Abstract

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), stroke stands as the second leading cause of death, accounting for 11 percent of total deaths in the world. This study identifies risk factors associated with stroke that could help predict the likelihood of a person getting a stroke by assessing input parameters such as gender, age, medical conditions related to stroke and cardiac disease, smoking status, body mass index, and average glucose level, among others. The results, presented with data visualization, showed that the above risk factors were significant in signifying stroke incidence.

Abstract

Diabetes is a chronic illness that develops when the body either cannot use the insulin that the pancreas produces properly or does not produce enough of it. One hormone that controls blood sugar is insulin. Approximately 48% of all deaths caused by diabetes occurred before the age of 70 in 2019. Diabetes was the direct cause of 1.5 million deaths in 2019 based on the report from WHO (World Health Organization). This study shows the classification of whether someone has diabetes or not using the 8 datasets (medical variables) of age, gender, body mass index (BMI), hypertension (blood pressure), heart disease, smoking history, HbA1c level, and blood glucose level as the risk factors to predict diabetes in patients based on their medical history and demographic information. Furthermore, the result of this study will be presented with analysis and data visualization.

Abstract

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in workforce development is an essential and rapidly growing study area. An increasing number of countries are now undertaking training to develop skills in the use of ICT in teaching and other school activities to ensure higher efficiency, higher productivity, and higher educational outcomes, including quality of cognitive, creative, and innovative thinking. Against this backdrop, this study examined the role of ICT in skilled workforce development in polytechnics with Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin–Ladi as the focus. Using the WhatsApp platform, a focus group discussion was conducted with eighteen academic staff members of the Department of General Studies of the Plateau State Polytechnic for data collection. The theoretical framework adopted for the study was the Computer-Aided Language Learning (CALL). Amongst other findings, the study discovered that computers and the internet have become indispensable worldwide and have frequently aided the training of skilled workforce and the creation of jobs and economic growth. It concluded that using ICT in lecture preparation and presentation, instructional delivery, individualized learning, collaboration, and evaluation of learning will significantly benefit our society in skilled workforce development for nation-building.

Abstract

PT Pos Indonesia, a courier service company, contends with a notably low market share, as indicated by Top Brand data reflecting market proportions over the past five years in Indonesia. This decline in market share is predominantly attributed to subpar service quality. Hence, there is a pressing need to scrutinize PT Pos Indonesia to enhance its service standards for consumers and discern the service attributes requiring maintenance and prioritized improvement. This study employs the IPA (Importance Performance Analysis) and Kano method, both of which complement each other synergistically. IPA seeks to unearth insights into service factors influencing customer satisfaction and loyalty, while the Kano model categorizes service attributes based on their capacity to meet customer needs effectively. Additionally, the Kano model identifies areas warranting attention or enhancement, which can augment customer satisfaction. The analysis reveals four attributes classified as defenseless strategy points and one attribute deemed a chronic issue through the amalgamation of IPA and Kano model findings, thereby informing decisions to enhance performance.

Abstract

This research discusses an analytical approach to suspension bridge accidents focusing on eigenvalue characteristics. This research uses eigenvalue analysis to explore patterns that may contribute to bridge structural failure. The analysis steps include reducing the model to an uncoupled and linear system, as well as determining homogeneous and non-homogeneous solutions, which helps identify accident-prone patterns. The analysis results also reveal significant differences in dynamic characteristics between safe bridges and those that experience accidents. This research highlights the importance of a deep understanding of eigenvalues in designing, maintaining, and managing suspension bridges. The implication of this research is the development of more effective prevention strategies to improve suspension bridge safety in the future. By analyzing eigenvalues, this research provides deep insight into the factors that influence the stability of suspension bridges. These findings provide a strong foundation for developing recommendations for more effective design, maintenance, and management of suspension bridges. The conclusions of this research can help improve the safety and reliability of suspension bridges worldwide and contribute to civil engineering and infrastructure security.

Abstract

This paper presents the simulation of the tuna freezing process by using ANSYS software. Based on simulation results, factors affecting the freezing time including air velocity and freezing temperature were determined. Within the air velocity range w = (5÷15) m.s-1, an increase in the velocity by Ñw =1 m.s-1 led to a decrease in the freezing time by Ñt  = (7.2÷2.3) %. When the freezing temperature was reduced by Ñte = 1 K, the freezing time was reduced by Ñt = (3.2÷2.5) % in the freezing temperature range te = (–35÷–45) oC.

Abstract

The purpose of this work paper is to analyze the effects of friction on the hysteresis dynamic behavior of pneumatic artificial muscle (PAM). Due to the structure of the PAM, the dynamic response is not only affected by the compressed air but also the friction phenomenon. Indeed, the pipe of the PAM called the bellow is made from rubber simultaneously reinforced by metal fibers that are wrapped around the bellow. Hence, the effect of the friction between fibers, between fiber and rubber will be considered in the nonlinear dynamic of the PAM. From dynamic analysis, the complex stiffness model will be attained and analyzed. Comparison between the analysis model and experimental results is realized subjected to harmonic displacement excitation. The results proved the effectiveness of the analysis model. The studied model is a suitable tool in the field of systems vibration analysis using PAM as an elastic element, actuator.

Abstract

To select an air purifier that fully meets the needs of consumers, this study was conducted to provide the most objective and effective suggestions in making decisions and evaluating different smart purifier options that suit the tastes of users. Such decision-making is complicated for non-professionals when there are countless large and small brands on the market today with many different prices, features, and incentives. In such complex situations, decision-making with TOPSIS (Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) can be used to eliminate risk and to better represent the preferences of decision-makers. From modeling to using the Entropy method and the TOPSIS method, all are done to serve the ultimate goal of choosing a good air purifier that meets the needs of customers.

Abstract

Energy efficient buildings are those that consume less energy with the measures taken during the design process, meet the energy they need from renewable sources, and make a minimum environmental impact by using the energy obtained most effectively. Within the scope of this study, energy-efficient buildings were selected because they emphasize environmental sensitivity in the design, construction, and use phases. The study aims to analyze the sensitive volumes through algorithmic graphic programs and categorize them according to the application technique. The study is based on written sources, internet databases, and photographs. Visuals and examples are used to give details. In energy-efficient building design, responsive skin algorithmic application techniques provide optimum energy in a short time and make a great contribution to the national economy.
