Abstract

Market power refers to a company's ability to influence the price of goods or services in the market. In a perfectly competitive market, both buyers and sellers have set prices, therefore businesses can set their prices without affecting the market price. In contrast, in less pure market structures such as oligopoly or monopoly, businesses can set prices and influence the market. When businesses with strong market power outperform new competitors, it constrains consumer purchasing power and allows businesses to set prices and improve product quality. In addition, technology plays an important role in production efficiency, as innovation can lower costs and create new products that meet consumer needs. The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of market forces in pricing and technological advances and provide important implications for producers to determine the price of goods and services. This research uses a qualitative approach combined with a literature review approach to analyze data related to the main topic of research. The data comes from secondary literature, which includes books, scientific journals, and articles. The study found that high market concentration, where a few large firms dominate, often leads to less competition and increased market power for those firms. This can lead to higher prices, lower quality, and less innovation.

Abstract

This research was conducted in Jorong Limau Puruik, Nagari Limau Purut, Kinali District, with a focus on the role of zakat mal from layer chicken entrepreneurs in improving the community's economy. The formulation of the problem includes the role of zakat mal, the calculation of zakat mal, and the distribution of zakat mal from layer chicken entrepreneurs. This research aims to explain the contribution of zakat in improving the community's economy, calculation methods, and zakat distribution mechanisms. This research uses descriptive qualitative method with field approach. Data were obtained through interviews with zakat recipients (mustahiq), business owners, and laying hen farm employees. Primary data is supported by secondary data from the Limau Purut Nagari Wali Office. The results showed that zakat on laying hens has a significant role in improving the community's economy, both consumptively and productively. Consumptive improvements include the fulfillment of daily needs, education costs, and business capital. Meanwhile, productive improvement occurs when zakat is used as capital for small businesses that develop and have a positive impact on the economy. The calculation of zakat is analogous to trading commodities, with a rate of 2.5% without using the nisab of 85 grams of pure gold, and is paid after haul (one year). Zakat is distributed to mustahiq who are entitled to receive.

Abstract

Islamic economic thought has strong roots since the time of the Prophet PBUH and developed further during the time of Khulafaur Rashidin. This journal aims to analyze the differences in economic thinking and policies in the two periods. During the time of the Prophet, the main focus was to build an economic system based on sharia values such as justice, the prohibition of usury, and the implementation of zakat to create social solidarity. On the other hand, the Khulafaur Rasyidin period presented more complex challenges, such as the management of large areas, the distribution of wealth, and political stability. In this article, we discuss the economic policies of the caliphs in detail, including the formation of diwans, land management, and supervision of state financial administration. The study shows that the core values of Islamic economics remain consistent, but their implementation adapts to social, political, and economic dynamics. This research is expected to provide new insights into re...

Abstract

This study examines the role of social media in monitoring and preventing corruption in Indonesia, an issue that has become a primary concern among the public and government. With the increasing number of social media users in the country, these platforms are expected to serve as effective tools in enhancing public participation in overseeing corrupt practices. The research explores various aspects, including how social media enables the community to report corruption cases, share information, and build collective awareness about the impact of corruption. Additionally, this study highlights the challenges faced in utilizing social media, such as unequal access, negative responses from authorities, and the phenomenon of information fragmentation that can hinder constructive dialogue among the public. Through a literature review approach, this research analyzes various relevant sources to provide in-depth insights into the impact and effectiveness of social media in preventing corruption. The findings of this study are expected to offer recommendations for maximizing the potential of social media as a tool to support transparency and public accountability in Indonesia. With a better understanding of the role of social media, it is hoped that both the public and government can collaborate more effectively in the fight against corruption, thereby creating a cleaner and more accountable environment for future generations.

Abstract

One of the key components of success for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), including crepes businesses, is inventory management. This article discusses effective inventory management strategies to enhance operational efficiency and competitiveness of crepes SMEs in the market. Some of the methods discussed include the Just in Time (JIT) method to minimize raw material waste, demand forecasting based on sales data, and leveraging digital technology such as inventory applications to monitor stock in real time. Another strategy highlighted is the ABC classification method to categorize raw materials based on value and priority levels, establishing safety stock to anticipate uncertainties, and fostering collaboration with suppliers to ensure the availability of high-quality raw materials. By implementing these strategies, crepes SMEs are expected to manage their inventory more efficiently, reduce the risk of stock shortages or overstocking, and remain competitive in an increasingly challenging market.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of economic factors on the open unemployment rate in West Sumatra. Using panel data from 2013-2023, the analysis results show that labor force growth can lead to an increase in unemployment, especially if it is not balanced by adequate job creation. In contrast, domestic investment is shown to have a significant negative effect, supporting the theory that investment can reduce unemployment by expanding employment opportunities. However, economic growth and government expenditure did not significantly affect unemployment, suggesting that economic growth in West Sumatra was not labor-intensive enough to absorb the existing labor force. Future research should use longitudinal analysis with a longer period and qualitative methods to better understand the factors that influence unemployment. It is also important to consider other variables, such as education and labor skills, and to conduct case studies in specific regions to understand local dynamics. This study has limitations, including the use of secondary data that may not be fully accurate, unmeasured variables such as social and cultural conditions, and a geographical focus limited to West Sumatra province. Nevertheless, this research provides valuable insights and there is still much room for further exploration in understanding and addressing the issue of unemployment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of store discounts and live sales promotions on the general public's purchasing interest in Mojokerto Regency and its implications for spending on the Shopee e-commerce platform. The rapid development of e-commerce in Indonesia, especially Shopee, has given rise to various marketing strategies to increase consumer purchasing interest, such as providing discounts and live promotions. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method, where data is collected through questionnaires distributed to 384 respondents who actively shop at Shopee. Data analysis was carried out using multiple linear regression techniques to identify the effect of store discounts and live promotions on purchasing interest, as well as how they impact consumer spending. The results of the study show that both store discounts and live sales promotions have a significant effect on public purchasing interest. In addition, high purchasing interest has an impact on increasing consumer spending on the Shopee platform.

Abstract

Poverty is a problem that continues to be faced by both developed and developing countries. In developing countries with high population density, this problem is very difficult to overcome, because the increasing population not only has an impact on the economic sector, but also political instability. This research aims to determine the effect of unemployment and population on poverty in Lampung Province. This data was obtained from BPS publications for the 2019-2021 period. This research uses panel data regression analysis and produces that partially unemployment (X1) has no significant effect on poverty (Y). population (X2) has no effect on poverty (Y). Meanwhile, together, unemployment and population have no effect on poverty.
