Abstract

Indonesia must be ready to face the Asia Pacific 2020 free market. One thing that the authors focus on in this paper is that creative, dynamic and ready to compete human resources, reform and transformation and development in the field of vocational education (vocational) is wrong one author's opinion in this paper. Vocational education (vocational) is one of the solutions to improving Indonesia's Human Resources, because vocational education creates people who are ready to work in the field of work that is available on the field nationally and internationally and has the ability to open new jobs. The embodiment of creative human resources is the responsibility of education, especially vocational education, especially in preparing students to become subjects whose role is to showcase their strong, creative, independent, and professional excellence in their respective fields. This is because education is a process of humanizing humanity in the sense of actualizing all of its potentials into abilities that can be utilized in their daily lives in the wider community. One aspect that must be improved in vocational education is the management of education including teaching staff, in addition to facilities and infrastructure. This is very important to do with the aim that students have a vocational maturity and foster mental development or entrepreneurship motivation. Vocational education not only instills concepts, but rather focuses on understanding and work processes, therefore, for the advancement of vocational education, the potential of teaching staff and the completeness of facilities and infrastructure must be the main factors that must be reformed.

Abstract

Kerusakan lingkungan karena perilaku manusia mendatangkan permasalahan tidak hanya sebatas kerusakan, namun lebih jauh menimbulkan konflik antara pihak-pihak pelaku dengan korban kerusakan lingkungan. Tulisan ini mendeskripsikan konflik lingkungan yang terjadi antara keduanya. Konflik kerusakan lingkungan dalam tulisan ini melukiskan pertentangan antara Komunitas Petani Kelurahan Kampung Jua Nan XX dengan PT. Semen Padang. Konflik antara keduanya terutama mencakup perjuangan komunitas petani menuntut kekurangan hasil pertanian yang mereka alami sejak tahun 1985.

Abstract

Based on the research on marriages between ethnic Minangkabau and ethnic Chinese that occurred in the city of Padang, it was found that marriages between ethnic Minangkabau and ethnic Chinese had their own dynamics. This paper examines the forms of interaction (cooperation, conflict) between Minangkabau and Chinese husband and wife in the family, and then attempts to resolve the conflict between husband and wife in the family. A qualitative approach is used to understand the problem under study. Data was collected through deep interviews.From the research it was found that the form of cooperation in marriages between Minangkabau and Chinese ethnic can be seen in educating their children. Minangkabau and Chinese parents educate and guide their children according to the teachings of Islam. Furthermore, these families guide and motivate their children's formal education. This Minangkabau-Chinese family holds the principle of mutual help and cooperation, for example in domestic work, even though the husband is not involved in all household activities. The forms of conflict in the Minangkabau and Chinese families in the study were found to be related to the character of the spouse, the practice of worship and the identity of the child. As for the resolution of conflicts from Minangkabau-Chinese families in their domestic life, among others, by avoiding conflict, giving in and discussing.

