Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of solid organic fertilizer made from dry leaves, cow manure, EM4, and molasses on the growth of pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.). The experiment was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments: control (no fertilizer), and fertilizer applications at concentrations of 15%, 30%, and 35%, each replicated three times. Observed parameters included plant height, number of leaves, and fresh weight. Data were analyzed using ANOVA followed by the Least Significant Difference (LSD) test at a 5% significance level. The results showed that the application of solid organic fertilizer significantly affected the growth of pakcoy. The 30% concentration yielded the best results, with an average plant height of 18.3 cm, 10 leaves per plant, and a fresh weight of 22.5 grams. Statistical analysis confirmed significant differences among treatments (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that applying 30% solid organic fertilizer effectively enhances pakcoy growth and supports sustainable organic farming practices.

Abstract

The Indonesian palm oil industry plays a strategic role as a major supporter of the national economy through its contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP), job creation, and rural infrastructure development. This article discusses in depth three main aspects: the economic benefits provided by the palm oil industry; challenges that include environmental issues, land conflicts, climate change, and regulation and productivity; and opportunities such as bioenergy development, diversification of derivative products, and utilization of technology and degraded land. The analysis also covers the role of technological innovation and human resource investment as key to the sustainability of this industry amidst global price fluctuations and international pressures on sustainability. With a data-driven approach and scientific literature review, this article highlights the importance of systemic transformation in the management of the palm oil industry to ensure competitiveness, environmental sustainability, and the welfare of local communities in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to encourage the effect of adding pineapple (Ananas Comosus L. Mer) in the marinating process on the level of tenderness, organoleptic, physical quality and protein content of buffalo meat. The method used is an experiment with a completely randomized plan (CRD), consisting of four treatments, namely: PO (without pineapple), P1 (250 g pineapple), P2 (500 g pineapple) and P3 (750 g pineapple). The results showed that the addition of pineapple significantly affected the quality of buffalo meat. The color of the meat became brighter with increasing pineapple levels while the texture of buffalo meat became more tender due to the bromelain enzyme which breaks down collagen. Organoleptic parameters using the Kruskal Wallis Test showed a significant difference in the level of tenderness, color, texture, aroma and taste in each treatment, although excessive use of pineapple produced a dominant sour taste. The protein content of buffalo meat changed due to the proteolysis process influenced by the bromelain enzyme. This study indicates that marinating buffalo meat using pineapple can improve the quality of buffalo meat physically, organoleptically and nutritionally.

Abstract

oil palm plantations are one of Indonesia's leading agricultural sectors and contribute significantly to the economy. In production activities, costs are an important factor for a company's efficiency and profitability. This study discusses the structure of production costs, the division of direct and indirect costs, and the method of calculating the Cost of Goods Sold (HPP) in oil palm nurseries and production units. The main objective is to provide a comprehensive understanding of production cost management to achieve more efficient and effective cost management for oil palm plantations.

Abstract

Oil palm plantations are a strategic sector in economic development in North Sumatra, Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the economic and ecological impacts of oil palm plantation expansion and evaluate the balance between benefits and disadvantages caused. The descriptive qualitative method is used by utilizing secondary data from the Central Statistics Agency, environmental organization reports, and academic studies. The results show that the expansion of oil palm plantations makes a significant contribution to increasing regional income and job creation. However, land expansion without sustainable management leads to deforestation, loss of biodiversity, deterioration of the quality of water resources, and microclimate and local weather changes. To overcome these challenges, sustainable management policies that integrate agroforestry principles and strict supervision are needed to maintain a balance between economic development and environmental conservation.

Abstract

The essential oil of lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) is a high-value commodity widely used in the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries due to its bioactive components such as citral. Optimizing its distillation process is necessary to achieve maximum yield with time and energy efficiency. This study aims to determine the hourly yield distribution of essential oil from Lombong-type lemongrass during steam distillation and to analyze its extraction kinetics to identify the optimal distillation duration. Distillation was conducted for four hours with yield recorded each hour, and the data were analyzed using pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order kinetic models. The results showed that the highest yield was obtained in the first hour (0.1882%), followed by a sharp decline, with no additional yield observed in the fourth hour. The pseudo-first-order model showed the best fit to the experimental data with a rate constant of k = 0,8012/hour. Meanwhile the pseudo-second-order model did not fit well. These findings indicate that the extraction process is dominated by external diffusion and the rapid release of surface volatile compounds. Therefore, it is recommended that distillation duration be limited to two hours to optimize energy and time efficiency.

Abstract

Southeast Aceh Regency has a huge potential to bring its agricultural sector to a better level in all aspects. However, several obstacles still hinder the sustainability of agriculture in our country. Therefore, it is imperative to reform agricultural products by using technology for yield and efficiency in agriculture. Young people are the most competent in modernizing technology nowadays. Agricultural regeneration related to agricultural product reform is important to involve the elderly and the younger generation in improving productivity. However, there are problems with farmer regeneration caused by various reasons in the southeast Aceh district. The purpose of this study is to determine how farmer regeneration can impact agricultural products and modernize agriculture going forward. A descriptive qualitative research method was used along with a literature review strategy. In addition, secondary data sources such as books, journals and other references, previous research were also used to support the research. The data analysis techniques used include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study are strategies aimed at parents and the younger generation of farmers must be carried out to encourage better regeneration of farmers. Regeneration of farmers to modernize agriculture can be done by providing agricultural education and training.

Abstract

Agroforestry is also a form of sustainable agriculture model. Agroforestry systems are formed of three main components, namely forestry, agriculture, and livestock. The agrosilvopastura system is the combination of woody components (forestry) with agriculture (annuals) as well as livestock on the same land management unit. The priority order of the most important alternative options for sustainable agriculture includes strengthening farmer institutions, developing a cadre of farmers/farmer groups aware of sustainable agriculture, and increasing demonstration activities for sustainable agricultural technology. Financial analysis shows that all agroforestry systems are economically viable, and agrosilvopastura provides the most inputs compared to agrosilnikultur and silvopastura. Erosion that occurs on agroforestry land agroforestry, especially agrosilvoculture in the buffer zone of Southeast Aceh District is not harmful because it is smaller than the allowable erosion (<30.6 tons/ha/yr). The total biomass and carbon of stands in agroforestry systems with agrosilvopastura type of 103.17 and 46.74 tons per hectare, respectively, are similar to the total biomass and carbon of stands in mangrove forests. carbon in Rhizophora apiculata mangrove forest with a density of 463 trees per hectare, which were 169.46 (biomass) and 47.08 (carbon) tons per hectare, respectively. Agrosilvopastura systems can play a role in mitigating floods compared to monoculture farming systems for each hectare of land for every 1 hour of work.
