Abstract

Stroke is one of the leading causes of death and neurological impairment in Indonesia. This brain attack is a medical emergency that must be treated quickly, precisely, and carefully. This research aims to determine the effect of positioning techniques on the incidence of decubitus in stroke infarction patients. The research design used was a pre-experiment with a static group comparison design approach. The sampling technique used in this research was purposive sampling, with a total sample of 24 respondents. The treatment group consisted of 12 respondents, and the control group consisted of 12 respondents. After being evaluated for a month, the Chi-Square test results were obtained with a p-value of 0.013, which means less than 0.05; this means there is an influence between positioning and the incidence of pressure ulcers. In the treatment group, the results showed that ten respondents did not experience pressure ulcers after treatment; in the control group, eight suffered from pressure ulcers. This can occur due to patient compliance and the surrounding environment in activities such as tilting left and right to prevent pressure ulcers. This positioning action, carried out between 2-3 hours can make blood circulation in the body run smoothly, so this can reduce the incidence of pressure ulcers in patients who are lying down in bed.

Abstract

Commiphora gileadensis, an aromatic plant, is traditionally used in Middle Eastern countries to prevent pain and inflammation. Fatty acid composition, peroxide number and free fatty acidity analyzes of commercially available C. gileadensis balsam oil and investigation of its effect on cell viability. Commercially available C. gileadensis balsam oil fatty acid composition, peroxide number and free fatty acidity values were determined by the IUPAC IID19 method, and MTT cell viability tests were performed on L929 fibroblast and HeLa (human epithelial cervical carcinoma) cell lines. Commercially available C. gileadensis balsam oil did not exert cytotoxic effects on both L929 fibroblast and HeLa (human epithelial cervical carcinoma) cell lines and promoted the growth of cell lines.  Due to its growth promoting feature on L929 fibroblast cells, which is a healthy cell line, this material can be used as a cell culture medium additive.

Abstract

Tangerang City Hospital still has cases of preeclampsia where in 2022 there will be 5% of preeclampsia cases. Several factors are associated with the incidence of preeclampsia in pregnant women including maternal age, parity, history of hypertension, history of DM, and stress level. This study aimed to determine the relationship between stress levels and the incidence of preeclampsia in pregnant women at Tangerang City Hospital in 2023. This study is an observational analytic study with a case-control design. The population is all pregnant women aged ≥ 20 weeks who visited the RSUD Kota Tangerang during the study. A purposive sampling technique was used to enroll the sample. The research instrument used is the DASS 42 questionnaire to assess stress levels. The relationship between stress levels and pre-eclampsia was analyzed by the chi-square test. The results of the univariate study showed that the majority of pregnant women with normal stress levels (50%) had mild stress (19.4%), moderate stress (14.5%), severe stress (13.9%), and very severe stress (1.9%). The results of the bivariate study showed that there was a significant relationship between stress levels in pregnant women ≥ 20 weeks gestation (p = 0.000) and the incidence of preeclampsia. Pregnant women with mild stress levels are at risk of preeclampsia with an OR of 4.7. It is hoped that pregnant women who experience stress in their pregnancies can accompanied by their families during their pregnancy so that they can reduce the risk of preeclampsia.

Abstract

From ancient times to now, cloves have been utilized in traditional and culinary practices. Syzygium aromaticum, also known as clove, is extracted from the buds of a flowering plant that belongs to the Myrtaceae family. This oil comprises 85% Eugenol (4-allyl-2-methoxyphenol), 5.5% Eugenyl acetate, and 1.5% β-caryophyllene. S. aromaticum is known for its antibacterial, antiviral, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. S. aromaticum has multiple beneficial effects, including antifungal, antiemetic, antispasmodic, analgesic, antiseptic, anticarcinogenic, antiallergic, and anti-mutagenic activity. However, there is a lack of comprehensive information available in the current literature. To ensure the safe and effective use of clove oil, it is important for health professionals to receive adequate training through in-service programs, symposiums, conferences, and congresses. It is crucial to remember that clove oil contains powerful chemical compounds, and uncontrolled use may result in harm. Therefore, it should only be used under the supervision of a health team. It is recommended to raise public awareness about the proper use of clove oil by health professionals.

