Abstract

Background: Remote islands in Indonesia continue to experience limited access to reliable electricity due to geographical isolation and the lack of grid infrastructure. Batun Island in East Belitung Regency currently depends on diesel generators, resulting in high operational costs, fuel transportation challenges, and environmental concerns. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the feasibility and determine the optimal configuration of a standalone Solar Photovoltaic (PV) system integrated with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to meet household electricity demand. Methods: A quantitative approach was employed by integrating HOMER Pro techno-ecoomic simulation with the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) for multi-criteria decision-making. Four alternative PV–BESS configurations were evaluated based on technical, economic, environmental, regulatory, socio-cultural, and risk criteria. Results: The simulation results showed that all configurations were technically capable of supplying the estimated daily electricity demand of 89.99 kWh with a 100% renewable energy contribution. Among the evaluated alternatives, the 50 kWp PV and 200 kWh BESS configuration achieved the highest preference score of 0.889, with an AHP consistency ratio of 0.070, indicating reliable decision-making. This configuration also achieved the lowest NPC (USD 158,577) and LCOE (USD 0.37/kWh). Conclusion: The findings demonstrate that integrating HOMER Pro and AHP provides a comprehensive framework for optimizing standalone renewable energy systems and supports sustainable rural electrification planning for isolated islands in Indonesia.

Abstract

Background: Competition in the cement industry in Indonesia encourages companies to maintain production quality and efficiency. One cement company in Tuban Regency frequently faces the problem of miss-shooting bag in the cement packaging process, namely the failure of the rotary packer machine to shoot cement bags onto the filling spout, causing the bags to fall and resulting in waste. Objective: This study aims to identify the types of waste that occur, analyze the factors causing miss-shooting bag, and formulate improvement recommendations using the Lean Six Sigma approach. Methods: This study uses a quantitative descriptive research design with the DMAIC approach (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control), focusing on the Define, Measure, Analyze, and Improve stages. Data were collected through direct observation, interviews with packer operators, and secondary production records from June 2024 to May 2025 at PT X in Tuban, East Java. Results: The results show that miss-shooting bag causes defect waste and overprocessing waste. The sigma values for defects on packer machines 1 and 2 are 4.63 and 4.62, respectively, indicating that process quality is already good but still requires improvement. The fishbone diagram analysis identifies factors causing miss-shooting bag, including human, machine, material, method, and environmental factors. Conclusion: The proposed improvement recommendations include establishing bag quality standards, conducting routine machine maintenance, improving workplace cleanliness, and providing a dedicated rest area for workers to reduce miss-shooting bag incidents and improve the efficiency of the cement packaging process.

Abstract

Background: Software-Defined Networking (SDN) improves network programmability through centralized control, but this architecture also makes the controller vulnerable to Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks that may overload Packet-In processing, exhaust controller resources, and disrupt service availability. Objective: This study aims to develop and evaluate a flow-based DDoS detection and mitigation approach in SDN using a hybrid CNN-LSTM-Transformer model. Methods: The proposed model represents flow records as feature sequences, enabling CNN to capture local feature patterns, LSTM to learn sequential dependencies, and Transformer self-attention to model global inter-feature relationships. Offline evaluation was conducted on CIC-DDoS2019, inSDN, and CIC-IDS2017 using 71 features, stratified 70:20:10 training/validation/testing splits, and three independent seeds. A CNN-LSTM ablation model was used for comparison. Results: The results show the proposed model achieved mean accuracies of 99.87%, 99.98%, and 99.93% on CIC-DDoS2019, inSDN, and CIC-IDS2017, respectively. Compared with CNN-LSTM, the proposed model produced lower mean validation losses and required fewer epochs across all datasets. In real-time validation, UDP, TCP, and ICMP flooding attacks were detected within 0.0693-0.2668s and mitigated using high-priority drop rules, reducing Ryu CPU usage from 52.6%-91.4% during attacks to 0.7%-1.7% after blocking. Conclusion: The findings indicate CNN-LSTM-Transformer model provides an accurate, efficient, and deployment-oriented DDoS defense approach for emulated SDN environments. The proposed model not only achieved high accuracy in offline testing but also demonstrated feasibility in real-time SDN environments with relatively low computational overhead, achieving detection times of 0.0693–0.2668s and reducing Ryu CPU usage from up to 91.4% during attacks to below 1.7% after mitigation.

Abstract

Background: Advances in communication technology have driven the increased use of instant messaging apps like WhatsApp, including chat backup features, which are linked to security and user trust in cloud-based data storage. This situation is exacerbated by low user digital literacy, with most users unaware that WhatsApp message backups on Google Drive are not automatically protected by end-to-end encryption. Objective: This study aims to analyze the factors influencing user perceptions of security and trust in WhatsApp's chat backup feature and their impact on continued usage intentions using the Push–Pull–Mooring (PPM) model. Methods: Data were collected through an online questionnaire from 447 active WhatsApp users aged 20–50 in Indonesia and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with the help of SmartPLS 4 software. Results: The results showed that institutional privacy concerns had no significant effect on usage intention (p = 0.123), while relative privacy protection had a significant but weak effect (p = 0.049; f² = 0.008). Regarding the mooring factor, evaluation cost (p < 0.001; β = 0.309) and transition cost (p < 0.001; β = 0.510) significantly influenced switching exhaustion, while replacement cost had no significant effect. Furthermore, switching exhaustion was shown to significantly influence usage intention (β = 0.418; p < 0.001). Conclusion: Results indicate that user decisions are influenced not only by perceived security and trustworthiness, but also by barriers and psychological fatigue when considering switching services. A Goodness of Fit (GoF) value of 0.460 indicates the model's overall performance is good.

