Abstract

Students grade VII’s cognitive learning outcomes at SMPK Medan were relatively low. It was caused by many factors, one of them was the learning method which was still conventional. Students were needed to improve their learning outcomes, so the researcher made the research with purpose was to know the improvement ofstudents’ learning outcomes by using Numbered Heads Together (NHT) method. The research methodology was used quasi experimental with nonequivalent control group design. The samples of this research were students at grade VII A and VII B. Grade VII B as experimental class and grade VII A as control class. Both of the classes were given treatment, the experimental class with NHT and control class with conventional learning. The improved of learning outcomes can be seen from the mean of N -Gain in experimental class was 0.39 in middle category and the control class was 0.09 in low category. The control class and experiment class had different learning result significantly. Based on the research, it can be concluded that this method can increased students’ learning outcomes at grade VII at SMPK Medan.

Abstract

AbstractMathematical problem solving in the form of word problems is very helpful in dailystudent life because this problems always related to daily life. Problems encountered in this research, it was found that the students are less capable in solving word problems. This matter  because students had not been given exercises in the form of word problems. To improve the students ability in solving word problems, researcherapply Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education Approach (PMRI). This research aims to determine that the application PMRI approach can enhance the students ability in solving word problems and find out how the application PMRI in mathematic. This research is a classroom action research (CAR) conducted in SMP UTY, the Christian school located in t Medan. Based on the research results obtained, it is known that the application PMRI approach can enhance the students ability in solving word problems, although indicators of success has not been achieved in this study.

Abstract

There are two types of tools for measuring the foot posture, uniplanar (anthropometric and radiographic types) and multiplanar tools (such as Foot Posture Index-6 and -8). The process of the foot posture measurement with both tools performed by a doctor were commonly carried out by using manual equipment such as ruler, arc, goniometer, marker and applying the observation skill by eyes. It needs time to measure for each foot. For research needs, a large number of samples has to be provided by a doctor to analyze data statistically which consumes much more time and exhaustion from work load in the measurement process. Hence, the aim of this study is to significantly decrease the measurement time and minimizing human error by developing a software of anthropometric measurements of foot posture based on digital image processing (DIP). The anthropometric tests used in this study consist of Rear Foot Angle (RFA), Medial Length Arc Angle (MLAA) and Arch Height Index (AHI). Instead of using equipment with a series of measurement to determine the foot posture, the DIP system only need two pictures of foot as the input of the system. The methods involved in the image processing are performed by a series of digital image processing, started from pre-image processing, noise filter, Sobel edge detection, feature extraction, calculation and classification. The result of the image processing is able to determine the foot posture types for all tests based on the values of angle and length of the foot variables. The error measurements of length and angle are 6.22 % and (0.26-1.74) %, respectively. This study has demonstrated the development algorithm in MATLAB to measure the foot posture, which is named Anthro-Posture v1.0 software. This software offers an efficient alternative way in measuring and classifying the foot posture in a shorter time and minimizing the human error in measurement process. In the future, this study can be improved to be used by doctors in obtaining large amounts of data for research needed.

Abstract

  Epilepsy, cured by some offered treatments such as medication, surgery, and dietary plan, is a neurological brain disorder due to disturbed nerve cell activity characterized by repeated seizures. Electroencephalographic (EEG) signal processing detects and classifies these seizures as one of the abnormality types in the brain within temporal and spectral content. The proposed method in this paper employed a combination of two feature extractions, namely coarse-grained and fractal dimension, a challenge to obtain a highly accurate procedure to evaluate and predict the epileptic EEG signal of normal, interictal, and seizure classes. The result of classification accuracy using variance fractal dimension (VFD) and quadratic support machine vector (SVM) with a number scale of 10 is 99% as the highest one, excellent performance of the predictive model in terms of the error rate. In addition, a higher scale number does not determine a higher accuracy in this study.

Abstract

Credit scoring is a system or method used by banks or other financial institutions to determine the debtor feasible or not get a loan. One of credit scoring method is used to classify the characteristics of debtor is Support Vector Machine (SVM). SVM has an excellent generalization ability to solve classification problems in a large amount of data and can generate an optimal separator function to separate two groups of data from two different classes. One of the success using SVM method is dependent on features selection process that will affect the level of classification accuracy. Various methods have done to features selection, because not all the features are able to give best classification results. Features selection that used this study is Variance Threshold, Univariate Chi - Square, Recursive Feature Elimination (RFE) and Extra Trees Classifier (ETC). Data in this study use secondary data from the database in UCI machine learning responsitory. Based on simulations to compare the accuracy of using feature selection method on SVM in classification ofcredit riskscoring, obtained that Variance Threshold and Univariate Chi – Square method can decrease accuracy while RFE and ETC method can increase accuracy. Abstract

