NEOLOGIA: Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia is a peer-reviewed scientific open access journal, with e-ISSN 2829-9612 and p-ISSN 2087-2496. It has been published by the Department of Indonesian Language and Literature, Faculty of Language and Literature, Universitas Negeri Makassar. NEOLOGIA is published since 2010. NEOLOGIA is issued semiannually: in February and Auguts. NEOLOGIA publishes manuscripts on research in linguistics and literature. NEOLOGIA features research novelties and significance for scientific advancement in one of the fields of the published manuscripts. This journal welcomes submissions from around the world as well as from Indonesia. Manuscripts published include but are not limited to the following. Linguistics; phonology, morphology, syntax, discourse analysis, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, and critical discourse analysis. Literature: local literature studies, Indonesian literature, foreign literature studies, children literature, literature studies for character education, and other literary studies. The editorial board would like to receive manuscripts submitted via the online submission system. Make sure that the manuscripts meet the scope and submission guidelines of the journal. Abstract

This research aims to analyze the meaning of sense in the poetry book Ada Berita Apa Hari, Den Sastro? by Sapardi Djoko Damono which is studied using Paul Ricoeur's hermeneutic theory. This research is descriptive qualitative. The results of this study are, The first poem describes a sense of loneliness, the second poem describes two people who are disappointed and then decide to end their relationship. The next poem means someone who tries to survive the trials of life. Next, it describes the feeling of guessing about something. The next poem means that everything has been destined according to its own portion and also means to rise from suffering. The results of the interpretation of the meaning of sense contain many meanings of life that occur in society, namely a sense of loneliness, disappointment, regret, strength to undergo life trials and suffering.

Abstract

This research aims to describe icons, indices and symbols found in the process of implementing appassili bunting in Banggae village, Regency Takalar is viewed from Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic theory. This type of research is qualitative with a qualitative descriptive research design. The method used in collecting data for this research are observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this research show that in the process of implementing tradition Appassili bunting in Banggae village, Takalar Regency has the meaning of (1) icon namely tai bani and doek rancing (2) the meaning of the index is incense, akganrag, and akjeknek ri timunganga. (3) the meaning of the symbol, namely jakjakkang, kaluku na golla eja, tai bani, doek ri jakjakkang, roar lekok, lekok sirikaya, thief's curve, passili's curve, campaga's curve, scrambled, book's curve, rappo, jeknek passili, katoang, pammajak, cingcing bulaeng, kanrejawa attitudeparak. In general, the meaning contained in the appassili procession tradition pregnancy in Banggae village, Takalar Regency is to be avoided ugliness before approaching the contract, obtaining abundant fortune, and prosperous home life

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the fulfillment of needs in an arranged marriage using the theory of humanistic psychology according to Abraham Maslow. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The data and data source of this research is the novel Hold On, Its Hurt by Noveni Adelia published in 2023. The data collection technique is reading and note taking technique. In qualitative research, describing the data analysis process starts from data identification, data classification, to drawing conclusions as the final result. The results of this study indicate that there is a fulfillment of needs which include physiological needs, the need for security, the need for love and belonging, the need for self-esteem and self-actualization in the main character is well fulfilled, both from his social relationships and from himself even though at the beginning of marriage it is not maximized.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the myth in the Ballak Tujua story in Onto Village, Bantaeng Regency using Levi-Strauss's structuralism theory. The research design used was descriptive qualitative. The data in that (1) Internal structure suggests that the seven leaders performed austerities to determine the king and provide guidance, so that Tumanurung is a figure of light who descends from the sky and provides guidance. A figure was found in Sulu Cinranaya and he was appointed king from among the seven leaders. There was the Akkawaru 12 Rajab traditional party and the Appakatinja event in Ballak Tujua. People's belief in the history of Ballak Tujua (2) The external structure seen from history is in line with the internal structure that Ballak Tujua in Onto Village is a leader who performs austerities to determine who will be king, so Tumanurung provides guidance. Belief in the Ballak Tujua myth has an influence on social life, people's beliefs have an influence on belief in myths and are influenced by the belief factor that everything will lead to good and avoid all evil.The data collection techniques used were field studies and documentation. This research focuses on the myth of the Ballak Tujua story in Onto Bantaeng. The research results showed that there were 19 data obtained from community interviews which included history and beliefs in the Ballak Tujua myth

