Avant-garde: The Scientific Journal of Performing Arts Education is published periodically three times a year, namely in February, June and October, is a forum for channeling thoughts and disseminating knowledge in the realm of Performing Arts (drama, dance and music) and learning in the form of research articles, review articles/literature studies, case report articles, and conceptual or policy articles. Editors accept manuscripts that have never been published in other media from researchers, lecturers, students, and performing arts practitioners with the writing requirements as listed on the Author Guidelines page. Manuscript submissions will be evaluated and edited for uniformity in format, terms and other procedures.

Abstract

The process of making traditional musical instrument Gandang Tambua in Padang Pariaman Regency. This study aims to describe the process of making Gandang Tambua musical instruments. The approach used is a qualitative approach with descriptive research. This research was conducted with data collection techniques used were observation, interview and documentation techniques. The data analysis technique is done by reducing, presenting data and verifying this data aims to find out the structure, process, manufacturing techniques, playing techniques, of Gandang Tambua. This musical instrument is made of plywood and has holes (resonators), and uses goat skin. The results of this study indicate that the parts and stages of the process of making traditional musical instruments Gandang Tambua include: cutting plywood for the body of Gandang Tambua, processing goatskin (membrane), cleaning rattan, making iron battens, and how to produce sound, tuning system on traditional musical instruments Gandang Tambua. The tools used in the process of making traditional Gandang Tambua musical instruments include: Cater knife (plywood cutter), Cutting Saw, Hammer (Smoker), Measuring tool (meter), Pencil, Sandpaper, Screwdriver, Scissors, Bamboo type chamfer, Clamp. The materials are; Wooden battens (circle 40), plywood, goatskin, iron battens, rope, nails and, wood glue. The process of making Gandang Tambua musical instruments includes several stages, namely: 1) The process of making the body (plywood), until finishing fine and coarse sanding, 2) Leather processing, including shearing the skin using dry fuel ash and measuring the diameter width, 3) The installation process, including the skin to the Tambua drum body, install the iron batten and install the rope for tuning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the Payuang Sarampak Dance Movement in Sanggar Lindang Urek, East Payakumbuh District, Payakumbuh City. This type of research is qualitative using descriptive methods. Data were obtained by literature study, observation, interviews and documentation. The object of research is Payuang Sarampak Dance at Sanggar Lindang Urek. The main instrument is the researcher himself and requires tools in collecting data in the field, namely stationery and cellphone cameras. Data analysis techniques are by means of data collection, data reduction, data presentation and data examination. The results showed that Payuang Sarampak Dance in Sanggar Lindang Urek, East Payakumbuh District, Payakumbuh City was arranged by Bambang Irawan and the results found were aspects of space, time and energy of Payuang Sarampak dance. The process of creating Payuang Sarampak dance began with Mr. Bambang Irawan inspired by everyday life, namely the association of Minangkabau youth and women who still uphold customs and religion. This dance has 23 varieties of movements. The costumes used by female dancers are baju kurung, songket, tokah, suntiang, necklace, koteh-koteh, lame, laca and flowers for headdress. While male dancers wear purple loose clothes, black pants, scarves, sides, belts and use headdresses. The musical instruments used are gandang, bass guitar, violin, hi-hat, talempong, bansi, sarunai, accordion and tasa.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the learning interest of students in the class of SMK Negeri 5 Padang and the factors that influence student interest in dance at SMK Negeri 5 Padang. This type of research is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. This research instrument: is the researcher himself and is assisted by supporting equipment such as stationery, mobile phones and recorders. Data collection techniques through literature study, observation, interviews and documentation the stages of exploratory analysis are data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. The lack of student interest in learning outside Dance in the material of the cultural arts teacher of SMK Negeri 5 Padang did not update the teaching material and also did not change the teaching method. Factors that influence student interest in non-dance education at SMK Negeri 5 Padang are internal and external factors.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to improve the learning outcomes of music ensembles of grade X students using the sampling method. E 3 SMA Negeri 1 Palupuh. This type of research is classroom action research. The tools used are teaching aids, student observation sheets and tests. Data were collected through observation, interviews, tests and documentation. The data is analyzed using a percentage formula. The results proved that the exemplary method used by teachers can improve the appearance and learning outcomes of students when learning similar musical compositions, namely piano ensembles. The percentage of student learning activities in the first cycle was paying serious attention to the explanation from the teacher 55.5%, doing questions and answers 44.4%, doing teacher orders 48.1%, appearing in groups in front of the class 100%. After making improvements, the percentage of student learning activities increased, namely paying serious attention to explanations from the teacher 81.4%, doing questions and answers 70.3%, doing teacher orders 74%, appearing in groups in front of the class 100%. The use of sampling methods in class X. E 3 also affects student learning outcomes. This can be seen from the percentage of completeness of student learning outcomes in the first cycle, namely. 55.6%, which rose to 81.48% in the second cycle. With the sampling method, the average student learning outcomes in the first period were 68.9 and the second period rose to 85.6 with good score criteria.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the addition of cultural arts learning outcomes by using internet learning media in cultural arts subjects at SMAN 1 Batipuh, Tanah Datar Regency. This instrument is made to be able to meet the data obtained from the influence of using the online learning environment. With the help of an online learning environment. This type of research is ex post facto research. The population of this study is students of grade XI Social Studies 1 SMAN 1 Batipuh for the 2022/2023 academic year. The sample was taken by proportional random sampling of 27 people. Information is collected through questionnaires. Statistical hypothesis techniques, descriptive analysis and correlation tests are used in the analysis of research materials. There is a relationship between the influence of learning interest and learning outcomes, namely rcalculate = 0.8819 > rtabel = 0.3809 which means there is a significant relationship between these variables.

