s local culture is represented through the artistic elements of the production. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research informants included the studio leader, production team, artistic staff, music director, and dancers involved in the performance. Data were analyzed through the processes of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the production management strategy was implemented systematically and collaboratively through four main stages: planning, organizing, implementation, and evaluation. The representation of Kendal’s local culture was manifested through the portrayal of the figure of Nyi Pandansari, the use of traditional dance movements, gamelan music, make-up and costumes, communal values of mutual cooperation, and local traditions presented in the performance. These findings indicate that production management functions not only as a system for organizing performances but also as an important medium for constructing, strengthening, and communicating local cultural identity to a national audience.

Abstract

Modernization has changed how individuals present their identities, including through fashion. For Visual Communication Design (VCD) students, In addition to being a fundamental need, clothing is also a form of visual communication that reflects creativity, character, and social identity. This study explores how VCD students interpret fashion trends as expressions of self-identity in the modern era. Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis, which includes denotation, connotation, and myth, was used together with a descriptive qualitative method. Visual observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation were used to gather data. The subjects were VCD students from two Jakarta institutions. The analysis focused on visual fashion elements such as clothing type, color, pattern, and accessories as signs that construct social significance. The study's findings demonstrate that fashion among VCD students has a broader meaning beyond physical appearance. When it comes to denotation, fashion it’s represented using visual elements like clothing also accessories. At the connotative level, these elements create meanings such as casual, creative, expressive, and modern. Meanwhile, at the mythical level, fashion becomes a symbol of creative student identity, where appearance is used as a medium of nonverbal communication and self-expression. Fashion trends among VCD students are not only influenced by global trends and social media developments, but also by academic environments and visual culture on campus.

Abstract

This study aims to dissect in more depth the process of movement exploration and the embodiment of expression in the Bedhaya Kalang dance, an innovative dance work at the Nyi Pandansari Studio, Kendal Regency. This dance is an artistic representation of the Mendhak Kalang Obong ritual of the Kalang tribe. This study uses a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with the choreographer, and performance documentation. The results show that the movement exploration in the Bedhaya Kalang dance is the result of a hybridization between the basic movements of Surakarta-style classical female dance with elements of masculinity derived from pencak silat movements and stylized buffalo movements. The exploration process is carried out through intensive body conditioning stages and repetitive exercises to achieve large, strong, and fast yet graceful movement qualities. Expressively, this dance successfully displays the duality of character, namely the gentleness of a woman and the steadfastness of the Kalang tribe. The whip property becomes the main instrument in exploring the dexterity of the dancers' movements and expressions. This study concludes that the exploration of movement in Bedhaya Kalang is not merely an aesthetic innovation, but rather an attempt to articulate the cultural identity of the Kalang tribe which is manifested through the dancer's bodily expression.
