Abstract

Kubu Raya Regency, particularly Rasau Jaya District, is a region in West Kalimantan dominated by peatlands. One of the leading agricultural products in this area is cucumber. However, cucumber production in Rasau Jaya District experiences significant annual fluctuations. These fluctuations are caused by various risks, such as vulnerability to climate change, which triggers pest and plant disease outbreaks, and physical and chemical damage to peatlands. This study, conducted in 2023, aims to describe cucumber production outcomes, analyze factors affecting production risks, and measure the magnitude of those risks. Data were collected from 30 respondents who are cucumber farmers in Rasau Jaya District. The research highlights that peatlands, while fertile, are highly sensitive to environmental changes, making risk management crucial for sustainable agriculture. Farmers face challenges such as limited access to agricultural inputs and unpredictable weather conditions, further amplifying the risks in cucumber farming. The socio-economic characteristics of respondents, including education levels and farming experience, also play a role in managing production risks. Data analysis was performed using the coefficient of variation (CV) method and multiple linear regression. The results show that the production risk of cucumber farming in peatlands has a CV value of 0.009, indicating a low risk (CV < 0.5). The analyzed factors include land area, seeds, labor, lime usage, and poles and strings. These factors significantly influence the production risks of cucumbers in the area. This study provides insights into the conditions and risks of cucumber cultivation in the peatlands of Rasau Jaya. The information obtained can serve as a basis for better risk management in peatland agricultural practices.

Abstract

With a large percentage of its population working in agriculture, Indonesia is an agrarian country. Currently, Indonesia has not achieved maize self-sufficiency. The substantial increase in maize imports reflects Indonesia's growing dependence on foreign supplies. Indonesia imports maize from countries such as the United States, Thailand, South Africa, Brazil, and Argentina. Blora District is the second-largest maize harvest area in Central Java Province. In the last three years, maize production in the Blora district has increased, indicating the potential to increase maize production further. This study analyzes the costs, revenues, and income of maize farming in the Blora district. The primary method used in this research is descriptive quantitative analysis. This research was conducted in April-June 2024. The research location was purposively selected in the Blora district, particularly in Todanan, Randublatung, and Jati sub-districts. The research variables used in this study were maize production (kg), land area (Ha), labor (HOK), seeds (kg), urea fertilizer (kg), phonska fertilizer (kg), other fertilizers (kg), and pesticides (liters). Based on Lemeshow's formula, the sample obtained in this study was 92.1984, then researchers simplified it to 92 farmer samples. The distribution of the number of farmer samples in the Blora district was 32 samples for the Randublatung sub-district, 30 samples for the Todanan sub-district, and 30 samples for the Jati sub-district. The analysis method used was cost, revenue, and farm income analysis. The study concluded that maize production in the Blora district requires an average farming cost of IDR 6,164,101.06 for one planting season per 0.44 hectare. The average revenue generated from maize production per 0.44 hectare is IDR 17,573,500. The average income farmers earn from maize farming in Blora district is IDR 11,409,268.50 per 0.44 hectare.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the financial performance of curly red chili farming based on different strata of land area in Suka Sari Village, Kepahiang Regency. There are not many studies that discuss the financial performance of farming, especially those that use financial ratio analysis tools, let alone literature that examines differences in financial performance based on land strata, especially in the context of liquidity and profitability, which are influenced by the size and condition of the farming land used. The research involved 26 curly red chili farmer respondents of narrow, medium, and large land area strata. The liquidity ratio is a measure used to assess the ability of a business to meet its short-term obligations using its current assets. The profitability ratio measures the extent to which a business can generate profits from sales or total assets owned. The research results show that the liquidity ratio of curly red chili farming in the three strata of land area is reasonable, with the Current Ratio and Cash Ratio values greater than 1, which indicates that this farming can fulfill its short-term obligations well. The profitability ratio of curly red chili farming in Suka Sari Village is good with NPM values > 15%, GPM > 20%, RoA > 8%, and RoE > 20%, which means farming has large profits so it is suitable for use as a commercial business. This research recommends that farmers maintain or improve their financial management, especially in managing costs and resources, to support the continuity and sustainability of the curly red chili farming business in Suka Sari Village.

Abstract

Tea is a plantation commodity that contributes to GDP and is a source of foreign exchange for the country. PT Perkebunan Tambi is a company that cultivates, processes, and markets tea. In its marketing process, PT Perkebunan Tambi has obstacles, namely the number of competitors in the market. This study aims to identify the stimulus, buyer's black box, and purchasing decisions for Tambi Tea. This identification is expected to help PT Perkebunan Tambi map several key factors consumers consider when choosing tea products. Black Box Theory consists of 3 parts: stimulation, buyer's black box, and response. This research was conducted in Wonosobo Regency from December 2023 to January 2024. The respondents in this study were 100 consumers who had bought Tambi Tea, which they obtained accidentally at markets or shops that sell Tambi Tea. The data collection technique was interviewed using questionnaires. The data is presented descriptively with data analysis using the black box theory consumer behavior model introduced by Kotler. Based on the research, consumer stimulus in the form of marketing stimulus can be explained through product, price, promotion, and distribution channels—characteristics of female consumers in the adult age group who work as housewives. The purchasing decision process includes several stages: problem recognition, information search, alternative evaluation, purchasing, and post-purchase behavior. Tambi Tea has a positive image as a local product that consumers demand from generation to generation. The cultural behavior of consuming tea in the Wonosobo community makes Tambi Tea a daily necessity. PT Perkebunan Tambi is expected to maintain quality and price so consumers are loyal.

Abstract

Watludan Village is located in Teon Nila Serua District, Central Maluku Regency, Maluku Province. Extension communication activities and agricultural programs provided by the government have also been carried out by extension workers, but the availability of extension workers is still lacking in the area, so it becomes one of the influencing factors. Extension communication can increase farmers' knowledge and renewable skills in managing crop yields, ultimately increasing farmer satisfaction. This research evaluates the effectiveness of communication extension service farmers' satisfaction in Watludan Village. Quantitative research method with Spearman rank correlation analysis and research period 16 November - 11 December 2023, sample determination was conducted through purposive sampling of farmers engaged in agricultural activities, with a sample size that includes 14 farmers present in the area. The results of the study indicate that overall, the effectiveness of extension is not optimal because many respondents are still in the "Less Good" and "Enough" categories in terms of acceptance, understanding of messages, changes in attitudes, changes in behavior, and feedback. The satisfaction level among farmers regarding the effectiveness of extension workers remains low, with the majority of farmers feeling less satisfied with the three aspects. There is a significant and positive influence between the effectiveness of extension communication and the level of farmer satisfaction. This research assesses how extension communication impacts farmer satisfaction in Watludan Village, central Maluku Regency.