Abstract

This research explores the application of Montessori parenting strategies to enhance literacy in children aged 3-5 years using Glenn Doman's approach. It focuses on implementing these strategies and the resulting improvements in children's literacy through fairy tales as a medium. Utilizing descriptive qualitative methods, data were collected via observation, interviews, notes, and documentation. The findings demonstrate an increase in literacy following the implementation of Montessori strategies. The fairy tale "Kancil and Harimau" by Dhani Larito serves as a suitable literacy medium, promoting visual literacy and stimulating children's sensory and motor skills.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the struggle of the female character in the novel Aku Lupa Bahwa Aku Perempuan by Ihsan Abdul Quddus which is studied using existentialist feminist theory. This research uses descriptive qualitative research. The data source in this research is the novel entitled Aku Lupa Bahwa Aku Perempuan by Ihsan Abdul Quddus which was published by Alvabet in 2012 in Jakarta. The results of this research show that the female character Suad struggles to develop her career and demonstrate her existence. There are two strategies that women can use to achieve existence, including working women and intellectual women. Women can work, the female character Suad is serious about obtaining her rights in pursuing a career and success in terms of work and building relationships with many people to support the career she wants to achieve, and has a full sense of responsibility as a career woman. Abstract

This research aims to analyze icons, indices and symbols in tourism promotion in South Sulawesi using Charles Sanders Peirce's perspective of communication semiotic theory. The data comes from the South Sulawesi TVC video uploaded by the South Sulawesi Culture and Tourism Service on its official Instagram account, namely @budparsulsel. The focus in this research is the object referred to by the sign in creating visual communication. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research to describe the icons, indices and symbols contained in promotional videos. The research results show that tourism promotional videos in South Sulawesi are formed through visual signs, icons, indices and symbols chosen to represent tourist attractions in South Sulawesi. This sign not only displays natural charm, but also the values of tolerance, spirituality, culture and also the character of the people of South Sulawesi.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the discourse of hegemony in the 1998 novel by Ratna Indraswari Ibrahim using Antonio Gramsci's theory of hegemony. The research focuses on two aspects, namely forms of cultural hegemony and the theoretical concept of hegemony. This type of research is qualitative descriptive research. Data were collected through a technical literature study. The results of the research provide an overview of the form of hegemony of Javanese culture implemented by President Soeharto for thirty years. Apart from that, cultural hegemony is also illustrated through the attitudes and views of the Putri character's family regarding the culture and customs of the descendants of a wedana. The theoretical concept of hegemony contained in the novel is described by four concepts, namely, character, ideology, popular belief, the role of intellectuals, and the role of the state.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine and describe the meaning of symbols contained in the Toraja Londe so that various meanings of symbols contained in the Londe can be known. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive method using Charles S. Peirce's Semiotics as an approach. The results showed that in Londe Toraja there is a convention or the result of community agreement called symbols. Some of the symbols that have been found are related rambu Tuka’, rambu Solo’ dan Aluktodolo.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze readers' understanding of the conflicts/plot found in the novel "Dikta dan Hukum," as well as readers' responses to the visualizations used in the novel to assess the aesthetic distance and zeitgeist of the readers. This research employs qualitative phenomenological research. The results of the analysis indicate that readers' responses are influenced by various factors, including aesthetic distance and the zeitgeist they experience. Diverse responses to the conflicts and plot in the novel reflect readers' varied perspectives on the quality of literary works. The use of character visualizations, such as Doyoung as Dikta, also becomes a point of evaluation for readers, with differing opinions on the suitability of these characters with the desired image of Dikta. This research reveals that readers provide complex and varied responses to literary works, influenced by their personal experiences, preferences, and cultural contexts. Thus, this study provides valuable insights into the interaction between readers and literary works, as well as the factors that influence their judgments of a work.
