Abstract

Numeracy learning in early childhood serves as an essential foundation for developing logical thinking skills and understanding numerical concepts. However, many teachers still face challenges in selecting engaging and age-appropriate learning media. This study aims to describe the role of teachers in early childhood numeracy learning through the use of number block media. The research method employed a literature review by examining various scholarly sources related to numeracy learning strategies, the teacher’s role, and the effectiveness of concrete media in early childhood education. The results indicate that teachers play a crucial role as designers, implementers, and facilitators of enjoyable learning activities. Number block media help children understand numbers concretely through play-based activities. The study concludes that the use of number block media is effective in stimulating children’s numeracy skills. It is recommended that teachers continue to develop creativity in selecting contextual and engaging concrete media for early childhood learners.

Abstract

The religious moral abilities of children at KB Al-Barkah had not yet developed before the habituation method was implemented. This was because some children had just entered TK B and therefore did not yet understand how to behave and act in accordance with worship practices, were not accustomed to saying “please” when they needed help, and were not used to saying “thank you” when given something. Based on the observations conducted at KB Al-Barkah, the researcher found that habituation and providing examples beforehand had a significant influence on fostering religious moral habits. The researcher observed the differences before and after the implementation of the habituation method at KB Al-Barkah. The methodology of this study used a quantitative approach with an experimental method. Data collection techniques were carried out through t-tests and documentation. Based on the collected data, it can be concluded that children’s religious moral abilities improved after the habituation method was applied. The development was clearly visible when comparing the period before and after the implementation of the habituation method.

Abstract

The main issue in this research is whether emotional abilities can affect the independence of children aged 5-6 years at RA Nurul Anwar Bekasi Timur. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between emotional abilities and the independence of early childhood children aged 5-6 years in Bekasi Timur. The research uses one group, which is the group of 5-6-year-old children (Group B). This research is a descriptive quantitative study with a correlational method. Correlational research is a non-experimental type of study that uses two variables, aiming to understand and assess the statistical relationship between them without the influence of external variables. Data collection is done using instruments and percentage calculations. The sampling technique used in this study is random sampling or cluster random sampling. Cluster random sampling is used to select samples based on regions (clusters) within the population. In this study, the researcher conducted direct observations in the field and analyzed the results of the instruments applied to the children. Additionally, data were supported by several references such as books and journals related to emotional abilities and child independence. Data analysis involved normality tests, homogeneity tests, simple linear regression analysis, linearity tests, and product moment correlation tests. The research results from observations conducted at RA Nurul Anwar using the product moment showed a coefficient value of 0.578, indicating a moderate correlation between emotion (X) and independence (Y). This means that the relationship between emotional abilities (X) and independence (Y) is considered moderate, with a positive correlation. This suggests that as emotional abilities (X) increase, independence (Y) also increases, and both variables move in the same direction. The linearity test revealed a significance value for deviation from linearity of 0.180, which is greater than 0.05, indicating a linear relationship between emotion (X) and independence (Y). Based on the findings, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between emotional abilities and the independence of children aged 5-6 years at RA Nurul Anwar.

Abstract

conducted in two cycles involving early childhood learners. Data were collected through observation and documentation. The results show an improvement in children’s science understanding from Cycle I to Cycle II. In Cycle I, children’s participation and understanding were categorized as moderate, while in Cycle II, there was a significant improvement indicated by increased curiosity, active participation, and better ability to identify differences in plant shape, color, and size. The learning process became more interactive and meaningful as children directly engaged with real objects in their environment. This study contributes to early childhood science learning by providing evidence that environmental exploration is an effective experiential learning strategy to enhance children’s cognitive development in understanding basic scientific concepts in a concrete and meaningful way.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve early childhood numeracy skills through the use of the snakes and ladders game at Al-Qur'an Jauharul Wathon Kindergarten, Setiris Village, Muaro Sebo District, Muaro Jambi Regency. The problem identified in the learning process was that children showed low interest and limited understanding of counting activities because the teaching methods used were monotonous and less interactive. This research employed Classroom Action Research using the Kemmis and McTaggart model conducted in two cycles. The subjects of this study were 15 children aged 5–6 years in Group B. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings revealed that the snakes and ladders game effectively improved children’s counting abilities. In the pre-cycle stage, only 13% of children achieved the expected level of numeracy development. After the implementation of the actions in Cycle I and Cycle II, children’s numeracy skills increased significantly, with most children reaching the category of developing as expected and developing very well. Therefore, the snakes and ladders game can be considered an enjoyable, interactive, and effective learning medium for improving early childhood numeracy skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the ATIK (Observe, Imitate, Do) model in developing children's fine motor skills through worship practice learning at the Asa Bunda Playgroup. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study to gain a deeper understanding of the learning process and dynamics of children's fine motor development. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation, followed by interactive analysis through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the ATIK model is effective in developing children's fine motor skills through systematic stages. The observe stage plays a role in building visual understanding and movement planning, the imitate stage activates sensorimotor coordination through imitation, and the do stage strengthens skills through repeated independent practice. Implementation of this model not only improves the accuracy and coordination of hand movements but also encourages independence, self-confidence, and active involvement in learning. Furthermore, worship practice as a learning context provides added value through the simultaneous integration of motor, cognitive, and spiritual aspects, resulting in a holistic and meaningful learning experience. Thus, the ATIK model can be an effective alternative pedagogical approach in early childhood education based on Islamic values.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of screen time on the social-emotional development of a 3-year-old child at KB Hajar Aswad Pacitan through a case study of a student identified as (R). The research employs a qualitative method with data collection techniques including observation, interviews with teachers and parents, and documentation. The findings indicate that excessive screen time affects social interaction skills, emotional regulation, and responsiveness to the surrounding environment. The subject shows a high interest in digital devices but experiences difficulties in two-way communication, is less responsive to peers, and displays unstable emotions when activities are disrupted. This suggests a relationship between the intensity of screen use and obstacles in early childhood social-emotional development. This study aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the effects of screen time and serve as a reference for parents and educators in managing digital media use wisely to support the optimal development of children’s social-emotional skills.
