Abstract

This study analyzes the level of satisfaction of broiler farmers with the performance of Artificial Insemination (IB) officers in Central Lombok Regency. A quantitative survey method with a descriptive approach was used to collect data from 99 farmers spread across four sub-districts. Service per Conception (S/C), Conception Rate (CR), and Non Return Rate (NRR) parameters were used to assess the technical performance of IB officers. The results of the study show that the level of satisfaction varies between sub-districts, with the performance of IB officers in Jonggat and Pringgarata Districts being more optimal than other regions. This analysis provides recommendations in the form of increasing the technical capacity of officers, as well as increasing education for farmers to support the success of IB programs in the region.

Abstract

Mathematical representation skills are one of the essential competencies that elementary school students need to have. However, there are still many students who experience learning obstacles in connecting mathematical concepts with the context of daily life. This is due to the abstract nature of mathematics, making it difficult for students to convey mathematical ideas in a representative manner. This research aims to improve students' mathematical representation skills through project-based learning by utilizing inorganic waste as a learning medium. This study uses a pre-experimental method with a one group pretest-posttest design. The research activity was carried out at UPTD SD Negeri 18 Juli by involving 25 grade III students as research subjects. Data collection is carried out through observation, initial tests, and final tests, while discussion activities are facilitated through Student Worksheets (LKS). The research instrument is in the form of description questions that contain indicators of mathematical representation ability. The results showed a significant increase in the three aspects of mathematical representation, namely the visual (from a score of 4.5 to 7.6), the symbolic (from 4.3 to 8.0), and the verbal (from 5.0 to 8.3). Thus, it can be concluded that project-based learning by utilizing inorganic waste is effective in improving the mathematical representation skills of elementary school students. In addition, this approach also fosters environmental awareness and students' creativity in recycling waste into products with useful value.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of intercultural communication in fostering religious tolerance during the implementation of the takbiran keliling tradition in Kepaon Village, South Denpasar, Bali. Kepaon is a multicultural area inhabited by a Hindu majority and a significant Muslim minority, both of whom have maintained harmonious relations through effective communication and strong cultural acculturation. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Informants include Hindu customary leaders, Muslim religious figures, banjar leaders, pecalang, takbiran organizers, youth groups, and local residents involved in the event. The findings reveal that intercultural communication in Kepaon is effective due to intensive coordination among religious leaders, the use of local languages and cultural symbols, and continuous social interaction between Hindus and Muslims. The takbiran keliling, which often contains the potential for conflict in other regions, becomes a space for collaboration and active tolerance in Kepaon, supported by Hindu communities, pecalang escorts, and beleganjur performances by Hindu youth. This study concludes that intercultural communication based on local wisdom such as Menyama Braya and long-standing genealogical ties is crucial in maintaining social harmony. The results provide valuable insight into intercultural communication practices in multicultural settings and offer a model for managing minority religious activities peacefully in other regions.

Abstract

Malnutrition remains a significant public health problem in developing countries, including Indonesia. In addition to stunting that has received a lot of attention, the problem of underweight nutrition in toddlers still requires serious studies and interventions. This study aims to model the nonlinear relationship between age and weight of toddlers, as well as identify factors that affect the incidence of underweight in West Lombok Regency. The semiparametric approach is used by applying piecewise polynomial regression and truncated splines with variations in polynomial orders and number of node points. The research data included toddler weight as a response variable, as well as 22 predictor variables representing the child's health condition, maternal characteristics, feeding practices, and household sanitation. The selection of the best model is made based on the Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) criteria. The results of the analysis showed that the two-order piecewise polynomial model with four knots was the best model, indicated by the lowest AIC value and the coefficient of determination (R²) of 97%. These findings indicate that the problem of underweight in toddlers is complex and multidimensional, requiring an integrated intervention approach across sectors. The semiparametric approach has been shown to be effective in capturing the growth patterns of toddlers that are not linear and dynamic.
