Abstract

This study explores the morphological process of affixation as a core mechanism in language formation, specifically within the context of the Serambi Indonesia newspaper, 2023 edition. Affixation refers to the addition of morphemes—prefixes, infixes, suffixes, confixes, and simulfixes—to root words, thereby creating new lexical forms and meanings. The research investigates how these affixation forms contribute to word formation and grammatical function in written media. Employing a qualitative descriptive methodology, the study involves collecting linguistic data from news articles and systematically categorizing the affixes based on their types and structural roles. The main research question centers on identifying the patterns and frequency of affixation used in the selected texts. The findings reveal that five types of affixation are present: seven prefixes, one infix, four suffixes, two confixes, and two simulfixes. These results highlight the dynamic role of morphological processes in media discourse, offering insights into how affixation operates not only as a grammatical tool but also as a stylistic and semantic enhancer in journalistic language. The study concludes that affixation plays a crucial role in shaping the richness and variability of the Indonesian language as used in contemporary media.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the sentence structure and types of sentences found in Sang Pemimpi, a novel by Andrea Hirata. The research is grounded in the need to understand syntactic structures in literary texts as part of broader linguistic analysis. The central research question focuses on identifying the forms and classifications of sentences and phrases used in the novel. Employing a qualitative approach, the study utilizes descriptive analysis to examine data collected through reading and note-taking techniques. An observational method is applied to describe and interpret syntactic patterns found in the text. The findings reveal two key results: (1) based on sentence type, four categories were identified—isolated sentences, endocentric constructions, structured sentences, and syntactically correct sentences; and (2) based on core lexical categories, four phrase types were found—noun phrases, verb phrases, adjective phrases, and numeral phrases. These results indicate that Sang Pemimpi demonstrates a rich syntactic diversity, making it a valuable resource for linguistic and syntactic study within literary discourse.

Abstract

This study investigates the use of lexemes that carry lexical and grammatical meanings and examines how both contribute to meaning construction in the Tabangun Aceh newspaper, December 7, 2023 edition. As essential tools for disseminating information, newspapers—both print and digital—hold a significant place in public communication. However, the interpretation of news headlines is often influenced by ambiguous word choices, leading to multiple readings. This issue stems largely from the interplay between lexical and grammatical meaning, which may not always align clearly within journalistic language. Employing a qualitative research approach with a documentation method, this study draws data from digital newspaper texts. The analysis focuses on identifying and interpreting lexical units and syntactic structures that lead to ambiguity or misinterpretation. The findings reveal that lexical meaning, when not supported by appropriate grammatical context, can obscure intended messages and influence reader perception. Thus, the clarity of language in media discourse depends not only on vocabulary but also on how grammatical structures shape the delivery of information. The study underscores the importance of linguistic precision in the formulation of news headlines to ensure effective communication.

Abstract

This study investigates the phonological features of the Acehnese language, focusing on the dialect spoken in Bakongan, South Aceh. The research aims to explore the use of diphthongs and consonant clusters as distinctive elements that reflect regional variation within the Acehnese linguistic landscape. Employing a qualitative descriptive method, this study analyzes data derived from native speaker utterances, emphasizing phonetic patterns and phonological shifts. The findings reveal several unique diphthong forms in the Bakongan dialect, including /eu/, /ie/, /ée/, /eue/, /oe/, /ue/, /ai/, and /oi/, which differ in both usage and distribution from those in standard Acehnese. Furthermore, the study highlights the prominence of consonant clusters—particularly those involving the consonant "r"—as a marked feature in the speech of Bakongan speakers. These phonological variations contribute to the dialect's distinctiveness and underline the internal diversity of the Acehnese language. In conclusion, the research underscores the necessity of documenting local dialects to preserve linguistic richness and to support broader efforts in language maintenance and revitalization, especially in multilingual regions like Aceh.

Abstract

This study examines the working system and the role of the Subdistrict Election Committee (PPK) of South Panyabungan in supporting the success of the 2024 simultaneous regional elections (Pilkada) in Mandailing Natal Regency, Indonesia. The research is motivated by the strategic role of PPK as a frontline executor in the electoral process at the subdistrict level, which significantly influences electoral integrity and voter participation. The central research question explores how the PPK's organizational structure, task implementation, and coordination mechanisms contribute to the smooth execution of Pilkada. Employing a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through in-depth interviews with election officials, field observations, and document analysis. The findings reveal that the PPK of South Panyabungan plays a pivotal role in administrative preparation, community engagement, and inter-institutional coordination. However, challenges such as limited resources, time constraints, and varying levels of voter education remain. The study concludes that despite these constraints, the PPK demonstrated adaptive strategies and institutional resilience, which collectively contributed to the effective implementation of the 2024 regional elections at the grassroots level.
