Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategic role of teacher exemplary behavior in character education within madrasahs, with the goal of fostering a generation that upholds both local values and global perspectives. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were gathered through in-depth interviews with teachers, students, and school administrators, along with observations and document analysis. Thematic and content analysis techniques were applied to derive key themes and patterns from the collected data. The findings indicate that teacher exemplarity significantly influences student character formation through three main factors: strategic interaction with students and parents, the formation of a value-driven school culture, and continuous professional development. Teachers who act as role models and maintain consistent communication with stakeholders contribute to a conducive moral environment. Moreover, the alignment of school vision, leadership, and teacher training plays a pivotal role in sustaining and enhancing character education practices. The implications of this research highlight the necessity of a holistic and collaborative approach to character education involving the entire school ecosystem. It suggests that educational policymakers should strengthen teacher capacity, encourage community involvement, and institutionalize cultural values to ensure the sustainability of character education in madrasahs. These insights are valuable for improving educational strategies aimed at producing ethically grounded and globally aware graduates.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the application of the Discovery Learning method in islamic religious education learning and its impact on improving student creativity. The background of this study is based on the need to overcome boredom in religious learning which is monotonous and less interactive. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation of learning activities. The results of the study indicate that the application of the Discovery Learning method significantly increases student participation and creativity through group discussions, case studies, and creative projects that link religious material to real-life contexts. Student creativity is reflected in their ability to develop innovative ideas, compose artwork, and formulate solutions to religious problems reflectively and critically. Teachers act as active facilitators in creating a learning environment that supports the exploration and internalization of religious values. The implications of this study indicate that Discovery Learning can be an effective strategy to transform islamic religious education learning towards something more meaningful, contextual, and building 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity. The recommendations of this study encourage the development of a more adaptive and integrative curriculum, in order to support improving the quality of religious learning at the elementary school level as a whole.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the strategic role of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) in shaping students' religious character through the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at the elementary school level. The main focus lies in how religious values are instilled, internalized, and manifested in students’ daily behavior through contextual IRE teaching, religious school programs, and the exemplary conduct of teachers. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with case studies. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observations, and document analysis, and were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that students’ religious character development is supported by a synergy between practical IRE learning, daily religious routines, and a school culture that reinforces spiritual values. IRE teachers play a central role in embedding values of faith, morality, and tolerance. The implications highlight the urgency of developing a curriculum that integrates cognitive, affective, and spiritual dimensions, offering a foundation for constructing a contextual and adaptive model of religious character education in the era of the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

This study aims to develop Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teaching materials based on Islamic stories with a mind-mapping approach to improve elementary school students’ understanding of religious values . The background of this study is based on the lack of innovative and contextual learning media in PAI learning, especially in Islamic story material. This study uses the Borg and Gall Research and Development (R&D) model, which is simplified into five stages: preliminary study, product design, expert validation, limited trials, and field trials. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations, documentation, and written tests. The results of the study showed that the teaching materials developed were considered very valid by the Material Teacher (score 92%) and Media Teacher (score 88%) and were stated as very practical by teachers (score 91%) and students (score 89%). The effectiveness test showed an increase in the average score from the pretest 65.2 to the posttest 84.7, with the results of the paired sample t-test of Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000. This study has implications for strengthening Islamic Religious Education learning in line with the principles of the Independent Curriculum, namely active, reflective, and meaningful learning.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of an innovative approach in Islamic religious education learning as a strategy to foster students' affective competence. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study type. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and documentation of student activities. The results of the study indicate that innovative approaches such as project-based learning, reflection through digital media, and social case discussions are effective in fostering values such as empathy, honesty, responsibility, and social awareness in students. The role of teachers as value facilitators greatly influences the success of affective internalization, which is also reflected in increased student participation in social and worship activities. Documentation shows a real behavioral transformation in the school environment. This study provides a theoretical implication to the development of experience-based and contextual affective education, as well as being a practical reference for Islamic religious education teachers in designing learning strategies that touch the emotional realm of students. In addition, this study expands the discourse on character education in the context of vocational schools, which has so far been under-touched in similar research.