Abstract

The result of semester mid-test in Academic Year 2014/2015 in sociology subject is low level. Base on te result, this study focused on influence of family environment to study result on sociology at SMA Negeri 16 Padang. This study uses a quantitative method with ex-post facto study approach. The population is 123 sociology students from class X of SMA Negeri 16 Padang, and sample is 44 students. Sampling was done by proportional random sampling technique. The research variables consist of a family environment variables (X) and variable Learning Outcomes (Y). data was collected through questionnaires. Questionare validity was tested by using the formula product moment correlation and reliability of the instrument was calculated using Cronbach Alpha formula. Prior to the data analysis first conducted the testing requirements analysis including normality test, homogeneity test. The data analysis technique used to test the hypothesis is the product moment correlation analysis technique. The results showed that: There is a significant positive effect between family environment and learning outcomes where the results count r is 0.423, greater than 0.266 ta­bles.. The results showed the better family environment will improve student learning outcomes.Hasil ujian tengah semester siswa pada Tahun Pelajaran 2014/2015 berada pada lelevel rendah pada mata pelajaran sosiologi. Atas dasar masalah tersebut penelitian ini difokuskan pada pengaruh lingkungan keluarga terhadap hasil belajar sosiologi di SMA Negeri 16 Padang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Jenis penelitian ini termasuk penelitian ex-post facto. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 16 Padang yang belajar mata pelajaran sosiologi yang berjumlah 123 orang. Dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 44 orang siswa. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik proportional random sampling. Variabel penelitian terdiri dari variabel lingkungan keluarga (X) dan Variabel Hasil Belajar (Y). Data dikumpulkan melalui angket. Validitas angket dilakukan dengan mengunakan rumus korelasi product moment dan reabilitas instrumen dihitung dengan menggunakan rumus Alpha Cronbach. Sebelum dilakukan analisis data terlebih dahulu diadakan pengujian persyaratan analisis yang meliputi uji normalitas, uji homogenitas. Teknik analisis data yang dipakai untuk menguji hipotesis adalah dengan teknik analisis korelasi product moment. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: Terdapat pengaruh positif signifikan antara lingkungan keluarga dengan hasil belajar sosiologi dimana hasil r hitung 0.423 lebih besar dari r tabel 0.266.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan semakin baik lingkungan keluarga maka akan meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa.

Abstract

Education is a necessity for everyone. By education, people will clever and can solve both social and economy problems in their family. Because of that reason, parent’s involvement in children education can be interpreted as indicator how their perception about education. Most of people in Keter Laut Island have profession as fisherman which depend on yield of ocean’s catch. It makes parent sometime forget their duty as first agent of socialization in family and also forget right of the children. It a must for parent to make a life and be responsible to their family, not involve children to work, especially for whom need education and lesson at school. The goal of this research is to know how parent’s motivation in formal education for children in Keter Laut Island. The method of this research is descriptive qualitative, which use both of interpretative and naturalistic approach to the main study (Subject of Matter). The population of this research is parents who have children attend school. The sample is taken by Saturated Sampling technique. There are 20 people as the sample. From this research, all parents in Keter Laut Island want their children have a better education because by education, intelligence will improve and of course it will change people’s life in Keter Laut Island include their economy sector. Beside of that, parents also do not want their children have same destiny as their parents who have profession as a fisherman while their income just enough barely to live on.

Abstract

Batik, with a unique style, reflectsthe prosperityofIndonesian culture. UNESCO officially designated batik as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. One of the batiksin Indonesia is original hand-written batik.Batik Gunawan Setiawan is a local batik company remainsproducing traditional hand-written batik. Hand-made batikfaced few problems includingless competitive with printingbatik, scarce raw materials, and the lack of batik artist regeneration. Thisresearch aims to describe Gunawan Setiawan's Batik strategyfor maintainingsustainable written batikbusiness. This study uses structural functionaltheorydeveloped by Talcott Parsons. This is a qualitativestudy supported bya case study approach. The data were collected through in-depth interview, observation, and documentation. Data validity was tested with source triangulation. Afteranalyzing datawith data reduction, presentation, and conclusion, fact-findings indicate that to preserve written batikthe current strategycovers batik training program, writtenbatik fashioninnovation, batik-linked socialevents, direct selling promotion, mixed social media branding, joint Kauman batik tourism village,and regular Kauman batik exhibitionin Solo Batik Museum.