Abstract

This study aims to determine students' interest in extracurricular singing at SMP Negeri 3 Lubuk Sikaping and what factors influence students' interest in participating in extracurricular singing activities at SMP Negeri 3 Lubuk Sikaping. The research method applied in this study is a descriptive approach in the form of qualitative research. The tool used in this research is the researcher himself who is actively involved in making direct observations in the field as the main method for collecting data. The data used consisted of primary and secondary data, which were collected through observation, interviews, literature study, and document collection. The data analysis process involved the clarification and summarisation stages. The research findings show that the implementation of extracurricular singing at SMP Negeri 3 Lubuk Sikaping which is carried out for the readiness of singing competitions such as FLS2N and other singing competitions has been successfully implemented well, but there are several obstacles in its implementation that are not in accordance with the activity programme so that extracurricular implementation is still less effective. In terms of the approach applied, teachers have chosen methods that are suitable for the content of the material. However, because the cultural arts teacher is a teacher who is not competent in the field of music. So that during the implementation of extracurricular singing the teacher is less able to know the technique of singing. Students who follow are less serious when extracurricular activities take place. Therefore, the achievement of the success rate in the implementation of extracurricular singing activities at SMP Negeri 3 Lubuk Sikaping has not been achieved.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to improve the learning outcomes of students' music ensembles using the peer tutor method in grade XI F 6 SMA Negeri 3 Padang. This study used Classroom Action Research. The research instrument is the researcher himself. Data collection techniques use observation, interviews, documentation and tests. The data is analyzed by a percentage formula. The use of peer teaching methods can improve students' ability to play ensembles at SMA Negeri 3 Padang. The application of peer tutor methods in learning mixed music ensembles in groups can raise students' enthusiasm and performance in learning activities. The results of learning completeness in cycle I were 60.25 with fairly good criteria, in cycle II learning completeness increased which was obtained 86.50 with good criteria. The increase from cycle I to cycle II was 26.25%.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the presence of saluang darek in Lubuk Tarok district, Sijunjung regency. This type of research is qualitative research with descriptive methods. This research instrument is the researcher himself and is assisted by supporting instruments such as stationery and mobile phones. The data in this study used primary data and secondary data. Data collection techniques are carried out by means of literature studies, observations, interviews and documentation. The steps of analyzing data are data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the existence of Saluang Darek in Lubuk Tarok kenagarian experienced stages of development starting from the first entry into Lubuk Tarok, but over time people's love began to fade for this art, even in recent years the traditional art of saluang darek began to be rarely seen used by the people of Lubuk Tarok in their party events. Saluang Darek traditional art is used by the people of Lubuk Tarok in several regional art events in Lubuk Tarok, such as the traditional malam bajago bakawua adat, acara malam bajago alek nikah kawin, malam bajago tagak galai, maarak marapulai dan malam bajago Lubuk Ban fish harvest, its function is as entertainment for the people of Lubuk Tarok.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of learning motivation on learning outcomes in cultural arts subjects of class X students of SMA N 3 Payakumbuh. This type of research is quantitative research. the population is all students of class X SMA N 3 Payakumbuh. The population is all class X students of SMA N 3 Payakumbuh, totalling 401 with a sample of 80 people. Data collection techniques in this study were questionnaires, documentation, observation and interviews. The data analysis technique was carried out by simple regression analysis using SPSS version 22 for windows. The results showed that there was a significant influence between learning motivation on the learning outcomes of class X students of SMA N 3 Payakumbuh, the rest with was the influence of other variables that were not included in the study. Average (Mean) learning motivation variables of class X SMA N 3 Payakumbuh students in the high category. Average (Mean) variable learning outcomes of class X SMA N 3 Payakumbuh students in the medium category.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the use of audio-visual media as a supporter of the role-playing method in learning theatre arts in class IX SMPN 3 Lubuk Sikaping. The type of research is qualitative with a descriptive analysis method. The object of this research is the use of audiovisual media in the learning theater at SMPN 3 Lubuk Sikaping. Data collection was done through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis was carried out with the steps of data collection, data reduction and categorization, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that learning cultural arts, especially theatre material (musical drama) in Class IX at SMPN 3 Lubuk Sikaping, was presented using audio-visual media as a support for the role-playing method applied to students to achieve competence in learning. Learning went well; students were more excited and more focused with the media. On the other hand the role-playing method used in this learning was also very attractive to students' interest in learning theatre. hand, the use of audio-visual media as a supporter of the role-playing method in learning theatre arts in class IX at SMPN 3 Lubuk Sikaping is very influential in improving student learning outcomes and increasing student interest in honing the potential that exists in themselves.
