Abstract

This study aims to explore the impact of technology on family communication patterns using the Family Communication Patterns Theory approach. Technology, especially digital devices such as mobile phones and social media, has changed the way families communicate, both positively and negatively. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach in five families in an urban area to understand how technology affects interpersonal relationships between family members. The results show that families with a high conversation orientation tend to use technology to strengthen emotional connectedness, while families with a high conformity orientation are more cautious in using technology, because they are worried about its impact on traditional values and parental control. Technology is also found to play a role in resolving family conflicts, but in some cases, it causes technoference or disruption in face-to-face communication. In conclusion, technology provides opportunities and challenges in maintaining family relationships, and its use needs to be regulated wisely to avoid negative impacts. This study suggests that families should be more aware of the limitations of technology use and prioritize direct interaction to maintain the quality of interpersonal communication.

Abstract

This study explores the impact of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) on stock market investment behavior, focusing on how psychological and emotional factors influence investors' decision-making processes. The primary objective of the research is to investigate the relationship between FOMO and key behavioral trends, such as overtrading, speculative investing, and the formation of asset bubbles. A qualitative research approach was employed, utilizing a literature review of existing studies on behavioral finance, FOMO, and stock market dynamics. The findings indicate that FOMO significantly affects investors by amplifying emotional reactions to market trends, leading to irrational decisions that prioritize short-term gains over long-term financial stability. Social media and technology play a critical role in amplifying FOMO, creating herd behavior that contributes to market volatility and speculative bubbles, as seen in phenomena like "meme stocks." The study also reveals that younger investors are more susceptible to FOMO, largely due to their reliance on social media for investment advice. The results suggest that enhancing financial literacy and promoting disciplined, long-term investment strategies are essential for mitigating the negative effects of FOMO. Regulatory interventions targeting misinformation on digital platforms may also help reduce the prevalence of FOMO-driven investment behavior. Future research should further investigate the psychological mechanisms behind FOMO and explore the long-term sustainability of FOMO-driven market practices.

Abstract

This study examines the construction of social inequality among characters in the drama Pyramid Game using Peter Berger’s social construction theory and Charles S. Peirce’s semiotics. The research aims to analyze how visual and linguistic elements reflect social inequality between the characters. A descriptive qualitative analysis was employed, focusing on scenes depicting social inequality. The findings show that externalization is evident in actions and dialogues that demonstrate the enforcement of social rules and hierarchies. Objectivation is reflected in the shared acceptance of social inequality as a recognized reality, while internalization is observed in how the characters adapt to their roles within the social hierarchy. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the dynamics of social inequality in the context of the drama.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the regulatory frameworks for mediators in employment dispute resolution in Indonesia and the United Kingdom. The research method involves a comparative analysis of the two countries' approaches to regulating the mediation process, mediator qualifications, and the enforceability of mediated agreements. The findings of the study indicate that a robust regulatory environment is crucial in ensuring the credibility and reliability of the mediation process, which in turn increases the willingness of parties to engage in mediation and improves the overall outcomes of employment disputes. The research identifies key considerations for the development of a future regulatory framework, including the need to strike a balance between confidentiality and transparency, strengthen the enforceability of mediated agreements, and harmonize the standards for mediator training, accreditation, and ethical guidelines. The research results suggest that the implementation of a regulated system for case reporting, the development of specialized tribunals or procedures for efficient enforcement of mediated agreements, and the establishment of comprehensive national standards for mediator qualifications and continuous professional development would contribute to the overall effectiveness of mediation as a dispute resolution mechanism in both developed and developing country contexts.

Abstract

This comprehensive review synthesizes and analyzes current literature on hypsometric analysis and its application in evaluating tectonic activity within the Semangko Fault Zone, a critical segment of the Sumatran Fault system. The study examines how hypsometric curves (HC) and hypsometric integrals (HI) serve as quantitative indicators of landscape evolution and tectonic deformation. By critically analyzing existing research, this review highlights the strong correlation between high HI values and areas of active tectonic uplift within the fault zone. The paper also explores the integration of hypsometric analysis with other geomorphic indices and its potential in seismic hazard assessment. Our findings underscore the significance of hypsometric analysis as a valuable tool in understanding the complex tectonic processes shaping the Semangko Fault Zone and its implications for regional seismic risk evaluation and land-use planning.
