Abstract

This study examines the urgency of reconstructing the green economy concept through the maqāṣid al-syarī’ah framework developed by Jasser Auda. The research employs a qualitative method with a systematic-integrative literature review approach to synthesize Auda’s systems theory with contemporary green economic indicators. Data was collected from primary sources, specifically Auda’s seminal works, and secondary peer-reviewed journals, which were then analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Jasser Auda’s systems approach incorporating features such as wholeness (kulliyyah), openness (infitāḥiyyah), and multi-dimensionality serves as the systematic analytical framework to evaluate the ethical and philosophical foundations of the green economy. The study finds that conventional interpretations of maqāṣid are often static and fragmentary in addressing ecological crises. Through this systemic framework, the green economy is reconstructed into a model that is not only economically efficient but also ecologically responsible and socially just. This research concludes that the integration of a systems-based maqāṣid provides a comprehensive and operational solution for sustainable development in the contemporary era.

Abstract

The development of Islamic banking in Indonesia continues to grow however, the level of adoption among university students remains relatively limited. This phenomenon is particularly evident among students of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI), who formally study Islamic economics and finance but do not necessarily use Islamic banking services in their daily financial activities. Understanding the factors that drive students’ intention to use Islamic banking services is therefore essential to support the expansion of the Islamic banking industry. This study aims to analyze the determinants influencing the intention of FEBI students to use Islamic banking services. A quantitative approach was employed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM), with data collected from FEBI students through a structured questionnaire. The results indicate that perceived ease of use has a significant effect on students’ intention to use Islamic banking services, while perceived usefulness, trust, social influence, and switching cost do not show significant effects. These findings suggest that ease of use plays a crucial role in encouraging FEBI students to adopt Islamic banking services. The study provides practical implications for Islamic banks to prioritize the development of user-friendly and accessible services to attract young consumers, particularly those with an academic background in Islamic economics and finance.

Abstract

Sharia financial inclusion (SFI) plays a crucial role in promoting equitable economic development, particularly in rural areas where access to formal financial services remains limited. This study examines the integrated effects of service quality, financial literacy, and technological innovation on SFI among active Baitul Maal wat Tamwil (BMT) customers in rural South Kalimantan, Indonesia, while assessing whether socio-economic status moderates these relationships. Using survey data and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), the findings show that financial literacy and service quality have significant positive effects on SFI, underscoring the importance of customers’ capability readiness and the quality of institutional interaction in fostering participation. Technological innovation shows no significant direct effect, suggesting that digital or technological initiatives alone may be insufficient without adequate literacy and service support. Additionally, socio-economic status does not significantly moderate the proposed relationships, indicating that the positive roles of literacy and service quality are relatively consistent across socio-economic groups. The study contributes by offering an integrated empirical model of key drivers of sharia financial inclusion in rural Islamic microfinance and provides practical insights for BMTs and policymakers to prioritize service improvement and financial literacy development to strengthen sustainable SFI.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to explore the global development and digital transformation of halal supply chain research through a bibliometric analysis approach. Using 547 articles indexed in Scopus and published between 2008 and mid-2025, the study uses VOS viewer software to examine publication trends, co-authorship networks and thematic structures. The results indicate increasing scholarly interest, with dominant contributions from Southeast Asian countries. Key research clusters focus on halal logistics, traceability, blockchain, sustainability and the integration of digital technologies. The findings reveal a research gap in the empirical application of digital solutions. This study contributes to addressing this gap by mapping the current research landscape and recommending future empirical exploration to operationalise digital halal innovations.

Abstract

This research explores halal management development strategies in religious tourism at Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque, Brunei Darussalam. The main problems identified in this research include limited digital promotion, insufficient multilingual information, and a lack of innovation in halal tourism services, all of which can enhance the destination’s global attractiveness. This research aims to analyze the implementation of halal management in this religious destination and identify halal tourism management strategies. The research method employed is a qualitative approach, utilizing data collection techniques that include observation, in-depth interviews with stakeholders, and literature reviews on halal tourism management. The results showed that the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque has implemented the Brunei Halal Standard, which is strictly supervised by the Islamic Religious Council of Brunei (MUIB). Some of the main challenges include the limited number of tour guides with a deep understanding of the halal concept and the lack of digital platforms that facilitate information and service bookings for global travellers. Based on theories of halal management, destination competitiveness, and digitization, this research proposes an integrated framework to enhance Sharia services, multilingual guide training, digital innovation, and global promotion. The strategy for developing halal management in religious tourism requires integrating technological innovation, improving the quality of Sharia-compliant services, and strengthening digital promotion to increase destinations’ global competitiveness.
