Abstract

The challenges for SMEs in Indonesia are growing, especially in terms of competing in an increasingly competitive and dynamic market. One of the efforts that SMEs can undertake to enhance their competitiveness is by leveraging digital technology in managing their businesses, from administrative systems to digital marketing activities for SME products. Therefore, this research aims to conduct a feasibility study of digital administration and digital marketing systems for SME products, with the research location being the Investment Gallery of the State Polytechnic of Manado, which serves as a showcase and sales platform for local SMEs' flagship products, managed by the Marketing Laboratory of the Manado State Polytechnic (Polimdo). This research was conducted using a survey method involving respondents from SMEs participating in the Manado State Polytechnic (Polimdo) Investment Gallery. The collected data were analyzed using both quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis. The observational results indicate that the majority of SMEs participating have knowledge of digital technology, but only a small portion have implemented it in their businesses. In this context, the use of digital administration and digital marketing systems can help SMEs optimize their administrative processes and enhance efficiency in managing their businesses. Additionally, the use of digital technology can assist SMEs in expanding their markets and increasing their sales. However, despite the significant benefits of using digital technology in SMEs, there are still some challenges to overcome, such as the limited technological knowledge of SME owners. Therefore, the implementation of digital administration and digital marketing systems for SMEs requires a suitable approach to ensure optimal benefits.

Abstract

Good human resource management is critical to organizational success in the frantic logistics environment. The importance of English language skills in this setting cannot be overstated. This study piece dives into the interconnected connection between human resource management and English language abilities in the logistics sector. The internationalization of trade and the spread of supply chains across borders has prompted the development of a common language for communication. English, as the international corporate lingua franca, is critical in overcoming linguistic gaps across varied logistics teams and stakeholders. This article discusses the significant impact that English proficiency has on numerous facets of logistics operations. This study looks into the critical importance of English language competency in human resource management in the logistics industry, focusing on cross-cultural communication, talent acquisition, and retention. A comprehensive analysis of the literature, case studies, and surveys within the logistics industry was conducted to assess the significance of English language skills. Our research demonstrates a significant link between English language competency and effective cross-cultural communication, which is essential for timely information exchange in logistics operations. The strategic importance of English language ability for logistics organizations is highlighted by this research. In order to enable the staff to communicate effectively and promote operational excellence, it highlights the need for ongoing investment in language training programs. The findings of this study highlight the fact that comprehending English is a strategic need in the field of global logistics, not just a desired talent.

Abstract

The current era of global economic integration undoubtedly brings consequences among the involved nations. One of the most evident consequences is the emergence of intense competition among these countries, particularly in the labor workforce. Workforce competence is crucial for businesses to remain competitive in this global competition. The knowledge and skills possessed by the workforce are inseparable from the education process. The rapid advancements of technology pose challenges for education systems to produce Human Resources (HR) capable of global engagement. Polytechnic State of Manado, as a vocational educational institution tasked with producing educated labor with global competence aligned with the needs of the business and industrial, continuously evaluates and enhances the educational processes to adapt to the dynamic industrial landscape. The analysis conducted should focus on aligning the knowledge and skills taught with the facilities available, such as the Investment Gallery Lab, Computer Lab, and Entrepreneurship Lab, to support appropriate learning implementation. Additionally, the application of teaching methods should encourage students to actively engage in the learning process. The research focus is the analysis of the learning implementation that supports achieving graduate competencies required by the industry and business world. The sub-focus is to analyze the facilities and infrastructure of laboratories in the learning process within the Business Administration department at Polytechnic State of Manado

Abstract

PT Pelindo Terminal Peti Kemas Semarang (TPKS) is a subholding of PT Pelindo that focuses on export and import container services. TPKS is one of the pioneers of the smart port concept in Indonesia, one of which is by implementing the Terminal Booking System (TBS) and Yard Plan to reduce Turn Round Time (TRT). However, in practice there are still many discrepancies between booking and gate-in hours, which have an impact on operational activities. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the Terminal Booking System, Yard Operation Plan, Turn Round Time both partially and simultaneously and to see the factors that most influence the operational effectiveness of TPKS. This study used a quantitative method of explanatory format with a population of planning, control and operational management divisions using total sampling. The results of this study indicate that there is a positive and significant influence between the Terminal Booking System, Yard Operation Plan, Turn Round Time both partially and simultaneously on the operational effectiveness of TPKS. Meanwhile, the most influential factor is the Turn Round Time variable. The conclusion is that there is a positive and significant influence between TBS, YOP, and TRT either partially or simultaneously on the operational effectiveness of TPKS. The researcher's suggestion for PT Pelindo TPKS is to be able to optimize loading and unloading activities and receiving delivery in domestic CY (Container Yard).

Abstract

Laboratories in vocational higher education have an important role in complementing the learning process for students to gain an optimum learning experience, especially in Vocational Colleges, where the quality of students is expected to possess skills and expertise that are applicable in the workplace. Laboratories in vocational higher education have many important roles in students' learning experiences, especially in the area where students are able to sharpen their practical skills by directly applying all the theories they have learned. This provides students with the opportunity to optimize and even master various skills relevant to their chosen field of study or profession. The optimization of student learning includes making laboratories function as real business entities, so that students can gain learning experiences in conditions that closely resemble those in the industry. One of the efforts to develop the potential of resources owned by a laboratory is to maximize the business potential of each laboratory, especially Commerce Laboratories. Integration between the business process and the learning process in commerce laboratories is necessary to ensure that both aspects run smoothly, rather than being misaligned. When the laboratory functions as a business entity, it can achieve maximum profit while simultaneously providing practical learning experiences to students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of Incoterm and relational resources on the competitive advantage of Indonesian Freight forwarders. The measurement methodology uses structural equation model (SEM) analysis with SmartPLS software to analyze the impact of Incoterms and relational resources on competitive advantage. Through social media, online questionnaires were sent to gather research data. The Likert scale of 5 was used to create the questionnaire. Companies that provide freight forwarding services were the respondents in this study, chosen by simple random sampling. Online questionnaires were distributed to 75 companies to answer questions submitted. The data analysis step is validity tests, reliability tests, significance tests, and hypothesis tests. Based on the data processing results, it is found that Incoterm and relational resources positively affect competitive advantages. The novelty of this study is a model of the relationship between the effect of Incoterm and relational resources on the competitive advantage of freight forwarding companies. The research's theoretical implication is that Freight forwarder companies' management should select appropriate incoterms and implement relational resource policies to encourage increased competitive advantage. One of the limitations of this study is that the sample size used is only a small number of companies engaged in international Freight Forwarder services, only 75 companies.
