Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the cryptocurrency from Islamic Perspective. Cryptocurrency is a new phenomenon to Islamic Law. It is a digital currency that is neither issued by a central bank nor a public authority, but accepted as a medium of exchange by some individuals and entities and can be transferred, stored or traded electronically. Its legal nature remains unclear some are considering it as only medium of exchange while others as commodity, couple with some of its peculiar features such as anonymity of transacting parties, lack of control and supervision by a central authority, intangibility and speculation. The paper begins with brief introduction on the Islamic law principles governing commercial transactions. The paper continues with the explanation of the concept, nature and scope of cryptocurrency from Islamic Perspective. Analytical research methodology is used to analyze the work. At the end it is observed that contemporary Muslims scholars differ as to the position of cryptocurrency in Sharia. Some look at it as halal (permissible) in principle, while others look at it as haram (prohibited). However, the research recommends that a further research need to be conducted as to the actual legal status of cryptocurrency and its impact in both social and economic life of Muslims, this will assist in making a final decision on it.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomena of ziyadah (addition) and hadzf (omission) in classical Arabic manuscripts, which are central elements in understanding the dynamics of texts. In the historical context of copying, this phenomenon is not only related to writing techniques, but also reflects the cultural and social conditions in which the text was written. The purpose of this study is to emphasize the importance of the study of ziyadah and hadzf in understanding the changing meaning and context of the text. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with text analysis, which includes the collection of data from classical texts and philological literature, as well as concrete analysis of examples of ziyadah and hadzf. The results of the study show that the addition and omission of elements in texts can affect the interpretation and public acceptance of these works. In addition, this study underscores the need for a critical methodology in analyzing and documenting text changes in order to maintain the integrity and authenticity of classical manuscripts. Thus, a deeper understanding of ziyadah and hadzf can enrich the study of the literature and history of the Arab world, as well as provide a more comprehensive insight into the influence of classical texts on the development of culture and thought in the Islamic world.

Abstract

This study examines the socio-economic and spatial transformation of Alappuzha (Alleppey) as the center of Travancore’s coir industry under late colonial rule, situating it within debates on peripheral industrialization and colonial modernity. Drawing on archival records, trade reports, and oral testimonies, the article demonstrates that Alappuzha developed as a hybrid industrial town where artisanal skill and household-based labour were integrated into factory production and global markets. The findings highlight three key dynamics. First, coir production evolved through a dual structure that combined mechanized factory units with expansive domestic spinning, sustained largely by women from marginalized castes. Second, this labour regime not only reproduced caste and gender hierarchies but also catalyzed new forms of worker mobilization, exemplified by the Travancore Labour Association, which linked industrial conflict to wider social reform movements. Third, the town’s spatial organization—rope-yards, canals, worker colonies, and merchant godowns— reflected a colonial-imperial logic that intertwined trade efficiency with social regulation, producing a distinctive form of industrial urbanism. By foregrounding the intersection of labour, caste, gender, and space, the study contributes to comparative histories of industrial peripheries, showing how Alappuzha’s coir industry exemplifies both the possibilities and contradictions of colonial industrialization in South Asia.

Abstract

Arupa Patangia Kalita’s Josnar Jhitas (2022) is a significant intervention in the literary reconstruction of gendered histories silenced by dominant colonial narratives. The novel is set against the historical backdrop of British colonial expansion and the rise of Assam’s tea industry. It focuses on the character Durgi Bhumij, an immigrant tea plantation worker and freedom fighter, whose experiences in Atharighat tea estate reveal the complex interplay of gender, class and colonial oppression. While mainstream historiography often erases the lives and resistances of women from the margins, Kalita’s narrative counters this trend by restoring the agency of characters like Durgi, who actively participated in anti-colonial efforts, including the boycott of British goods and engagement in the freedom movement. The novel offers a fictional but historically grounded portrayal of how women like Durgi navigated their lives amidst love, displacement, violence, and a sense of patriotism within the confines of colonial plantation capitalism. Situating the novel within postcolonial feminist discourse and subaltern historiography, the paper explores how Kalita reimagines history through fiction, rendering visible the otherwise erased narratives of gendered violence and anti-colonial resistance. The plantation, depicted as a space of exploitation and transformation, becomes the ground where Durgi asserts moral and political sovereignty, culminating in her participation in the Swadeshi movement and her martyrdom. The paper argues that Kalita’s novel both recuperates the nuanced gendered experiences of the colonial period and subverts dominant historiographical narratives.

Abstract

Acquiring government contracts in the Philippines is difficult. The entities that want to win contracts need to submit voluminous documents, while the processes are numerous and require months to complete. Such cumbersome measures are not new; they are a problem that can be traced back to the Spanish colonial rule of the Philippines (1565-1898). This paper aims to identify three problems that beset projects of the Spanish colonial government in the Philippines in the 19th century, and how those problems affected the social conditions at the time. The historical analysis method is used in this paper to examine archival records, government reports published in newspapers, and contemporary articles that can pinpoint those problems. This paper uses the online archival research procedures in gathering the needed data, such as those that can be accessed from the Portal de Archivos Españoles (Spanish Archives Portal) and the Miguel de Benavides Library and Archives of the University of Santos Tomas in Manila, as well as other writings relative to the said problems. This qualitative research also proves that many of the present predicaments are a continuation of the past, that is: the cited problems of the 19th century have not been arrested.

Abstract

Political culture is the shared beliefs, values, and attitudes of people about politics and government. It examines public attitudes towards democracy and government. The objectives of this research article are to compare political culture in Western nations and government with that of Bangladesh. The political cultures of Western democracies, such as the U.S. and European nations, are characterized by individualism, secularism, and a strong emphasis on democratic norms. In contrast, Bangladesh exhibits a more collectivist political culture, influenced by its colonial history, cultural traditions, and the challenges of a developing nation. This paper highlights the impact of these cultural differences on political participation, trust in government, and policy outcomes. The study finds that Western nations often exhibit higher political participation, trust in institutions, and a stronger sense of individual political rights. In contrast, Bangladesh shows more collective political engagement, influenced by social hierarchies, historical legacies, and political instability. The role of media in shaping political discourse also varies, with Western nations benefiting from diverse media outlets, while Bangladesh’s media is often constrained by political pressures. These differences reflect how culture and history shape distinct political attitudes and behaviors in both regions. Furthermore, it uses a qualitative approach, relying solely on secondary data sources such as academic articles, reports, and surveys to examine political culture trends. No primary data collection is involved.

Abstract

This study applies a Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) approach to examine how language constructs power, resistance, and ideological positioning in the highly publicized Oval Office meeting between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy on February 28, 2025. Drawing on van Dijk’s socio-cognitive model and Grice’s Cooperative Principle, the study analyzes selected exchanges from the televised interaction to uncover discursive strategies of dominance, deflection, and face negotiation. The analysis focuses on lexical choices, pragmatic violations, metaphor use, and pronoun positioning, revealing how each leader performs political identity, frames legitimacy, and navigates unequal power relations. Findings highlight how Trump's assertive lexis, coded metaphors, and interruptions reflect ideological control, while Zelenskyy’s mitigated language and pragmatic appeals reveal both resistance and vulnerability, shaped in part by his non-native English proficiency. The paper contributes to understanding how linguistic choices in real-time political talk can reinforce or disrupt power hierarchies and shape international diplomatic narratives. At the results of the study will investigate the facts that language power mostly able at determined the consequences of the political debate or conversation between two Politian leaders.
