Abstract

This research is motivated by the science learning process that still uses conventional methods. Another problem found is the lack of application of learning methods that involve students and the perceived difficulty of addictive substance material by students. One solution to this problem is to use the role playing method. This study aims to develop role playing-based worksheet on addictive substance material based on validity. The study uses the ADDIE development model which consists of the stages of analysis, design, development, and evaluation. The instrument used in this study is a validation sheet. The subjects of this study were teachers, material and media experts and lecturers. The data collection technique used was a validity test from several validators. The validation results based on the assessment of three validators of the product that had been developed were included in the very valid category with an average score of 3.76 in the didactic aspect. The construction requirements in terms of identity obtained an average of 4.00, language obtained an average of 3.88, and content obtained an average of 3.97 categorized as very valid with a score still above 3.25. Based on the technical requirements that include the appearance of the cover and images have an average score of 3.95 categorized as very valid because it is above 3.25. While in terms of worksheet characteristics it is categorized as very valid with a score of 4.00.

Abstract

The use of a blackboard as a learning medium and an explanation of the subject matter delivered orally so far often occurs at Mbah Bolong Islamic Junior High School in Diwek Jombang, especially in additive material which results in students feeling bored and difficult to understand the material so that an innovative and varied learning media is needed so that students are always interested in learning at school, one of which is learning additives and making it easier for students to understand additive material. Canva-assisted power point learning media is offered as an innovative and varied solution to make learning additives more interesting and fun. The purpose of this study was to develop a power point learning media assisted by Canva which was tested for validity in class VIII additives. This type of research uses research and development (R&D) with the ADDIE model which consists of four stages, namely: Analyze, Design, Development, and Evaluation. The results of the validation of the canva-assisted power point learning media that have been developed are included in the very valid category with an average percentage obtained from validators (Media Experts, Material Experts, and Teacher Practitioners) which is 91%.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an educational game called “Eduquiz: Classification of Living Organisms” to improve the learning outcomes of seventh-grade students. The background of this study is the lack of engaging digital media in junior high school science instruction, and the fact that many students’ learning outcomes have not yet met the minimum passing standard. The solution to the problems outlined in the background is the development of “Eduquiz: Classification of Living Organisms” to improve the learning outcomes of seventh-grade students. “Eduquiz: Classification of Living Organisms” was developed using the Scratch and Canva platforms to create engaging and interactive features and visuals. This study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the Four-D research model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). Data were obtained from the results of validation tests by subject matter experts and media experts, as well as from pretest and posttest scores. The data analysis techniques used in this study were prerequisite analysis and hypothesis testing, which included normality tests, homogeneity tests, N-Gain score tests, and paired simple t-tests. The validity test results from the subject-matter expert validators showed an average of 85%, categorized as “valid,” while the results from the media expert validators showed an average of 72%, categorized as “sufficiently valid.” Additionally, the reliability test yielded a result of 0.90 > 0.70. The effectiveness test results indicate an improvement in performance before and after the use of the “Eduquiz: Classification of Living Organisms” learning media. This is evidenced by the N-Gain score test result of 0.34, categorized as moderate, and the paired-sample t-test yielding a sig (2-tailed) value of 0.000, which means rejecting H0 and accepting Ha. Therefore, it can be concluded that the “Classification of Living Organisms” Eduquiz is deemed valid and effective for use in the learning process to improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) and Scientific Reasoning Skills (SRS) play a significant role in helping students develop a comprehensive understanding of chemistry concepts. However, studies examining the relationship between HOTS and SRS remain limited. Such studies are essential for providing a theoretical foundation for the development of chemistry instruction in schools. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the relationship between HOTS and SRS in chemistry learning. This study employed a narrative literature review approach, with HOTS and SRS as the focus of the review. Relevant literature was identified through the Google Scholar database, covering publications from 2020 to 2026, using the keywords "higher order thinking skills" OR "scientific reasoning skills" AND "chemistry learning." A total of 27 relevant articles were selected for analysis. The data were analyzed by synthesizing and presenting the findings of previous studies in a narrative and descriptive manner. The review revealed that scientific reasoning skills constitute an essential component of HOTS that students need to develop a meaningful and comprehensive understanding of chemistry concepts. Furthermore, the dimensions of scientific reasoning contribute to the development of students' HOTS, thereby supporting the acquisition of essential twenty-first-century skills.
