Abstract

Introduction nowadays, following improvement in bone marrow transplantation (BMT) techniques, and increase in life expectancy in patients whom undergoing this procedure, researchers have paid attention toward improvement in quality of life of these patients. Some of the most important problems of these patients include anxiety, depression and sexual dysfunction. Considering that there are few studies regarding the prevalence of these disorders and its related factors and because of controversy in their results, and lack of any study in this topic in Iran, this study was performed. Material and Method: This study was a cross sectional study and the sampling method was simple sampling method. The studied community was 60 patients who were received BMT and referred to oncology clinic of Taleghani hospital in Tehran. The inclusion criteria were receiving BMT from 3 months to 3 years, and having consent for participation in the study. The exclusion criteria were not having consent for participation in the study, and the age under 18 years. The study tools were three questionnaires: Persian version of hospital anxiety and depression scale (HADS) and Arizona Sexual Experience Scale (ASEX) both were standardized previously; and a questionnaire regarding demographic data of participants and other needed data such as history of anxiety, depression and sexual dysfunction prior to BMT, type of primary disease, and type of performed BMT that were extracted from the patient’s records. After data gathering, the data was analyzed using SPSS software version 22 and using general indexes of descriptive statistics, qui-square and t-test. Results 25 participants were female and 35 men. The rate of anxiety, depression and sexual dysfunction prior to BMT were 21(35%), 10(16.7%) and 16(26.7%) respectively and after BMT were 7(11.7%), 6(10%) and 38(63.3%) respectively. Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the antioxidant activity of the Typha domingensis Pers, naturally growing pollen in the marshes of Maysan province in southern Iraq, and to link them effectively with the total flavonoids. (75 Ethanol+75 Water) for pollen these grains contain many effective plant compounds such as tannin, glucoside, alkali, saponin, polyphenols, and flavonoids. Flavonoids were extracted from pollen and detected using thin film chromatograph technique. The amount of flavons in the extract was estimated by chromatic method with aluminum chloride and was found to be approximately 71.3 milligrams per 50 grams of pollen powder. In determining antioxidant activity, the DPPH assay was used to show that the pollen extract had a good ability to inhibit DPPH free activity by 36.21% at 250 μg / ml of flavonoids compared to standard ascorbic acid (98.01% inhibition). The research concluded that the pollen extract contains the compounds of tannins, glycosides, alkalis, sapphones, flavonoids and phenolic compounds. Abstract

Rheumatoid factors (RF) are IgM autoantibody directed against the Fc portion of IgG. Rheumatoid factor is a well-established distinguishing and prognostic test in Rheumatoid Arthritis. High titer IgM RF is relatively specific for the RA diagnosis in the context of chronic poly arthritis, and was for decades the sole serologic criterion widely used in diagnosis of RA. Those, whom likely to assume a more prompt destructive form of disease in particular, are subject to early identification, It is vital to because the benefits gained in laying early aggressive mediation with disease modifying agents. A variable disease course is to be followed by patients where outcome measures are to be calculated such as functional status and radiological assessment of joint damage. An increasing risk is manifested for those patients with an established RA diagnosis. Positive testing results, anti-CCP antibodies or both are placed in a category of developing an erosive joint damage and impairment of function. As a result, patients should receive an anti-rheumatic therapy that could suppress the disease early stage activity. Patients, who are RA and anti-CCP diagnosis both be considered. Rheumatic factors are the conspicuous markers for patients with RA. Those markers are useful clinically .Antibody Rheumatic factors and anti-CCP testing is necessary for predicting and diagnosing of functional and radiographic outcomes. Patients with early diagnosed arthritis and who are anti-CCP and RA antibody positive considered being at higher and increasing risk of manifesting development of erosive joint disease. While those patients with neither markers are less likely to be develop the like symptoms, thus, symptomatic treatment (e.g. with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) may be appropriate for those lacking both anti-CCP and antibodies RF. From June 29th to October 1st (2016) this research was conducted during the mentioned period at Baghdad teaching hospital consultation clinic, which involved (47)patients with RA, they were 13 male and 32 female , this data was then subjected to statistical assessment by the IBM SPSS program 20th version which comprised of the arithmetic mean, Standard deviation, SEM, the study is aiming to identify the factor of rheumatoid in the diagnosis of RA and the value of biologic markers that have been assessed for disease activity assessment and for the prognosis of rheumatoid arthritis, particularly the use of anti-CCP antibodies test in diagnosis and predicting the prognosis of rheumatoid arthritis. Keywords: Predictive and prognostic values of Rheumatoid factor, Rheumatoid factor Titer, anti-CCP antibodies.

Abstract

The study comprised Isolating and diagnosing the Campylobacter Bacteria Types from Raw Milk and its Products and its Relation to Children Diarrhea. The study is conducted in the Graduate Studies Lab. In the College of Pure Sciences. The researcher compiled (164) samples from various sources comprising of (40) raw milk samples, (40) local white cheese samples, (40) local cream samples compiled from local markets in Baqubah city during the period of time from (1/11/2017 to 15/9/2018), and (44) samples of feces from children with diarrhea (watery, mucoid, bloody) of ages between (3 months to 5 years) in Al-Batoul Hospital for Maternity and Children. Results of the study exposed that (44) samples, with a ratio of (37.0%), showed negative growth to the bacterial plantation, and (90) samples, with a rate of (62.19%) mirrored positive growth to the bacterial plantation. Moreover, it is founded that (65) samples with a ratio of (51.829%) were Campylobacter bacteria as the ratio of isolated bacteria from raw milk reached up to (20) samples with a rate of (50%), (9) samples from local white cheese with a rate of (22.5%) and (8) samples from local cream in a ratio of (20%). It is worth noting that bacteria were diagnosed in terms of ability to live on selective media (Skirrow-Preston) and the second method which is planting on non-selective media (Blood agar, Chocolate agar, Macconkey agar). In addition, the ratios of isolated bacteria from feces samples were, (5) samples of bloody sustenance (11.36%), (19) samples of mucoid sustenance (43.18 %) and (20) watery samples (45.45%). The bacteria were also diagnosed by means of micrography which showed its negativity and positivity towards Gram stein; (92.90%) were negative to Gram stein, while (8.09%) were positive to Gram stain.   Furthermore, micrography exposed their negativity to Gram stein and showed its different shapes; Bacillus, Spiral, S-shape and Bird-wing shape. Results showed an increase of bacteria in milk and milk products which included many sicknesses and sitotoxism causes which lead to diarrhea among children. Biochemical and physiological examinations were executed and isolates were oxidase-positive, catalase, urease test, Hippurate hydrolysis test, and growth test within (37o C -42o C) temperatures as well as their tolerance of salinity with concentrations between (1.5 %-3.5%).Isolates were sensitive to Nalidixic acid and resistant to Cephalothin.     Keywords: Campylobacter (C. jejuni, C. coli, C. hyointestinalis, C. lari), cadF gene, Diarrhea for children.
