Abstract

This study aimed to determine the factors affecting the profitability of fish vendors in Iriga City Public Market. The researchers identified the profile of the respondents in terms of gender, age, civil status, family income, and years of doing business. They also determined the factors affecting profitability in terms of product, price, demand, supply, and competition. Findings showed that most fish vendors were female, aged 41-50 years old, married, and had a weekly family income of Php. 500-Php. 1,000. Some vendors had been in business for 10 years, while others were just starting. The product in the market met the needs of customers, while the price was practical and affected by inflation. Demand for fish products was met, and supply was able to keep up with customer demand. Competition was also a factor. The researchers proposed programs to enhance the financial management of fish vendors. The study concluded that the factors affecting profitability were the product offered, price, demand and supply, and competition. The proposed programs could help fish vendors address challenges that affect their profitability. The study recommended that fish vendors should be knowledgeable in pricing strategies, demand and supply factors, and fair competition.

Abstract

This study aims to create a map of brand equity and service quality perceptions of Bank C relative to four other banks in Indonesia, namely Bank KBMI Category 3. Customer perception maps were constructed by asking customers to provide overall similarity ratings for Brand Equity and Service Quality pairs on a metric scale. The study included Bank A, Bank B, Bank C, Bank D, and Bank E customers in Indonesia. One hundred eight respondents were sampled using the Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) method, which groups many variables into several factors with similar characteristics. Additionally, the Multidimensional Scaling (MDS) method was used, a data analysis technique used to explore the data structure based on similarities or dissimilarities. Based on the analysis results, it was found that according to the perceptions of Bank C customers, the bank scored low in the Reliability factor. At the same time, Bank B had the lowest scores in Brand Loyalty and Brand Awareness factors. This indicates that the strengths of both banks lie in these factors. Subsequently, Bank A, Bank E, and Bank D followed in sequential order.

Abstract

This study focuses on the challenges and prospects of engineering procurement in Nigeria. The research examines the existing literature on engineering procurement practices, identifies gaps in knowledge, and explores potential areas for improvement. Through a comprehensive review, key findings emerge, highlighting limited research specific to engineering procurement in Nigeria and a lack of empirical studies on project performance and outcomes. Moreover, the literature review reveals a need for more research on engineering procurement projects' socio-economic and environmental impacts. The implications of these findings underscore the need for targeted research, enhanced data collection, and monitoring mechanisms to evaluate project performance accurately. Additionally, the study emphasises the importance of considering the broader socio-economic and environmental implications for sustainable development. Overall, this study serves as a foundation for advancing the understanding of engineering procurement in Nigeria and offers insights for policy-makers, researchers, and practitioners in the field.

Abstract

This research paper examines the applicability of artificial intelligence (AI) in the recruitment and selection process, with a specific focus on the Interview phase. The study conducted qualitative interviews with 17 recruitment professionals, including hiring managers, recruiters, and HR executives, to gather their perspectives on AI adoption. The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) framework was utilized as the theoretical model to guide the research. The findings indicate that the recruitment professionals were generally receptive to using AI in various recruitment phases. However, when it came to the interview phase, there was a distinct lack of enthusiasm for AI adoption among the professionals. They expressed concerns about providing a better candidate experience and perceived AI-based interviews as a lack of commitment to candidates. As a result, regardless of the hiring volume or job group, the professionals were hesitant to integrate AI into the interview phase. The research underscores the importance of carefully selecting the appropriate recruitment stage for integrating AI and addressing the concerns raised by recruitment and selection professionals. It highlights the need to consider the candidate's experience and maintain a sense of commitment throughout the recruitment process.

Abstract

Bribery is a multi-faceted phenomenon prevalent in Nepal's public service delivery. The amount of bribe provided differs by type and nature of services. This paper aims to assess the level of corruption in Nepal. It analyses the additional amount the service receivers supplied to the public officials and their determinants using logistic regression. It uses cross-sectional data collected by the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority in 2017 from 1668 service receivers who received service out of 3400 applicants seeking different public services. It is revealed that the CPI score is 34, which indicates that the level of corruption is high in Nepal. Among the service receivers, 39% provided bribes to public officials and used intermediaries to complete their work, increasing public service costs.  Analysing the determinants of giving fixes shows that gender, education, number of times visiting public offices, perception about the staff behaviour, age and the occupation of the service receiver were significant variables. These findings imply that it is crucial to promote integrity and accountability among public officials by enforcing and monitoring the compliance mechanism and providing different benefits to motivate them to deliver quality services on time. It is equally essential to develop transparent approaches and tools for service delivery.

Abstract

This study identified the strategies adopted by banks in Africa to gain access to international markets and why banks establish foreign operations. Twenty-two African banks were selected to examine the entry mode and number of foreign outlets. The study affirmed that most African banks expanded their operations internationally via acquisitions and strategic alliances. At the same time, the motive for expansion is linked to market development to serve customers operating in overseas markets, government policies, and strategic knowledge sourcing. Furthermore, some reasons identified include expanding operations, defensive expansion, and protecting existing bank client relations. The study recommends that African banks should strive to adapt different internationalisation strategies primarily driven by their desire to gain knowledge.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of internal and external factors on stock returns in destroying the food and beverage industry listed on the IDX from 2011 to 2021. The sample in this study used a purposive sampling technique or was based on specific criteria with 12 companies. This research data is panel data, namely a combination of times series and cross-section data, which is tested statistically using Stata. Three data analyses are used: model estimation test, model selection, and static panel regression model estimation results with the criterion of a P value < 0.05, so there is a significant influence between the independent and dependent variables. The research results prove that the best model chosen is the CEM model. The research results demonstrated that the variables ROE (P Value: 0.543 > 0.05), DER (P Value: 0.491 > 0.05), interest rates (P Value: 0.373 > 0.05), and inflation (P Value: 0.165 > 0.05) statistically does not affect stock returns. However, the exchange rate variable (P Value: 0.005 < 0.05) significantly impacts stock returns. The research results also prove that ROE, DER, interest rates, exchange rates, and inflation can explain stock returns of 12.30%. In comparison, the remaining 87.70% is influenced by other variables not included in the research.
