Abstract

Leadership is an important topic in the world of scholarly research because of the significant role of leadership and very determinant for the success of higher learning institutions. This study aims to examine a problem faced by the Institute of Catholic Pastoral Ministry (STPK-IPI, Sekolah Tinggi Pastoral Katolik – Institut Pastoral Indonesia)in Malang. This research was carried out at the STPK-IPI Malang known as the first institution of this kind. It has become the parent-institution of twenty-three STPKs under a guidance of Indonesian government through the Directorate General of Catholic Community Guidance of the Department of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. Despite its age and parent-like status, STPK-IPI Malang has failed to play a role model for other Catholic high learning institutions in Indonesia. . This study used a convergent parallel mixed-method design. It combined qualitative and quantitative research methods by mixing the two methods proporsionarlly. This study uses primary and secondary data. Primary data were obtained through questionnaires, direct observations, FGDs and in-depth interviews. Respondents include STPK leaders, directors of education, permanent lecturers, foundations, students and bishop of Malang. Secondary data were taken from previous studies, documents and online news. Statistical data processing using SPSS software, qualitative data were analyzed through the restatement, description and interpretation stages. This research found that the main difficulty of this high learning institution was the crisis of human resources. In particular, the quality of its leadership is poor. There are three elements of leadership: the Catholic Community Guidance that gives the license-coach, the Head of the STPK and the Foundation. These three elements have not functioned optimally, and there is no grand design for institutional development. As a result, the management and quality of STPK education is poor. This is shown by the acquisition of C accreditation, minimal publications, limited human resources and not being able to compete with other high learning institutions. This study recommends a transformation of leadership so that this Catholic high learning institution may slowly improve its performance and significantly develop into a competitive high learning catholic institution.

Abstract

This study was conducted to examine the design of an assessment instrument based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in the Al-Qur'an Hadith Subject at Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) Class VIII. The implementation of HOTS-based learning in the 2013 Curriculum (K-13) has not been supported by the availability of HOTS-based practice questions in the K-13 Qur'an Hadith textbook. Researchers tested the HOTS-based assessment instrument independently to support the implementation of HOTS-based learning in MTs. The purpose of this study was to describe the HOTS assessment instrument for the subject of Al-Qur'an Hadith class VIII which was developed validly and reliably, to produce a HOTS-based description and assessment question design that was equipped with an assessment grid and rubric as well as to identify the culture or habits of educators in decision making. daily test scores. This study uses a quantitative approach. Data were collected from the HOTS questionnaire technique for the subjects of al-Qur'an Hadith class VIII semester 1 at the Madrasah Tsanawiyah level regarding the material for “Kugapai Rezeki-Mu dengan Ikhtiarku” and small-scale and large-scale trial tests. The data were analyzed qualitatively in the expert test phase of the description of the question design and quantitatively by analyzing the small-scale and large-scale trial assessment instruments. The results of this study indicate that the design of the HOTS assessment instrument is in accordance with the guidelines for the preparation of the HOTS-based assessment instrument. The results of the content validity test of the panel of experts were declared valid, namely 0.95. The HOTS assessment instrument developed is valid based on the Pearson Correlation Output for each item because it is above 0.3 and reliable because the small scale reliability is 0.852 and the large scale is 0.886 which means it is greater than 0.7. Meanwhile, educators are not used to taking daily test scores with HOTS-based assessment instruments. Educators must be able to develop self-quality, MGMP must be able to facilitate the sharing of HOTS knowledge, and the Ministry of Religion must conduct guidance and improve the quality of educators as learning evaluators.

