Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of Intellectual Capital on the market value and financial performance of publicly traded companies on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI). "Intellectual Capital" encompasses a corporation's intangible resources, such as knowledge, expertise, invention, and reputation. The present study utilized financial data and information derived from the annual reports of manufacturing firms publicly listed on the IDX (Indonesia et al.) from 2018 to 2022. The panel regression analysis technique is employed to investigate the association between Intellectual Capital, quantified by the Value Added Intellectual Coefficient (VAIC), and the market value of a company, as indicated by the Price to Book Value (PBV) ratio, as well as its financial performance, as measured by financial ratios like Return on Assets (ROA). The study's findings indicate a positive correlation between intellectual capital (VAIC) and the Value of the Market (PBV).Furthermore, the research reveals that intellectual capital (VAIC) accounts for 23.0% of the variation in market performance (PBV). In the interim, the study's findings indicate a favorable correlation between intellectual capital (VAIC) and financial performance (ROA). Furthermore, the extent of the impact of intellectual capital (VAIC) on the company's financial performance (ROA) is measured at 31.6%.

Abstract

Money laundering is the process of processing the proceeds of crime to hide its illegal origins. The crime of money laundering has become a crime that has attracted much attention from the international community, including in Indonesia, and is always associated with organized crime and can be transnational in nature, such as crimes related to drugs, terrorism and corruption. Money laundering crimes have a very direct or indirect negative effect on the country's economy. The method used in this research uses a normative juridical research approach through the study of library materials using deductive reasoning methods. Money laundering, in the context of criminology, can be understood through the prism concept of crime proposed by Henry and Lanier. Anti-money laundering laws generally require recipients of funds to act with reasonable care in financial transactions. Indonesia has an independent institution called the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) which has an important role in implementing policies to prevent and eradicate money laundering as well as building an anti-money laundering and anti-terrorism financing system in Indonesia. Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 8 of 2010 regulates three types of money laundering crimes, first, active money laundering crimes, second, passive money laundering crimes, third, for those who enjoy the proceeds of money laundering crimes. Indonesia has a strong legal framework to tackle money laundering and terrorism financing and makes good use of financial information, domestic and international cooperation. Indonesia needs to focus more on improving asset recovery, risk-based supervision, and sanctions that are proportional and provide a deterrent effect. Indonesia needs to increase risk-based supervision, especially of money changers, money or value transfer services, as well as the non-financial sector, and implement sanctions that are effective and provide a deterrent effect in all sectors. Indonesia must also ensure accurate information about the true owners of all companies is available to law enforcement.

Abstract

In 2020, the learning process in Indonesia was disrupted due to the Covid-19 outbreak. The Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture has changed techniques for online-based learning activities, including biology education. This research aims to determine the problems of biology education in junior high schools in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The subjects used in this research were students and teachers. The object of this research is to analyze the problems of students and teachers in carrying out learning in junior high schools in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic. The research results show that the implementation of biology learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in online format, faces a number of challenges that affect the effectiveness of the teaching and learning process. Internet network problems, especially in rural areas, are a serious obstacle, resulting in difficulties for students' access to platforms such as WhatsApp, Zoom Meeting, Google Classroom, and Google Meeting. The difficulty in understanding biological concepts by students emphasizes the need for a more in-depth learning approach and an increase in the role of teachers in providing detailed explanations. Limited infrastructure and technological accessibility illustrate inequalities in online learning. Therefore, collaborative initiatives are needed between the government, schools, teachers and students to overcome technical obstacles and improve the quality of biology learning during the pandemic.

Abstract

As a medium of communication, buildings communicate in a language that not everyone can understand. Other communication media are needed so that the language used in the form of buildings can be translated into a language that is more easily understood by many people. Visuals are one of them. Semiotics, as the study of signs and meaning, is a theoretical basis for understanding how architectural elements can be interpreted as visual messages that convey information and experience. The aim of this research is to explore how semiotics can provide deeper insight into the process of reading and interpreting building language. The results of this research reveal that semiotics has an integral role in understanding building language and architectural visual communication. In analyzing elements such as shape, color, and space, semiotics helps identify symbols and signs that convey complex messages regarding cultural identity, function, and meaning. This research also highlights that semiotics is not just an analytical tool, but rather the key to developing an effective and meaningful building language, enabling architects to design buildings with elements that clearly convey the desired meaning. In conclusion, semiotics plays a central role in enriching the interpretation of every aspect of architectural design, making buildings not only as physical structures, but also as deep and telling visual narratives.
