Abstract

The production in industry, are involving distribution to transport the goods. Recently, distribution activities are using unmanned vehicle, that is Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV). In real condition, AGV are facing environment with complexity of high uncertainity and unlinearity. Because of this, robust control method could be considered to be used to improve the control performance. For instance, Sliding Mode Control has good robustness to the uncertainity of the system and disturbances. However, the chattering phenomenon is one of the major issues of the sliding mode control. This phenomenon could damage the motor. This research aim to reduce chattering and improve the control performance, with modifying signum function to saturation function. This research are using ROS, V-Rep and microcontroller. Microcontroller for processing algorithm and another function. Moreover, saturation function had succcessfully reducing rise time about 30%, overshoot 16% and RMSE 0.21%.

Abstract

A new novel method for area efficiency in FPGA implementation is presented. The method is realized through flexibility and wide capability of VHDL coding. This method exposes the arithmetic operations such as addition, subtraction and others. The design technique aim to reduce occupies area for multi stages circuits by selecting suitable range of all value involved in every step of calculations. Conventional and efficient VHDL coding methods are presented and the synthesis result is compared. The VHDL code which limits range of integer values is occupies less area than the one which is not. This VHDL coding method is suitable for multi stage circuits.

Abstract

Solar photovoltaic monitoring system can be directly conducted locally for the experimental purposes. However, indirect or remote monitoring is also needed since the solar panel are often installed in a a high place, rural location, or remote area. This study offers a dual solar panel monitoring system i.e. local and remote. Local monitoring system consists of voltage, current, temperature and light intensity sensors that were integrated in a kit called PVmeter. The data in the local monitoring system were displayed on a LCD or on a PC monitor using data logger. While in the remote monitoring system, the data were uploaded to the internet and displayed on Thinkspeak website hence the data are accessible whenever and wherever needed. In the local system, monitored data were successfully displayed on *.txt file format for every 5 minutes. While in the remote system, the data were successfully displayed on Thinkspeak website with a mean transfer rate of 52.5 seconds.

Abstract

Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) applies information and communication technologies for transportation management. The problem in the study is the importance of computer vision tools to determine the volume of traffic on the highway. The design of computer vision device is performed using a static camera and the bounding box method for determining the traffic volume based on vehicle type, namely light vehicles, heavy vehicles (trucks) and motorcycles that are applied on the Gaussian Mixture Models (GMM). The classification is based on the pixel area of vehicle objects. The tests were carried out at Jalan T. Nyak Arief, Jambotape, Banda Aceh. The test results of the system achieved an accuracy of 79.32%.

Abstract

The mangosteen fruit has a characteristic thick skin, so it is difficult to know the condition of the flesh. Farmer can only know damage to the fruit flesh after the fruit skin had opened. Detection of the quality of the mangosteen flesh can be detected using a sensor capable of penetrating the thickness of the mangosteen rind. Flesh quality detection is carried out based on the S21 value (attenuation of mangosteen flesh value) using a portable device equipped with a sensor and capable of emitting microwaves. The S21 value of the fruit's flesh was measured using a spiral resonator that functioned as a sensor. The prototype device consists of an oscillator circuit, a power splitter, and a phase detector with 2507 MHz. Fruit flesh had divided into two conditions: damaged for fruit flesh with yellow sap or Translucent Flesh Disorder, and suitable condition for clean fruit flesh. The results showed that the fruit flesh had an average S21 value of 7.041 dB for damaged flesh and 6.007 dB for good flesh condition. The difference in the value of S21 had used as a reference for detecting the shape of the fruit flesh, with the detection threshold calculated by the Support Vector Machine, resulting in a threshold value of 6.712 dB.

