Abstract

Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae are larvae that are able to decompose and convert various types of organic waste including kitchen waste, vegetables, fruits, bread, and fermented foods. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of fermentation time, optimum time, and environmental factors in the form of pH to reduce ash mackerel head waste and white mustard greens by black soldier fly larvae. The study was conducted from July 1 to September 30, 2024, located at the BSF Maggot House. Based on the research that has been done, it is known that F3 is the treatment that has the largest WRI value of 5.33% and has a superior length and weight compared to other treatments. Fermented feed can affect the reduction value of organic waste compared to non-fermented feed, and the optimum fermentation time to be given to BSF larvae is three days. Furthermore, the study found that highly acidic conditions, specifically a pH of 4, adversely affected the larvae's survival rate, resulting in a higher mortality rate.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the diversity of bush insects around Mount Gede Pangrango National Park. This study uses an explorative method with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection was carried out for two days using insect net and hand collecting techniques. The results of the study found 19 insect species from 4 different orders, namely: Lepidoptera, Diptera, Coleoptera, and Orthoptera. Morphological analysis shows variations in adaptation, such as: camouflage, antenna structure, and color patterns on the wings that support the ecology and role of insects in the ecosystem. This diversity reflects the importance of bush vegetation as a habitat supporting a balanced ecosystem. This study also revealed that several insect species have significant ecological value in the process of pollination and natural pest control. In addition, several species show unique morphological adaptations to survive in a dynamic bush environment. The insect species found have the potential as bioindicators of environmental health. This study also highlights the importance of bush vegetation conservation to support the sustainability of insect populations and maintain ecosystem balance. These findings provide a basis for further research on insect taxonomy and conservation in similar habitats.

Abstract

This research is a literature review aimed at analyzing the concept and application of 21st-century skills-oriented science education in the context of higher education. 21st-century science education emphasizes the development of critical skills such as problem-solving, collaboration, communication, creativity, and digital literacy, which are considered essential for facing global challenges and rapid technological advancements. This study identifies trends, approaches, and challenges faced in integrating these skills into the science education curriculum at higher education institutions. Based on an analysis of various literature, it was found that although there are efforts to design learning that develops these skills, their implementation still faces various obstacles, such as limited resources, resistance to curriculum changes, and a lack of training for educators. This research provides recommendations for the development of policies and learning strategies that better support the integration of 21st-century skills in science education at the higher education level. The use of digital technology can enrich students' learning experiences and provide broader access to educational resources.

Abstract

This study aims to develop learning tools that integrate peer assessment in a cooperative learning model of the numbered head together type to train students' social skills. The learning tools were developed using the Dick & Carey model. The learning tools developed were lesson plans, student books, student worksheets, learning outcome tests, and peer assessment sheets. The research data obtained were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that students' social skills for each meeting increased. Meanwhile, learning outcomes showed a significant increase compared to the values obtained during the pre-test.

Abstract

This research aims to test the effectiveness of pamphlets through validation sheets as an information medium in increasing the knowledge and awareness of local tourists regarding existing tourist destinations. The pamphlet is designed to convey clear and engaging information about tourist attractions, facilities, and the benefits that local tourists can gain. This research is a development study using the 4D model from Thiagarajan et al. (1974) modified into 3D. The data collection technique used a validation sheet given to three expert validators competent in the fields of content/material, appearance, and language. The data analysis technique used is the percentage technique. The results of the content/material expert assessment obtained a total validation score of 26 with an average score of 86%, validation by the display expert obtained a total validation score of 28 with an average score of 70%, and validation by the language expert obtained a total validation score of 40 with an average score of 80%. The validation results from the three validators yielded a total average score of 78% with valid criteria, and the validated pamphlet was declared suitable for use without revision. Thus, the pamphlet is declared effective and suitable as a means to enhance the knowledge and awareness of local tourists, and it can be widely applied in tourism promotion efforts.
