Abstract

The productivity of rubber plants in the company is not only influenced by technical factors but is also influenced by the flat and hilly topography of the plantation land. This difference in topographic conditions affects basic number of tasks in latex and lump filling process. This research aims to determine costs incurred by companies to pay premium costs for quoting latex and lumps on flat and hilly topography. This research was carried out at Gunung Para Plantation, PT. Perkebunan Nusantara III, Serdang Bedagai, North Sumatra. The method used in this research is decriptive analysis method. The data taken in this research is primary and secondary data. Direct observations were carried out to obtain general information about the Gunung Para Plantation, as well as conducting interviews with Assistant Afdeling V. from the information resulting from this research in can be concluded that at the Gunung Para Plantation, PT. Perkebunan Nusantara III incentive rates for tappers on flat topography are same as those for tappers on hilly topography, however duty base for tappers on hilly topography is low than the normal duty base because topography has a higher risk than on flat topography areas. The research results show that in May - June 2022 there will be an increase in premium payment costs of 214% in flat topographic land areas, and in hilly topographic land areas there will be an increase of 80%. Results of this research emphasize importance of budget planning for financing latex and lump incentives to improve company performance

Abstract

Literature research has been carried out on the use of fertilizer on oil palm plants with several types of fertilizer. The aim of this research is to see the effect of several types of fertilizer on palm oil yields. The method used in this research is a literature review. Research results show that the fertilizers often used are chicken manure, goat manure, compost and cow urine. Providing animal manure fertilizer at doses of 0, 50, and 100 g/polybag had the same effect on the development of the upper seedlings, while a dose of 50 g/polybag had the best effect on the development of the lower seedlings. Fertilizer greatly influences the level of soil fertility, thereby increasing the number of leaves, the health of palm stems and palm harvest yields.

Abstract

This systematic literature review examines ethnic groups as socio-cultural constructions and their role in social order. Through an analysis of 25 key publications (2000–2023), the study reveals that ethnic groups are not static biological entities but dynamic outcomes of negotiations between individual agency and social structures via identity practices, policies, and power relations. Ethnicity plays an ambivalent role: as a cohesive force based on Gemeinschaft (Francis, 1947) and as a trigger for stratification when politicized (Brass et al., 2000). The theoretical implications emphasize the need to update ethnicity frameworks based on local contexts and integrate cognitive psychology (Gil-White, 2001), while practical implications advocate for integrating ethnic perspectives into inclusive health policies (Aldridge et al., 2023) and multicultural political systems (Shapiro & Kymlicka, 2020). A key limitation is the dominance of Western literature. Future research should explore ethnicity in the digital society era and comparative studies of ethnic construction in Asia versus the West.

Abstract

This study examines the cultural dynamics and social organization of five Indonesian ethnic groups Gorontalo, Makassar, Papua, Flores, and Timor—in response to modernization pressures. Using a qualitative comparative design with ethnographic approaches and literature review (2015–2025), distinct adaptation patterns are revealed. Gorontalo society contends with local language erosion and dualism of traditional authority but integrates Islamic values into rituals like Burdah. Makassar recontextualizes Siri’ Na Pacce for multiethnic urban interactions and institutionalizes Appassili through education. Papua experiences social fragmentation due to disparities in special autonomy policies and cultural commodification, with churches mediating conflicts. Flores harmonizes Catholicism with Caci rituals and Go'et Idep oral traditions, yet navigates sacred-meaning reduction from tourism. Meanwhile, Timor sustains identity via the Tetum language in diasporas but grapples with geopolitical fragmentation post-1999. Commonalities lie in kinship-based social structures as cultural anchors, while differences emerge in adaptation strategies: institutionalization (Gorontalo-Makassar), hybridization (Papua-Flores), and cross-border identity (Timor). The research enriches cultural complexity theory (Hannerz) and recommends gradient protection policies for cultural preservation.

Abstract

The preservation of local wisdom values is a crucial effort in maintaining cultural identity and social harmony within communities. This study examines the origins and forms of local wisdom preservation in the cultures of the Sundanese, Balinese, Lombok, and Dayak Kalimantan societies through a comparative approach. The local wisdom explored in this research emerges from historical experiences, interactions with the natural environment, and distinctive belief systems in each region. Traditions such as seren taun in Sundanese culture, Hindu religious ceremonies in Bali, Sasak practices in Lombok, and Dayak rituals reflect artistic expression and spiritual values that are still maintained today. The findings indicate that preservation efforts are supported by community roles, traditional leaders, and adaptation to social change. It is recommended that an integrative approach be adopted to sustain local wisdom values effectively.
