Abstract

Dengue fever is an infectious disease caused by the dengue virus which is carried by the Aedesaegypti and Aedesalbopictus mosquitoes. In DHF patients, thrombocytopenia occurs due to the appearance of antibodies against platelets due to the formation of antigen-antibody complexes. Monocytes are cells capable of fighting infection and responding to dengue-related immunity. This study aims to determine the relationship between Platelet Value and Monocyte Count in Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever Patients at Bhayangkara Hospital, Kediri City. This study used a cross-sectional survey research design. The population of this study is a total of 29 patients. The sample of this study were 26 patients using Accidental Sampling method. The average result of examining the value of Platelets was 64.08 mm³ (64,080 µL) and the number of Monocytes was 15.57%. The results of the examination data were analyzed using Spearman Rank, the value of p = 0.476 (> 0.05) and r = -0.146 means that the correlation level is very low. The conclusion of this study is that there is no correlation between the value of Platelets and the number of Monocytes in Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever Patients at Bhayangkara Hospital, Kediri City.

Abstract

Background: Based on data from the World Health Organization in 2015, the number of maternal deaths is around 2.7 million cases, perineal rupture in delivering mothers, this figure is estimated to reach 6.3 million by the year 2050, some of which are caused by perineal wounds. According to the Demographic and Health Survey data in Indonesia in 2017, the maternal mortality rate is 305/100,000 live births caused by infections, including those in perineal wounds. The maternal mortality rate in various provinces in Indonesia has decreased from 4,226 to 4,221. In 2019, the highest maternal mortality rate was attributed to hemorrhage (30.3%) and postpartum infection (5%) (Indonesian Health Profile, 2019). One of the indicators to reduce maternal mortality during childbirth is preventive efforts undertaken during the postpartum period. These efforts include both medical and traditional treatments. Traditional wound treatment using natural ingredients such as red betel leaf, turmeric tamarind concoction, binahong, etc., has been proven to have chemical components that can kill Staphylococcus aureus bacteria and Candida Albicans fungus, thereby accelerating the healing process (Sari, 2017). Red Betel Leaf (Piper Crocatum) is a very popular traditional remedy and is most commonly found in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the Effectiveness of Red Betel Leaf Decoction on Healing Perineal Wounds of Degree II at the PPK 1 Clinic, 1st Yonkes 1 Kostrad Bogor, West Java in 2023. Method: This is a quantitative study using quasi-experimental methods, which includes a control group. The research design used is a posttest-only control group design. The population of this study is all postpartum mothers at the PPK 1 Clinic, 1st Yonkes 1 Kostrad Bogor, West Java, who experienced perineal tears from March to June 2023, with a sample size of 30 postpartum mothers, divided into 15 experimental groups and 15 control groups. In this study, sampling was done using a non-probability sampling approach, specifically purposive sampling. Results: The statistical test results yielded a p-value of 0.024 (p<0.05), indicating a significant difference between the average healing time of perineal wounds in the intervention group and the control group. Conclusion: There is a significant difference between the average healing time of perineal wounds in the intervention group and the control group. It is hoped that this can become an alternative choice for non-pharmacological treatment and serve as an evaluation material regarding the influence of red betel leaf decoction on perineal wound healing, thus it is recommended for midwives to enhance education to postpartum mothers on the use of red betel leaf as a means of treating perineal wounds.

Abstract

Dermatophytes themselves are filamentous fungi with the ability to attack keratinized tissue such as skin, hair and nails. Classically, dermatophytes are divided into three genera, namely Trichophyton, Epidermophyton, and Microsporum. Dermatophyte infections are generally limited to the stratum corneum of the epidermis, especially in tropical areas with hot conditions that are ideal for the growth of dermatophytes, especially in moist areas of the body. National epidemiological data on tinea corporis for Indonesia is still not available. According to data on dermatophytosis cases found in the Skin and Venereology Mycology Division of Dr. Soetomo Surabaya for the 2014-2016 period, it was found that the percentage of tinea corporis cases was 56.1%, followed by tinea cruris at 34.3%, and tinea capitis at 6.4%. Predisposing factors for this disease in the host include lack of hygiene and immunocompromised conditions. Fold areas including the groin and armpits are more susceptible to infection due to excessive sweating and friction. Environmental factors that put a person at a higher chance of contracting the disease include high humidity, high temperatures and tight clothing. The clinical manifestation is the presence of a characteristic circular lesion, usually with firm borders, pink to erythematous with raised edges. As the lesion develops, the central area of the lesion is usually calmer (central healing) and the lesion is annular with a scaly edge area. Supporting examinations were carried out with KOH solution. Management in general is in the form of educating patients to wear light and loose clothing and keep the skin clean and dry. Specific management includes administering topical antifungals or systemic antifungals

Abstract

Schizophrenia is a psychiatric diagnosis that indicates a mental disorder characterized by abnormal perception or disturbances regarding reality. A number of abnormalities in patients with schizophrenia have been linked to the field of psychoneuroimmunology. Schizophrenia occurs due to various factors (multifactorial), including genetic factors, environment and neurological abnormalities. Psychologically, schizophrenia occurs due to a mismatch between affection, cognition and behavior. Neurologically, in schizophrenia there is overactivity of the dopaminergic system, in the main dopamine pathway, namely in the mesolimbic, mesocortex, nigrostriatal and tuberoinfundibular, as well as increased serotonergic activity. Meanwhile, immunologically, schizophrenia occurs due to changes in microglia activity which affects the immune response and an increase in pro-inflammatory cytokines. The clinical manifestations of schizophrenia consist of 3 categories of symptoms, in the form of positive symptoms, negative symptoms and cognitive symptoms/interpersonal relationship disorders. Management of schizophrenia is carried out comprehensively with pharmacological antipsychotic treatment and psychosocial therapy which aims to improve quality of life and reduce morbidity and mortality of the disease.

Abstract

Mycobacterium tuberculosis is a bacterium that causes tuberculosis disease, which in the healing process requires a long time because this bacterium has a resting phase or what is called a dormant phase. This is one of the factors that cause patients who are undergoing tuberculosis treatment to experience saturation and stop treatment before the specified time. Resistance to antituberculosis drugs is a result of negligence in treatment so that bacteria become resistant to several types of antituberculosis drugs called multidrug resistance tuberculosis (MDR TB). This systematic review aims to examine the molecular structure of Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria and its correlation with the mechanism of resistance to antituberculosis drugs, especially Isoniazid and Rifampicin..