Abstract

Background:  Digital transformation has increasingly positioned Information Technology (IT) as a strategic enabler of public service quality, transparency, and data-driven decision-making. Within the Indonesian National Police (Polri), however, fragmented applications, limited data integration, and the absence of comprehensive IT governance have constrained the strategic value of digital initiatives. Objective:  This study examines the evolution of IT's role in Polri from administrative support to a strategic enabler and analyzes how IT leadership and governance mechanisms have facilitated this transition. Methods:  A qualitative approach was employed using the IT Strategic Grid framework. Data were collected through document analysis of 12 strategic and administrative documents, field observations at three Polri public service units, and international benchmarking with police organizations in the United Kingdom, India, and Singapore. Results:  The findings indicate that Polri's IT role has evolved from the Support quadrant, characterized by isolated administrative automation, to the Turnaround quadrant through the implementation of digital public services such as SIM Online, SKCK Online, E-Tilang, and SP2HP. The establishment of the ICT Committee and the development of the Presisi SuperApp have further accelerated the transition toward the Strategic quadrant by strengthening governance, service integration, and data-driven decision-making. Nevertheless, application fragmentation, interoperability limitations, cybersecurity challenges, and organizational readiness remain significant barriers to achieving fully integrated digital governance. Conclusion:  The study demonstrates that governance mechanisms and IT leadership, rather than technology alone, are the primary drivers of IT role evolution in Polri. The findings extend the application of the IT Strategic Grid to policing institutions.

Abstract

Background: Digital transformation in the healthcare sector has significantly increased the use of systems such as Hospital Information Systems (HIS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and technology infrastructure. This reliance increases risks of operational disruptions, cyber threats, and data breaches. Objective: This study aims to develop an integrated IT risk management framework that combines ISO 31000 and NIST SP 800-30, and to examine how this integration supports regulatory compliance and hospital accreditation requirements. Methods: A case study was carried out at Murni Teguh Tuban Hospital in Bali, Indonesia. Data were collected through interviews with seven informants from management and the IT unit, questionnaires, and direct observations. Risks were scored using a likelihood × impact matrix validated through source triangulation. Results: ISO 31000 was applied as the governance framework while NIST SP 800-30 guided the technical assessment at every stage. The results show that three key assets are categorized as having very high-risk levels, namely systems (20), external services and vendors (16), and hardware (15). In terms of threats, operational risks are the most significant (20). The evaluation also highlights several gaps, including the absence of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), lack of regular IT audits, and insufficient security monitoring. To address these issues, mitigation strategies focus on strengthening access controls, performing regular updates, and implementing a Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP). Conclusion: The combining of ISO 31000 and NIST SP 800-30 offers a more balanced approach, helping improve security, system resilience, and service continuity.

Abstract

Background: PT X faces serious challenges in managing network outages because the monitoring process is still fully manual, relies on customer reports, and lacks an automatic notification mechanism. This condition leads to an average of 15 disturbances per day among 250 active clients that are not handled promptly, resulting in an estimated monthly revenue loss of IDR 2,500,000. Objective: This study aims to design and develop a proactive, real-time network monitoring system using the Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) to accelerate the handling of customer connectivity disruptions through automated detection and notification. Methods: The system was developed using a Research and Development (R&D) approach based on the Borg and Gall model, integrating a MikroTik CCR1016-12G as the PPPoE server, a native PHP web server with MySQL, and the Fonnte API as a WhatsApp notification gateway. Results: Testing of 30 scenarios achieved a 100% success rate in disturbance detection, exceeding the minimum target of 95%. The average detection time was 21.37 seconds, more than 14 times faster than the manual process (5–10 minutes). Notification delivery averaged 3.70 seconds, with 93.3% of messages delivered within the 5-second threshold. Dashboard monitoring recorded a median response time of 5.91 seconds. Usability evaluation yielded a System Usability Scale (SUS) score of 99.38 (Excellent) and a Single Ease Question (SEQ) score of 7.00/7, with a 100% task-success rate. Conclusion: Developed system meets all predefined performance criteria and demonstrates the feasibility of replacing manual monitoring with an automated, real-time, and user-friendly network monitoring and notification system.

Abstract

Background: Customer segmentation is an important strategy for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to improve marketing effectiveness and maintain customer loyalty. However, conventional approaches based on static data are often unable to capture the dynamic nature of customer behavior. Objective: This study aims to develop a more comprehensive customer segmentation approach by integrating static analysis based on Recency, Frequency, and Monetary (RFM) with dynamic analysis using Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) through a Hybrid Integration Matrix for Agatek Print customers. Method: This study uses transaction data collected from May 2024 to October 2025, comprising 8,808 transactions from 2,194 customers. The data were analyzed using the K-Means and DBSCAN algorithms for static segmentation and Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) for time-series pattern analysis. Model performance was evaluated using the Silhouette Score. Results: The results show K-Means outperforms DBSCAN, achieving a Silhouette Score of 0.5491 compared with 0.0103, indicating a more stable clustering structure. The DTW analysis successfully identifies dynamic transaction behavior patterns that are not captured by static approaches, as evidenced by four DTW clusters (2,135, 2, 1, and 56 customers) that do not align with the static RFM groups, including project-based and small-scale retail transaction patterns. The integration of both approaches reveals that most customers belong to segments characterized by low customer value and inactive purchasing behavior combined with project-based transaction patterns. Conclusion: The hybrid RFM–DTW approach provides a more comprehensive understanding of customer behavior and can serve as a foundation for developing more adaptive marketing strategies in MSME contexts.