Abstract

Market is an institution that was important in economic institutions. In addition, the market also a place of social and economic activity, the market serves to confront the economic players. Market and function as an economic facilities the benchmark for the sake of s income in the region . Problems traditional markets complex, all these problems rises on the weakness in traditional market management. Problems at the traditional market will cause endurance markets be weak. After the earthquake 2009 in west sumatera, problems at traditional markets especially in the Padang city of the getting uncontrollable. This article will review the strategy of a formal organization namely the office of market  to persistence in maintaining traditional markets. As for strategy is provided by office of market  to persistence in maintaining traditional markets include: a) infrastructure improvements, b) allocate time trading, c) moving fruit traders to duta merlin street , d ) guidance market traders

Abstract

Poverty described as a lack of income to fulfill the basic necessities of life. One way to reduce poverty is education. Education is not only a means of forming human resources with high competitiveness, but expected to also determine the occurrence of various social changes. Poverty makes it difficult for people to get a better education. It’s caused by education cost is expensive in general, and not all parents are able to finance their child to studying. In Nagari Talu, 15% of poor parents send their children to college. This paper describes the motive and strategy of poor parents sent their children to college. This research was conducted with a qualitative approach and descriptive type. Informants were selected by proposive. Data collected through observation, interviews and study document. The result showing the parents motivation is to change the fate and environmental factors. The parents strategy is double living, assistance from extended family, borrowing and seek scholarships. Kemiskinan lazimnya digambarkan sebagai kekurangan pendapatan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan hidup yang pokok. Salah satu jalan untuk keluar dari kemiskinan adalah pendidikan. Pendidikan bukan saja sebuah alat pembentuk sumber daya manusia yang berdaya saing tinggi, melainkan diharapkan juga ikut menentukan terjadinya berbagai perubahan sosial. Namun kemiskinan membuat masyarakat sulit untuk mendapatkan pendidikan yang lebih baik. Hal ini dikarenakan biaya pendidikan pada umumnya mahal dan tidak semua orang tua mampu membiayai studi anaknya. Di Nagari Talu 15% orang tua menyekolahkan anaknya ke pergurun tinggi dengan kondisi kehidupan mereka miskin. Tulisan ini mendeskripsikan strategi orang tua miskin melanjutkan pendidikan anaknya ke perguruan tinggi. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan tipe deskriptif. Informan penelitian dipilih secara proposive. Dengan proses pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara dan studi dokumen. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa motivasi orang tua dalam melanjutkan studi anaknya ke perguruan tinggi adalah untuk untuk merubah nasib dan faktor lingkungan. Adapun strategi yang digunakan orang tua meanjutkan studi anaknya keperguruan tinggi  adalah dengan pola nafkah ganda, bantuan dari keluarga luas, meminjam dan mengusahakan beasiswa.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze: 1) The implementation of the Suroan Tradition of the Javanese Migrant Community in HessaPerlompongan Village, Dusun IV, 2) The Meaning of Suroan of the Javanese Migrants in HessaPerlompongan Village, Dusun IV. This study applied a qualitative method, where the research was carried out on the Javanese Migrant Community in HessaPerlompongan Village, Dusun IV, AirBatu District Asahan Regency. The data validity was guaranteed by detailed observation and data triangulation. The results show that: 1). The Javanese migrant community in hamlet IV HessaPerlompongan did not abandon the Javanese tradition that was brought by their ancestors 2). The implementation of the Suroan in Hamlet IV HessaPerlompongan usually coincides with the 1st of Suromonth, marked by two series of activities: Genduri and The Kuda Lumping Show (JarangKepang) 3). The Javanese migrants in hamlet IV interpret one Suro night or throughout the Suro month as well as: a month that is required to be eling (remember) and alert, interpreting the Suro month as a month full of calamities so that in this month the Javanese people are not allowed to build houses, hold for events such as weddings, circumcision parties, and others. Javanese people in hamlet IV interpret the Suro month as a form of respect for their previous ancestors' spirits and as a month full of fear and, like spirits, continue to appear. In this case, the Javanese Migrant Community in HessaPerlompongan Village, Dusun IV, Air Batu District, Asahan Regency should continue to preserve the customs, habits, and traditions of their ancestors and pass them on to future generations (children and grandchildren) so that these traditions do not become extinct and remain sustainable.Keyword: Community, Javanese Migrants, tradition, Suroan