Abstract

Laparotomy is a surgical procedure to open the abdominal cavity, with an incision in the abdominal wall to access the organs. Laparotomy can cause anxiety in the patient. Management that may be given to reduce anxiety is music therapy and aroma therapy. Both of these therapies stimulate the brain to change emotions. Anxiety before surgery has an impact on the results of surgery which can cause hypertension, increase heart rate, and can cause bleeding. This study aims to explain the effect of music therapy and aromatherapy interventions on anxiety in digestive surgery patients before laparotomy surgery. The research design used the Preferred Reporting Items for Systemic Review guidelines with an online literature search strategy using the Scopus, Science Direct, PubMed and ProQuest databases. The years of literature sources taken are 2014 to 2023. Research from 19 journals reviewed showed that there was an effect of a combination of music therapy and aromatherapy on anxiety in preoperative laparotomy digestive surgery patients. The articles reviewed were based on inclusion criteria. The results of the review of all articles showed that music therapy and aromatherapy were effective in overcoming anxiety in patients who were going to undergo laparotomy surgery. This intervention can reduce the impact or complications that may occur after laparotomy surgery. Music therapy and aromatherapy are effective interventions used as therapy to reduce anxiety levels before laparotomy surgery and can be used as independent nursing interventions that are easy and cheap to implement and have excellent benefits for patients.

Abstract

As a country with a tropical climate with high humidity, relatively high air temperature, and hot solar radiation, it can disrupt the psychological and social conditions of field workers such as farmers. Farmers have a higher risk due to their work activities under the hot sun, which has a dangerous UV index. In addition, the lack of understanding of the factors and how to prevent farmers from being exposed to UV light has caused many cases of farmers getting diseases such as heatstroke, cataracts, and skin cancer due to exposure to UV rays. This study aims to know the risk factors for the dangers of UV light and the use of PPE for agricultural workers and workers in outdoor environments. This study used the literature review method. The search was based on three databases, Science Direct, PubMed, and Google Scholar, with the last five years of publication (2019-2023). Workers who do a lot of outdoor activities, such as farmers, have a higher risk of developing skin cancer due to the scorching sun with a harmful UV index. One of the risk factors for skin cancer in agricultural workers is exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UVR) and heat. Exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UVR) is also a risk factor for skin cancer, heatstroke, and cataracts in agricultural and outdoor workers. In addition, hazardous equipment can also be another risk factor for cancer in farm workers. Agricultural workers and workers outside the field must know how to maintain their health by using shade seeking, using PPE, and using sunscreen from the dangers of UV rays so that they do not experience skin cancer, heatstroke, and cataracts.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic, which has occurred since 2020 in Indonesia, has had many impacts on society in various aspects, one of the main ones being mental and social conditions that cause stress. One thing that has an influence is the health service environment. In nursing, communication is vital in helping and building interactions between nurses and patients, and it is called therapeutic communication. This literature review aims to help analyze nurses' therapeutic communication regarding the recovery of COVID-19 patients. The method used is a search in reviews literature using three databases, Google Scholar, PubMed, and Science Direct, with the publication year 2019-2023, with the initial step of identifying keywords and then screening and filtering to get ten suitable articles from a total of 3,846 articles found. The results of 10 journals that have gone through these stages or methods state that there is no significant process in each stage of communication on patient satisfaction. In addition, there was no significant relationship between nurses' skills and how nursing care was implemented. However, therapeutic communication is proven to reduce anxiety in patients and families. The nurse's good therapeutic communication experience is evidenced by the support system, effective coping, and hope for the patient's recovery. One of the latest models in its implementation is the TAGEET model, which encourages psychological support for patients. Female gender and nurses have a relationship with therapeutic communication. If communication is lacking, it will impact the psychology of patients and nurses and the patient's recovery rate. As a nurse, you should be able to interpret the techniques and stages of good therapeutic communication to increase a patient's recovery level.
