Abstract

AbstractUniversity students use internet in daily life ranging from learning, socializing and recreation purposes. Cyberslacking in the campus relates to the topic of non-academic media multitasking among university students. Media multitasking defines as connecting to more than one media simultaneously and cyberslacking is activities with media multitasking in the context of non-academic internet access during lectures. This present study will review some researches on cyberslacking and non-academic media multitasking in the context of university students. The review findings conclude that cyberslacking is also media multitasking in the context of non-academic internet access during lectures. Media multitasking could be distinguished between learning related activities and unlearning related activities and cyberslacking is regarded as unlearning related activities. Students who do cyberslacking mostly engage in social networking sites during media multitasking behaviors. Some studies discuss the impact of cyberslacking and non-media multitasking to academic performance. Other studies also mentioned about self regulation and self efficacy as important variables that relate to cyberslacking and non-academic media multitasking. Further researches on cyberslacking should be considered building theoretical model of cyberslacking in the educational setting as well as the development of measurement tools for academic cyberslacking behaviors. Keywords : cyberslacking, non-academic media multitasking, university students

Abstract

Kata Kunci: need for cognition scale, adaptasi, model pengukuran, confirmatory factor analysisDOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.17977/um023v7i22018p148

Abstract

Introduction: In patient examination, the role of a radiographer is very important especially in applying appropriate techniques and procedures to minimize exposure received by patients as needed or optimization. Given this, radiographer knowledge of CT parameters is very important, especially the impact on radiation and the quality of the image produced. Perception of the risk and estimation of CT radiation doses also need to be radiographer’s knowledge because in the service, radiographers are the most frequently interacted with patients.Purpose: To assess the opinion, experience and knowledge of radiographers regarding radiation risk and CT parameters in Kota Medan , Indonesia. Materials and Methods: a survey study was conducted on 33 radiographers from three hospitals in Kota Medan using a 60-question questionnaire consisting of three parts: characteristics, experience, and knowledge. Data were analyzed using Excell and SPSS version 25. Results: the calculation of 48 knowledge problem questions answered, the total value of each respondent is then calculated. Average knowledge value of respondents 56.3% (poor category) with correct value range 14 - 32 with an average value of 26.1 + 4.2. None of the respondents answered all the questions correctlyConclusion: the score of the radiographer’s knowledge of estimation, dose comparison and CT parameters is still low. Review of knowledge, training or further courses related to CT optimization techniques need to be attempted again in the hospital for radiographers.

Abstract

Engaging in intellectual activities and seek new knowledge is critical for Indonesian students. However, most learning activities in elementary and secondary schools in Indonesia are centered on rote learning. This study aimed to provide an initial description of how middle school students in Indonesia value intellectual activities and describe the level of epistemological understanding that underlie how they value intellectual activities. Sixty-eight middle school students were involved in this study by giving their responses to intellectual values questions. Descriptive analysis was conducted to examine the percentage of participants who endorse discussion. Additionally, the reasons for endorsing discussion were also examined to determine the epistemological understanding level. The percentage of participants that endorse discussion in question one, two, and three was 71%, 47%, and 50%, respectively. While 24% of participants consistently endorsed discussion in all three questions. Most students gave reasons that indicate absolutist or multiplist level of an epistemological understanding. Very few reasons can be categorized into the evaluativist level. Students seem to believe that discussion is important to do to solve the problems. Most students have yet to perceive the intellectual activity as an essential tool to enhance their understanding and acquire new knowledge, as an evaluativist would.

Abstract

This research was about the Social Perspective Taking instrument which was adapted from a instrument developed by Diazgranados and friends in 2016, by adjusting the setting of the Indonesian Navy. Procedures used with the cross-cultural adaptation stage started from the process of translating to field testing (Beaton, Bombardier, Guillemin, & Ferraz, 2000). Subject involved 120 Navy officers with the rank of major. Sampling using simple random sampling techniques and statistical tests were SEM analysis. The results of the study were all valid items (loading factor> 0.5) and reliable indicators. Goodness of fit model was quite good. This instrument is expected to detect the right candidate for officers and assist the process of preparing officers to become leaders whose decisions are not solely based on knowledge from military education, but also consider perspectives on the thoughts, feelings and behavior of others. The weakness of this instrument is the item in the form of open questions, so it requires more time and effort compared to similar tests with answer choices. Keywords: social perspective taking, instrument, officer
