Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) serve as the backbone of Indonesia’s economy, contributing significantly to employment creation, income distribution, and national economic growth. However, in the face of globalization and free trade, MSMEs struggle with intense competition from low-cost and high-quality imported products. This study aims to explore strategies for empowering local MSMEs to effectively compete against foreign goods in both domestic and international markets. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive method supported by literature review and policy evaluation, the research adopts a systematic approach involving multi-stakeholder synergy. Findings reveal that MSME empowerment must focus on enhancing access to finance, improving human capital, embracing digital technology, and optimizing marketing strategies. Government support in the form of adaptive regulations, robust infrastructure, and fiscal incentives is crucial to strengthening MSME competitiveness. Furthermore, the integration of information technology reduces transaction costs and significantly boosts market reach. The article proposes a collaborative empowerment model involving government, financial institutions, industry players, and civil society to foster a resilient, export-oriented MSME ecosystem.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are a strategic sector in Indonesia's economy due to their role in employment and economic growth. However, access to financing that aligns with Islamic principles remains a significant challenge. Islamic banks emerge as an alternative solution by offering interest-free financial products and promoting economic empowerment grounded in Islamic values. This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic banks in empowering MSMEs based on Islamic economics, focusing on financing, mentoring, and capacity building. The research employs a qualitative approach through literature reviews and in-depth interviews with MSME actors and Islamic bank representatives. The findings indicate that Islamic banks serve not only as financial providers through instruments such as mudharabah and musyarakah, but also as strategic partners in managerial development, entrepreneurial training, and market access. The concept of maqashid sharia underpins efforts to foster economic blessings and distributive justice for small business actors. In conclusion, the empowerment of MSMEs by Islamic banks demonstrates the synergy between Islamic financial principles and Islamic economic values, contributing to the sustainable strengthening of the ummah's economy.

Abstract

Fair and transparent elections, composed of informed citizenry and worthy leaders, are the lifeblood of a democratic system. The study upholds the significant and multifaceted role that money plays in influencing the outcomes of local government elections, with a particular focus on Chapainawabganj Sadar. In recent years, the influence of financial power in democratic processes, especially at the grassroots level, has become increasingly evident. This research aims to understand how monetary involvement affects voter behavior, candidate selection, campaign strategies, and ultimately, election results in the region. Through both quantitative and qualitative methods, including surveys, interviews, and analysis, the study finds that money is a dominant factor in determining electoral success. Candidates with substantial financial resources are able to conduct extensive campaigns, offer incentives to voters, and gain higher visibility through posters, banners, and media coverage. On the other hand, financially weaker candidates often struggle to compete on an equal footing, regardless of their merit or community support. The findings also suggest that voters in Chapainawabganj Sadar are increasingly becoming influenced by short-term material benefits such as cash, gifts, or promises of future favours, which undermines the essence of free and fair elections. This economic influence not only distorts democratic values, but also leads to the election of individuals who may prioritize personal or business interests over public welfare. Overall, the research concludes that the impact of money in local elections is deep-rooted and complex. In the case of Chapainawabganj Sadar, it not only affects the fairness of electoral competition, but also raises serious questions about the quality of representation and accountability in local government. The study calls for stronger regulations, greater transparency, and civic awareness to ensure a more democratic and equitable electoral process at the local level.

Abstract

SDG 4 stands for giving everyone good and equal education and chances to keep learning throughout life. Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) play an undeniable role in tackling educational challenges in rural Bangladesh, where poverty, lack of awareness, poor infrastructure, and social barriers limit access to quality education. This study reviews the work of NGOs over recent decades to understand how they have helped improve education in rural communities. It examines how NGOs have addressed issues such as enrollment, literacy, gender equality, community involvement, and sustainability. The findings show that NGOs have increased school attendance and literacy through community-based non-formal education, scholarships, teacher training, life skills programs, and digital learning initiatives. They have also promoted gender equality and encouraged local communities to take part in education programs. Despite their success, NGOs face challenges including funding shortages, weak infrastructure, technological gaps, social resistance, and coordination difficulties with government agencies. The study offers practical suggestions for improving collaboration with the government, securing funding, enhancing teacher support, expanding digital access, and building climate resilience into education programs. Overall, the study provides clear insights for policymakers, educators, and development practitioners aiming to strengthen rural education.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a vital role in Indonesia’s economy by creating jobs, providing goods and services, and supporting local innovation. Despite this, many MSMEs still face difficulties in financial management, especially in transaction recording and reporting. Kedai Mikaba, a culinary MSME in Pekalongan, encountered challenges due to the absence of a structured bookkeeping system. Transactions were noted manually and often incompletely, making it difficult to monitor cash flow, prepare profit and loss statements, and make informed business decisions. This community service project aimed to design and implement an accounting system using Google Sheets as a practical, low-cost, and adaptive solution. The method applied was Participatory Action Research (PAR), which actively involved the business owner in observation, interviews, system design, training, and implementation. Results showed clear improvements in transparency, accuracy, and consistency of financial records. The owner is now able to record daily transactions, view recaps in real time, and generate automatic profit and loss reports. This process not only simplified financial management but also raised awareness of systematic bookkeeping as a foundation for sustainability. Google Sheets thus demonstrates potential as an effective tool for MSMEs, while future development may focus on mobile-based applications for greater accessibility.

Abstract

The issue of pollution along the Paser River, caused by the community’s habit of indiscriminately disposing of waste, prompted KKN students to design the Operasi Taman Pinggir Kali (OPETAPIKA) program as a community-based empowerment initiative. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Opetapika by employing the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, which actively involves the community in every stage of the program. The findings reveal that Opetapika successfully transformed the riverbanks once filled with waste into a simple, clean, and green riverside park, while simultaneously fostering community participation, a sense of ownership, and collective responsibility for environmental sustainability. Despite challenges in maintaining consistent participation, the direct involvement of residents and students proved effective in encouraging behavioral change. Thus, Opetapika can be concluded as a sustainable environmental empowerment model with strong potential for replication in other regions facing similar challenges.