The achievement of the graduates profile which is the goal of Mathematics Education majors Teachers College UPH is to prepare teacher candidates who have the character, calling, and competence also the graduates can role as a Mathematics teacher know the concept of knowledge. However, in the achievement of the graduates profile has not been satisfactory, because results of learning are low in some mathematics courses, especially in Calculus II course. Based on the problem, major Teachers College do a structured academic activity that is response learning. The research method used is control group posttest only design. The sample of the research are the students of Mathematics Education major that take the Calculus II course in the academic year 2015/2016 as the control group and who take the Calculus II course in the academic year 2016/2017 as the experimental group. The improvement of this reponse learning result is seen from t-test analysis, obtained the decision of hypothesis test is exist significant difference between the control class and the experimental class. Abstract

Bandung is located on the island of Java with Latitude -7.5 and longitude 107.5. This location has average solar radiation of 4.89 KWh / m2per day so suitable for solar energy utilization. Solar energy can be converted into electrical energy through photovoltaic system so that it can be applied to residential load. The design of solar power plants for residential load requires accurate calculations. In this research, HOMER was used to evaluate the design of renewable energy on grid systems at residential load 900 VA in Bandung. The research method used arecollecting solar radiation data, equipment specifications and 900 VA electrical load studies. Based on the results of the design on grid photovoltaic system using HOMER, the configuration of 6 PV 2040 Wp units, 4 unit batteries, and 2 kW inverter is the optimum configuration. The system configuration can provide 45.5% of the total daily loadconsumption with the lowest total Net Present Cost (NPC) is IDR 75,300,000.00. The On Grid system that has been designed will achieve an annual profit IDR 1,806,884.00 compared to conventional electricity usage (PLN) and only takes 7 years to recover investment costs.

Abstract

For an organization to thrive, it must have a good leader.  A good leader is one who has the ability to influence his/her followers, putting them at ease, helping them experience joy in their work, and bringing about positive change. There are various kinds of leadership styles today -- one of them is transformational leadership. Transformational leadership is regarded as an ideal style to be applied in an educational organization, specifically a school. It is believed that transformational leadership will help a school better development. To apply this kind of leadership, there are 7 principles that must be considered. They are simplification, motivation, determination, mobilization, preparation, facilitation, and innovation. Using these 7 principles, the head of the school should: determine and communicate the school’s vision and mission; evaluate and innovate the school policies; facilitate teacher and staff development; accept criticism and suggestions from teachers, staffs, parents, and students and respond positively. The head of the school should also be able to evaluate teacher and staff performance objectively, solve problems quickly and accurately, make good decisions, create a comfortable workplace, and motivate every person to give their best. Finally, the head of the school should be a role model for others.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK:  Organisasi yang berkembang pada kenyataannya tidak lepas dari seorang pemimpin yang baik. Pemimpin pada hakikatnya adalah seorang yang mampu mempengaruhi pengikutnya, membuat orang- orang yang dipimpinnya merasa nyaman dan sukacita, serta membawa perubahan positif. Banyak terdapat berbagai macam gaya kepemimpinan yang baik di era modern ini, salah satunya adalah gaya kepemimpinan transformasional. Gaya kepemimpinan transformasional ini dipandang ideal untuk diaplikasikan di sebuah organisasi sekolah untuk membawa sekolah ke perkembangan lebih baik. Untuk mengaplikasikan gaya kepemimpinan ini, maka ada 7 prinsip yang harus diperhatikan. Ketujuh prinsip tersebut adalah simplification, motivation, determination, mobilization, preparation, facilitation, dan innovation. Mengacu pada prinsip tersebut, maka hal yang dapat dilakukan kepala sekolah adalah dengan mengkomunikasikan visi dan misi, membuat standard kinerja yang jelas dan melakukan evaluasi, memperbaharui kebijakan, memfasilitasi guru dan staff untuk melakukan kebijakan baru yang ada dan untuk mengembangkan diri, mau menerima kritik dan saran dari segala pihak, guru, staff, orang tua murid, dan murid serta meresponinya dengan positif, menilai kinerja guru dan staff secara obyektif, cepat tanggap dalam mengatasi masalah dan mampu mengambil keputusan secara tepat dan benar, menciptakan suasana kerja yang nyaman dan memotivasi setiap individu yang ada di dalamnya untuk memenuhi dan melakukan tanggung jawabnya sehingga dapat memberikan hasil yang maksimal, memberikan dirinya sendiri sebagai contoh nyata.
