Abstract

The intended purpose of the current identifying study was to know the recent occurrence of E. coli-related extended-spectrum resistant-genes of blaCTX-M, blaSHV, blaTEM and blaAMPC that are responsible for community-based acquired urinary tract infection (CAUTI) and nosocomial infections (NCI). The study also was intended to reveal the genetic-based links between recovered strains. To answer these questions, non-similar 50 isolates of E. coli were recovered from UTI samples handed by 3 hospitals in Babylon City, Iraq. These samples were subjected to cultivation processes and a polymerase chain reaction technique (PCR). The resistant genes, according to PCR, were detected in 10 positive-ESBL phenotypes of the isolates. Using PCR, The blaCTX-M and blaAMPC genes were 100%-frequently identified in those 10-positive samples. However, the other genes were detected in low rates in those samples. The results, here, identify the important role of the horizontal gene transfer (HGT) in obtaining resistance by the E. coli isolates against β-lactamase-related antibiotics in Iraq.      Keywords: E. coli, Extended, β-lactamase resistant genes, Spectrum.

Abstract

Bioethanol is an alcohol made by fermentation, mostly from carbohydrates produced in sugar or starch crops such as corn or sugarcane. Cellulosic biomass, derived from non-food sources, such as trees and grasses, is also being developed as a feedstock for ethanol production. Concentrated acid hydrolysis, dilute acid hydrolysis, wet milling process, dry milling process, sugar fermentation and fractional distillation process were used for production of bioethanol. Bioethanol is colourless and clear liquid. Brazil and United States of America are the largest ethanol producers, widely used alternative automotive fuel consists lower toxicity level. India produced 111 crore liters of ethanol in year 2015-2016, while the production was 38 crore liters in 2013-2014. Bioethanol fuel is mainly produced by the sugar or cellulosic fermentation process and it is transport fuel to replace gasoline and power generation by thermal combustion, fuel for fuel cells by thermochemical reaction, fuel in cogeneration systems and feedstock in the chemical industries because it is much more environmental friendly. Keywords: Bioethanol, Starch, Fuel, Hydrolysis, Hexoses, Fermentation.

Abstract

Increase in frequency of acute respiratory viral infection (ARVI) and difficult economic situation in Ukraine require rational use of financial resources to treat this disease in children. Comprehensive analysis on background of additional pharmacoeconomic methods: ABC-, VEN- and frequency analysis based on study of results of 180 children with ARVI - allows to estimate  cost of drugs in hospital of Burin town, Sumy region, Ukraine. It has been found out that part of money turned out to have been used inefficiently for treatment of children with ARVI and pharmacotherapy not always to be in line with government regulations because 16.15 % - 38.69 % of all funds were spent on drugs not included in Clinical Protocols for ARVI and related diseases. That is why there is an opportunity to cut down expenditures spent on unnecessary drugs during treatment period. Keywords: Drugs for treatment of children with acute respiratory viral infections, Clinical and economic analysis.

Abstract

Psoriasis is multi-factorial disease resulted in response to increase secretion of inflammatory cytokines or deficiency in certain vitamins such as vitamin D3. This study aims to evaluate the levels of vitamin D3 and its receptor (VDR) in psoriatic patients and healthy control, additionally to determine the ratio between vitamin/receptor and their relative risk in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. This study was design as a case-control study and includes 45 psoriatic subjects and 45 healthy controls. The results of currents study were found a significant decrease in vitamin D3, VDR levels and vitamin D3/ VDR ratio when compared with the healthy control group. The relative risk for VDR levels with psoriasis found to be positively significantly associated, whereas those for vitamin D3 levels with psoriasis were insignificant. In conclusion, the relative risk for VDR is more than that for calicitriol and this support the pathogenic role of VDR abnormality in psoriasis.Key words: Vitamin D, Vitamin D receptor, Psoriasis, Keratinocyte, Babylon.
