Abstract

The development of high-quality and character-driven human resources is a national priority program. Human resources in Indonesia must be based on Pancasila values. Therefore, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology is committed to realizing the Pancasila Student Profile. Educators play a key role in implementing the Pancasila Student Profile. This research aims to gain deeper insight into the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile through the concept of grit, which is identified as a form of educator resilience in facing students’ moral degradation. This research uses a qualitative method. The method used is a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. The data was obtained through in-depth interviews with two respondents who were teachers and elementary school principals. The results showed that both respondents had a high level of grit, characterized by strong motivation, consistency in facing challenges, and resilience in the face of psychological pressure from parents and the environment. Educators can incorporate Pancasila values into the learning process despite post-pandemic challenges. The conclusion of this study states that grit is an important factor in the successful implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile. The implications of this study highlight the importance of strengthening the capacity and psychological resilience of teachers in implementing national character programs. Further research is suggested to include more respondents and adopt a multi-level approach to examine the influence of cross-school and institutional policies on the implementation of character values.

Abstract

Tarempa Village is a village with the highest stunting rate in Tarempa Village, Siantan District, which is 7.14%. Socio-cultural factors are characteristics of a nation or region that can form patterns of community behavior, which may have an indirect impact on health, derived from hereditary beliefs and traditions. Some of these are in line with health rules, while others are less aligned, and they are involved in their roles within the cultural, social, economic, and health service systems. This study aims to analyze the socio-cultural influence on the incidence of stunting in children aged 0–59 months in Tarempa Village, Siantan District, Anambas Islands Regency. The research sample consisted of 101 parents of toddlers, selected using a purposive sampling technique. The research design used is a Mixed Method. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires and the in-depth interview method. Questionnaire tests were used to guarantee the validity and reliability of the instrument. The study showed a significant influence of cultural, social, and health service systems on the incidence of stunting (p < 0.05) in Tarempa Village, Siantan District, Anambas Islands Regency. There is a significant influence between cultural, social, and health care systems and stunting. The researcher suggested that indigenous leaders should be directly involved in KIE (communicative, informative, and educational) efforts with the community, parents, and the environment, to play an active role in improving children's nutritional status, as well as the involvement of other stakeholders in realizing a qualified health service system.

Abstract

The growth of digital startups in Indonesia faces major challenges, including limited access to funding, low digital literacy, and uneven infrastructure, which hinder business sustainability. PT Telekomunikasi Selular (Telkomsel), through its CSR program "9th NextDev" themed Growing to Inspire, aims to address these issues by strengthening the digital startup ecosystem using a community relations approach. This program serves as a strategic initiative to drive digital innovation while supporting social sustainability within Indonesian communities. This study explores Telkomsel's community relations strategy in building sustainable relationships with digital startup communities. The focus is on how the 9th NextDev program supports training, business development, and the empowerment of digital communities as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR). Using a qualitative case study approach, this research applies Edmund M. Burke's theory, which includes three main pillars: Building Sustainable Relationships of Trust, Managing Community Issues and Concerns, and Using Community Support Programs to Build Trust. The findings indicate that the program successfully establishes sustainable relationships through transparent information sharing, two-way communication, and active community engagement. To address community issues, the program identifies the specific needs of startups, resolves conflicts, and responds promptly to challenges such as limited digital literacy and technology adoption in regions with inadequate infrastructure. Through mentoring, technical training, and access to business networks, the program strengthens the foundation of startups and fosters inclusivity. Despite persistent infrastructure challenges, socially relevant technology-based solutions have enabled 9th NextDev to enhance startup sustainability while boosting Telkomsel's reputation as a leader in sustainable digital innovation in Indonesia.

Abstract

Housing affordability is an important issue in the national and global development agenda, especially for middle-income people in metropolitan areas such as Greater Bandung. This study aims to evaluate the affordability of subsidized and non-subsidized housing in 2024 and project it until 2045, using a quantitative approach through Price to Income Ratio (PIR) analysis. The results showed that households with double income had a better level of affordability than households with single income. However, even dual-income households in the BMA still have difficulty reaching non-subsidized type 36 houses, and subsidized houses are not affordable for single-income households. Projections through 2045 show that the minimum wage increase is not enough to keep pace with the pace of house price increases, so affordability is likely to deteriorate. These findings indicate the need for more effective attention and policy interventions to ensure access to decent and affordable housing, particularly for MBM groups in metropolitan areas.