Abstract

This paper proposes an authentication mechanism on the MQ Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol. The exchange of data in the IoT system became an important activity. The MQTT protocol is a fast and lightweight communication protocol for IoT. One of the problems with the MQTT protocol is that there is no security mechanism in the initial setup. One security attack may occur during the client registration phase. The client registration phase has a vulnerability to accept false clients due to the absence of an authentication mechanism. An authentication mechanism has been previously made using Transport Layer Security (TLS). However, the TLS mechanism consumes more than 100 KB of data memory and is not suitable for devices that have limitations. Therefore, a suitable authentication mechanism for constraint devices is required. This paper proposes a protocol for authentication mechanisms using dynamic and event-based authentication for the MQTT protocol. The eventbased is used to reduce the computing burden of constraint devices. Dynamic usage is intended to provide different authentication properties for each session so that it can improve authentication security. As results, the applied of the event-based dynamic authentication protocol was successful in the constraint devices of  microcontrollers and broker. The microcontroller, as a client, is able to process the proposed protocol. The client uses 52% of the memory for the proposed protocol and only consumes 2% higher than the protocol without security. The broker can find authentic clients and constraint devices capable of computing to carry out mutual authentication processes to clients. The broker uses a maximum of 4.3 MB of real memory and a maximum CPU usage of 3.7%.

Abstract

A type of solar battery charger is introduced in this paper. This equipment functions as a medium size rechargeable battery that is needed to move culinary merchants and coastal fishermen living in area which is not supplied by electrical networks. The equipment consists of solar module mounted onto portable mechanical construction, a 12-V 7.5-Ah lead acid battery and charge controller. Solar module charges the battery through charge controller and then the battery can be discharged to power on electric lamps for lightening culinary wagon or fisherman’s boat at night. Charge controller charges the battery with float charging which is implemented by maintaining 13.5 Volt between battery terminals and limiting the charging current to 1.5 Amperes. Charge controller circuit is based on adjustable linear voltage regulator LM338. The battery is of sealed lead acid type. This type of battery is maintenance free and more hygiene than other types of lead acid battery. The field experiment of charging the baterry of 50% residual capacity from 8 am to 4 pm under sunny weather shows that the solar module has charged the battery to its full capacity under battery safe charging conditions.Keywords: portable solar battery charger, float charging, LM338

Abstract

In the current technological development era, many companies compete to produce robots that can help humans work significantly to streamline time and energy in creating an item. One of the robots being developed in this industrial area is Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV). AGV is a robot for transporting goods whose path and direction automatically. This journal will discuss the navigation system and mobility on the AGV. They are using four-wheel type Omni wheels and a DC motor as a drive. The wheel is used to adjust the direction of motion both forward, backward, right, and left. For movement settings automatically, controlled via computer vision. Using  the navigation system by following a pattern in the form of instructions using the camera as a sensor to determine the current AGV. Due to the nature of the navigation method employed, the yield of vehicle trails can be very suboptimal, especially in messy warehousing environments.

Abstract

Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN) applications are a major concern in infrastructure. Rural are areas that have a poor quality signal; the cause lies in the location of the rural regions away from the coverage area Base Transceiver Station (BTS) so that the need for telecommunications equipment in the form of Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) repeaters. GSM repeater devices require an antenna that has a large gain mainly on the receiving antenna, one antenna that has a large gain character is helix axial mode has a large dimension resembling a spring and has a directional radiation pattern properties, whereas the antenna with an omnidirectional radiation pattern is a patch meander line antenna has compact dimensions and is easy to fabricate. The meanderline patch antenna has the disadvantage one of which is the small gain caused by trapped surface waves on the ground. This research will discuss the design and realisation of helix axial mode, and patch meanderline Defected Ground Structure (DGS) for Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN) application in a rural area so it can be used for Internet of Things (IoT) based weather monitoring. Integrating antenna helix axial mode as receiving antenna and antenna patch meanderline DGS as rebroadcast antenna in GSM repeater able to make edge network in a rural area become High-Speed Packet Access + (HSPA +) network. The test result IoT based obtained the value of Received Signal Strength (RSSI) an average of -89 dBm in HSPA+ network.

Abstract

High traffic densitiy  becomes one of a big problem of transportation in many big developing cities in Indonesia. The growth number of vehicles relatively much higher if compared to the growth of road infrastructure. Banda Aceh as a central city of Aceh Province are also facing moreless the same transportation problem,where traffic becomes very usual especially in peak hour in the morning when many people start their activity. It also happened in the afternoon when most of Banda Aceh people especially the one who work as a government servant going back from work. This research is trying to analyze one of the case of daily going to work travel route of Unsyiah administration staf. The result is very important to analyze the best departure time for the staff to minimize travel time. This research have developed a simulation model using an IT technology based on vehicle traffic mobility model. The simulation offered the fastest travel time solution with the best departure time to arrive at the destination by avoiding morning peak time traffic.