Abstract

This paper examines inter-religious harmony in the community of Pabuaran Village, Gunung Sindur District, Bogor Regency which has been closely intertwined since time immemorial. This village is known as a harmonious village because the people can live side by side and harmoniously even though they consist of various ethnicities and religions. The harmony between religious believers in Pabuaran Village takes place naturally without any engineering. Even the houses of worship of five religions can stand without any rejection from the people of Pabuaran Village themselves and from the people around Pabauaran Village. Since this village was founded, there has never been an inter-religious conflict or been affected by the communal conflicts that occurred in various other areas in the archipelago. This research method uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. The data collection technique is done by means of observation, interviews and documentation studies. The main finding in this study is that the close interreligious harmony in Pabuaran Village is caused by several factors, including the existence of civic ties. The strong ties of citizenship are caused, among other things, by "cross-marriage" between two adherents of different religions and then one of them converts religion to his partner. So that in many families in Pabuaran Village, there are more than one religion. This condition does not cause conflict in the family even though it consists of several family members with different beliefs. The other factor is associational. Associational factors are formed in youth organizations who come from various religious backgrounds. Differences in beliefs do not become a factor inhibiting the activities of the youth and even become a supporting factor for youth organizations in creativity.

Abstract

Religious moderation is an important comprehension among the spread of extreme religious thoughts and practices. In this case, Islamic education institutions have a major role as the spearhead in internalizing religious moderation values, including Madrasah Aliyah (MA) NU Miftahul Falah Kudus, Central Java. This study aims to reveal the characteristics of the local religious content curriculum focusing on religious moderation, the process of internalizing the religious moderation values, and the model of religious moderation education based on the local religious content curriculum. In its implementation, this research used a qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observations, documentation, and a literature review. Sources of data were obtained from the head of the madrasa, deputy head of curriculum, teachers of local religious content, and students. The results of this study revealed that first, the characteristics of the local religious content curriculum at MA NU Miftahul Falah Kudus were more of Islamic boarding school-based curriculum, in which the yellow books (Kitab Kuning) written by classical scholars have been used as teaching material. Second, the process of internalizing the religious moderation values was taught through local religious content subjects, starting with the socialization and equalization of perceptions about religious moderation to supporting teachers, which was then internalized in all local religious content subjects, with the main emphasis on aswaja, ushul fiqh, qawaidul fiqhiyyah, and religious NU subjects using a problem-based learning model combined with the sorogan and bandongan methods. The three models of religious moderation education were emphasized through Islamic boarding school-based subjects by adopting formal education using a problem-based learning model and Islamic boarding school education using the multi-strategy model in its delivery. As a formal educational institution based on an Islamic boarding school with teaching materials from the Salaf book, this madrasa is present as a formal educational model institution focusing on mainstreaming Islamic wasathiyah insight.

Catholics in Bekasi Regency don’t yet have a permanent and licensed church building, even though the number of Catholics in Bekasi Regency is relatively large, around 12 thousand people. building the Mother Teresa Church in Cikarang did not materialize, although it had been proposed since 2015 with complete requirements according to existing regulations, the Bekasi Regency Government did not issue a permit. Through research with an approach approach, it was found that there are several factors that can be categorized as supporting and inhibiting factors. The inhibiting factor is the unresponsive attitude of the Bekasi Regency Government and discriminatory administrative regulations. Meanwhile, the supporting factor is the moderate attitude of local residents who provide support for the establishment of the church. The delay in building permits for the church has resulted in obstacles in terms of worshiping Catholics and getting proper religious education. The attitude shown by the Bekasi Regency Government has violated the basic rights of Catholics to practice religious worship which are guaranteed in the constitution and statutory regulations.

Abstract

Currently, the fulfilment of children's religious rights is not interpreted as a parent's need to introduce religion to their children, but rather as a requirement to cultivate religious moderation principles. This is a method of shielding youngsters from religious teachings that promote puritanical and extremist attitudes. The study focuses on how parents of different faiths fulfil their children's religious rights and how this relates to their understanding of religious moderation. The study was carried out as a field study utilizing a qualitative methodology that included interviews and documentation of data gathering methods. According to the findings of the study, the fulfilment of children's religious rights by parents of various religions is consistent with the child's constitutional right to religious freedom. Children are allowed to learn about, understand, and choose their religion. The fulfilment of children's religious rights in this way is in line with the religious moderation movement's essence, especially in terms of instilling the value of religious tolerance between religious communities.
