Abstract

Backgrounds: The limited access to markets, technology, and business development opportunities has become one of the key challenges hindering the economic growth of the Outer Baduy community and local MSMEs. Objectives: This community service activity aims to empower micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and the Outer Baduy community through entrepreneurship and digital marketing training. Methodology: The program was implemented collaboratively by universities and involved 30 participants, consisting of youth, craft workers, and tourism stakeholders. Implementation methods included entrepreneurial motivation, social media-based digital marketing training, and hands-on practice in creating promotional content for local products. Findings: Results showed that 66.7% of participants were able to create digital business accounts, 50% successfully produced simple promotional content, and the majority began to understand the importance of innovation and digital market access. The resulting impacts included increased digital literacy, entrepreneurial knowledge, collaborative networks, and a shift in mindset toward technology. Conclusions: Thus, this program has proven effective as an initial model for local economic empowerment based on university collaboration that is inclusive, adaptive, and aligned with the cultural wisdom of the Outer Baduy community.

Abstract

Backgrounds: In the business world, especially in today’s era of globalization which is full of competition, accounting plays an important role in providing useful information to interested parties. Therefore, participating in accounting training since school is considered useful in equipping students with additional knowledge that can be useful in the world of work later on or when students continue their education to a higher level. Objectives: The primary objectives of this activity were to: (1) deliver structured training on general journal recording for service companies to high school students, and (2) quantitatively and qualitatively assess the effectiveness of this short-term intervention in improving participants’ understanding of fundamental accounting concepts. Methodology: The community service team from Tarumanagara University partnered with SMA Kristoforus 1 in Jakarta to conduct accounting training for students in grades 10–12. The training process involved four phases: a needs assessment survey to identify partner priorities, development of a targeted training module, in-school workshop implementation (beginning with foundational theory, followed by worked examples), and hands-on practice through problem-solving exercises to gauge comprehension. Findings: Post-training assessment indicated that the majority of participants demonstrated a sufficient grasp of the general journal recording material presented, confirming improved understanding of basic accounting principles. Conclusions: The short-term accounting training proved effective in enhancing students’ foundational accounting knowledge, supporting the value of early exposure to vocational skills in a school setting.

Abstract

Backgrounds: Community service is a crucial dimension of impactful academic work, complementing teaching and research by providing practical solutions to real societal issues. One prominent challenge faced by MSME actors in Sumbercangkring Village, Gurah Subdistrict, Kediri Regency, is the lack of strategic, comfortable, and accessible business locations. Many local entrepreneurs struggle to secure proper trading spaces, while the village possesses untapped potential in the form of a spacious parking area owned by Mr. Erwin, located along a busy main road. Objectives: This community service initiative was conducted to assist in designing a feasible food court model from marketing and management perspectives, strengthen MSME capacity in branding, promotion, and operational management, and build collaborative community involvement to support the establishment of a sustainable culinary centre. Methodology: The implementation methods included initial observation, MSME needs mapping, focus group discussions, marketing strategy mentoring, tenant management training, and the development of a comprehensive food court blueprint. Findings: The results indicate that the food court initiative provides an effective strategic solution for MSMEs by offering a representative business location, increasing collective brand visibility, and enabling marketing synergy among tenants. Conclusions: The community-based food court demonstrates strong potential as a sustainable MSME marketing hub. To ensure long-term sustainability, the programme should be further developed through partnership schemes, community-based branding, and collaborative village business models.

Abstract

Backgrounds: The rapid expansion of SME-scale restaurants, driven by social media culinary reviews, highlights the growing need for effective financial management in small business operations. Despite their increasing presence, many SME owners lack awareness of proper accounting practices and their impact on business sustainability. Dapur Mamak, an SME-scale restaurant established in 2023 and operating in the canteen of Tarumanagara University 2, West Jakarta, illustrates this condition. The business currently determines selling prices based on rough estimates and does not maintain formal bookkeeping.

Abstract

Backgrounds: Accounting plays a vital role in recording business transactions and documenting a company’s assets and financial position. Financial statements are essential tools for presenting a company’s financial condition, with the statement of financial position providing a snapshot of assets, liabilities, and equity at a specific point in time. However, high school students often have limited understanding of this report, which can hinder their financial literacy and readiness for further education or practical application. Objectives: This training activity aimed to enhance accounting knowledge related to the preparation and understanding of the statement of financial position among grade XII students at SMA Kristoforus 1. Methodology: The training was conducted through face-to-face sessions in October 2025. The program began with identifying partner needs, particularly students’ limited comprehension of the statement of financial position. The teaching team designed interactive training sessions supported by structured modules, theoretical explanations, sample problems, group exercises, discussions, and quizzes to assess understanding. Findings: Students showed high levels of enthusiasm and active participation throughout the training, including asking questions and engaging in discussions. Quiz results demonstrated a significant improvement in students’ understanding of the statement of financial position, indicating that the training effectively strengthened their accounting comprehension. Conclusions: The training program proved effective in improving students’ understanding of the statement of financial position and enhancing their financial literacy. Interactive learning methods and practical exercises were key factors contributing to the success of the activity, suggesting that similar approaches can be applied to accounting education at the secondary school level.
