Abstract

Vocational education plays a strategic role in developing excellent and competitive human resources (HR) amidst the dynamics of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) and Society 5.0. However, challenges such as the mismatch between graduates' competencies and industry needs, the limited involvement of industry in curriculum development, and weak institutional synergy remain major obstacles. This study aims to examine the ideal form of integration between vocational education and the industrial sector, the role of public policy in supporting this integration, and its contribution to the creation of competent and adaptive human resources. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed through literature review and policy analysis. The findings indicate that effective integration can be achieved through five key approaches: co-design, co-teaching, co-training, co-assessment, and co-recruitment. Public policy plays a crucial role as both facilitator and regulator in establishing a collaborative and labor market-oriented vocational–industry ecosystem. The implementation of policies such as Presidential Regulation No. 68/2022, the Center of Excellence Vocational High School (SMK PK) program, and the Pre-Employment Card (Kartu Prakerja) initiative has shown positive impacts on improving graduate quality and workforce absorption. This integration also contributes to enhanced employability, digital literacy, innovative capabilities, and global work readiness. The study concludes that strengthening vocational–industry integration, supported by adaptive and sustainable public policies, is key to building excellent, productive, and globally competitive human resources in Indonesia.

Abstract

The use of coconut water as a fermentation substrate in making soy sauce is a sustainable innovation in the food industry. This study aims to evaluate the nutritional characteristics, physicochemicals, and functional potential of soy sauce formulated using coconut water and the addition of gonggong meat (Strombus turturella), a type of marine mollusk rich in protein and minerals. The fermentation process was carried out for 14 days using tempeh yeast as a source of proteolytic enzymes. The parameters analyzed included pH, total soluble solids (°Brix), protein content, sodium, antioxidant activity, and organoleptic tests. The results showed a significant increase in protein content (2.67 g/100 ml) and antioxidant activity (57.4%) compared to the control soy sauce. The addition of gonggong provides a savory taste profile and a distinctive marine aroma that is preferred by panelists. This product has the potential as an alternative to low-soy functional soy sauce, is allergy-friendly, and supports the use of local resources. These findings open up opportunities in the development of marine-based fermentation products that support public health.

Abstract

The kutu baru kebaya is a cultural heritage of Indonesia that requires innovation to remain relevant in modern times without diminishing its traditional values. This study aims to analyze the quality of modern kutu baru kebaya products inspired by the Mawar Putri, focusing on aesthetics, ornamentation, design, materials, and finishing aspects. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed, involving four fashion experts as validators to assess the quality of two kebaya prototypes. Data were collected through structured observation using a Likert scale (1–4) assessment sheet. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and percentage calculations to determine product feasibility categories. The findings reveal that Kebaya A achieved an average score of 82.71%, classified as “highly feasible,” while Kebaya B attained 86.67%, also categorized as “highly feasible.” Kebaya B outperformed in aesthetic (87.5%), ornamentation (87.5%), and design (81.25%) criteria, whereas both products demonstrated equivalent performance in material (91.67%) and finishing (85.42%) aspects. It can be concluded that both modern kutu baru kebaya designs inspired by the Bunga Mawar Putri rose meet high-quality standards, with Kebaya B exhibiting superior overall performance. Nevertheless, further refinement is recommended, particularly in the application of sequins and embroidery to enhance visual and structural detailing. These findings contribute to preserving cultural identity through contemporary fashion design while highlighting the importance of quality evaluation in traditional clothing innovation.

Abstract

This research investigates the relationship between education, racial identity, political ideology, and socioeconomic factors in shaping American immigrants' attitudes toward immigration policies and perceptions of law enforcement. Analyzing data from the 2020 American National Election Studies (ANES) survey through multiple linear regression models, the study reveals significant influences of perceived police brutality and racial bias on public trust in law enforcement, with political ideology being a notable determinant in forming opinions on both immigration and policing. The findings emphasize the adverse impact of aggressive policing and racial profiling on immigrants' trust in law enforcement, highlighting the linkage between education and race in modulating perceptions of immigration policies. The results illustrate several ways sociodemographic factors influence views on these pivotal issues and underscore the critical need for policy approaches that are mindful of the diversity of experiences and attitudes within immigrant communities. By unraveling the layered influences on immigrants' perceptions of immigration and policing, this research contributes valuable insights towards developing more informed, inclusive, and empathetic policy frameworks, reflecting the complex nature of immigration and law enforcement issues in a multifaceted societal context.

Abstract

Crop-livestock integration system is an integrated approach in agriculture that has the potential to increase farmers' productivity and economic resilience, especially in rural areas such as West Seram District, Maluku Province. The system relies on a reciprocal relationship between crop and livestock components, where waste from one sector can be utilized as inputs for the other. However, the success of this system is often constrained by pest and disease attacks on crops and livestock, which can reduce production yields and farmers' income. The application of modern agrotechnology is expected to reduce these risks and optimize production potential in a sustainable manner. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of agrotechnology-based crop-livestock integration systems and their impact on agricultural productivity and farmers' income in villages such as Piru, Lokki, and Waisala. The research method used qualitative and quantitative approaches, with data collection techniques in the form of observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and questionnaires to 60 farmers who actively implement the integration system. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive and inferential statistical approaches, specifically multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that the application of agrotechnology-based integration systems had a significant positive impact, including increasing the efficiency of land use and production inputs, reducing farmers' operational costs, and strengthening resistance to biotic disturbances such as pests and diseases. The productivity of crops such as rice and corn increased by an average of 20-25%, while the efficient use of livestock waste as fertilizer and feed increased farmers' household income by 30%. This article recommends improved technology training for farmers, strengthened farmer institutions, and supporting policies from the local government to encourage the replication of sustainable integration systems in the West Seram region.