Abstract

World War I (1914–1918) and World War II (1939–1945) marked pivotal moments in the development of International Humanitarian Law (IHL), as they vividly demonstrated the destructive impact of armed conflict on humanitarian values. Serious violations of IHL, such as the use of chemical weapons, mass killings, inhumane treatment of prisoners of war, and acts of genocide, revealed the limitations of existing international legal instruments and prompted the establishment of a stronger legal framework. This study aims to analyze the forms of IHL violations during the world wars, examine the international community's responses to those violations, and evaluate their influence on the formation of modern international legal instruments, such as the 1949 Geneva Conventions, the 1977 Additional Protocols, and the establishment of the International Criminal Court (ICC). Utilizing a normative juridical and historical approach, this research demonstrates that the humanitarian tragedies of the world wars served as critical catalysts for strengthening international legal standards to ensure the protection of conflict victims and uphold accountability for war crimes.

Abstract

Disney Princess films, such as Cinderella (1950), Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), and Beauty and the Beast (1991), are global cultural phenomena that influence children's perceptions of royalty. In Indonesia, this depiction has become more prominent among children than traditional royal figures, such as local princesses from historical contexts, raising concerns about shifting local cultural narratives. This study explores how Disney Princess films construct the concept of a princess as a royal symbol, focusing on depictions of royalty through visual and narrative elements. Using Roland Barthes' semiotic framework, this qualitative research conducts an in-depth analysis of the denotative, connotative, and mythical meanings in certain scenes in all three films. Data were collected by observing and documenting visual representations, transcribing relevant dialogues, and applying Barthes' concepts of textual meaning to connect findings to broader cultural narratives. The analysis of this study reveals that the Disney Princess films construct the princess character as a symbol of nobility through characteristics such as physical beauty, kindness, empathy, and social status. These characteristics are naturalized into society's expectations of the definition of a princess, thereby perpetuating Western ideals of royalty. These findings highlight the dominance of global media narratives that can mask local cultural representations. This research contributes to the study of media and culture by revealing the hegemonic influence of Disney Princess films on children's perceptions of the royal family. It emphasizes the need for more inclusive media representation that respects local traditions and encourages a richer understanding of cultural diversity among younger generations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of motivation and the difficulties faced by non-Chinese students in learning Mandarin at SMA Methodist-6 Medan. The background of this research is the increasing demand for Mandarin proficiency in Indonesia, following the growing bilateral relations between Indonesia and China and the increasing career opportunities requiring Mandarin skills. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method, where data is collected through questionnaires distributed to non-Chinese students. The results show that most students have high motivation to learn Mandarin, particularly instrumental motivation related to career opportunities. However, the main difficulties they face lie in writing and speaking skills, which are caused by the structural differences between Mandarin and Indonesian, as well as limited opportunities to practice outside the school environment. Additionally, there is an indication of a gap between students' high motivation and their actual ability to overcome linguistic barriers. The Pearson correlation test results show a weak and insignificant positive relationship between motivation and learning difficulties. Based on these findings, it is suggested that a more contextual and communicative learning approach should be applied to address the learning difficulties faced by students and improve their Mandarin language skills.

Abstract

This paper is entitled "Juridical Analysis of the Authority of the Honorary Assembly of the Constitutional Court on Allegations of Violations of the Code of Ethics (In MKMK Decision Number: 5/MKMK/L/11/2023)." The main focus of this paper is to examine the violation of the code of ethics of Constitutional Court judges in the case testing process, as well as to analyze the impact of these decisions on the integrity of the institution. This research was conducted with a normative juridical approach, which relies on secondary data in the form of laws and regulations, legal doctrines, and related court decisions. The results of the study show that there is a violation of fundamental principles such as independence, impartiality, and integrity by the judge in the case under review. These violations have a serious impact on the credibility of the Constitutional Court, raise public doubts about the neutrality of the institution, and set a bad precedent for the Indonesian legal system. In addition, weaknesses in the supervision mechanism and the application of the judge's code of ethics are also factors that worsen the situation. This study recommends strengthening the authority of the Constitutional Court Honorary Assembly, drafting a more specific code of ethics, and implementing stricter and more transparent supervision mechanisms. This effort is expected to increase accountability and maintain the integrity of the Constitutional Court as an institution that safeguards the rule of law.
