This journal published twice a year (June and November) by Prodi Pendidikan Matematika STKIP PGRI Sumatera Barat. All submitted manuscripts will be initially reviewed by editors and are then evaluated by minimum of two Reviewers through the double-blind review process. This is to ensure the quality of the published manuscripts in the journal. Lemma : Letters of Mathematics Education welcomes high-quality manuscripts resulted from a research project in the scope of mathematics education, which includes, but is not limited to the following topics: Realistic Mathematics Education, Design/Development Research in Mathematics Education, PISA Task, Mathematics Ability, ICT in Mathematics Education, Lesson Study for Learning Community, and Ethnomathematics. The manuscript must be original research, written in English or Bahasa Indonesia, and not be simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference.

Abstract

Pada umumnya siswa memandang matematika sebagai pelajaran yang sulit dipahami, sehingga membuat siswa cenderung memusuhi pelajaran matematika. Dengan demikian, sangat dibutuhkan peran guru dalam mengembangkan metode pembelajaran agar matematika lebih mudah untuk dipahami peserta didik dan lebih menyenangkan sehingga timbul ketertarikan siswa dalam mempelajari matematika, jika minat belajar siswa meningkat terhadap pelajaran matematika maka di harapkan dapat meningkatkan juga hasil belajar matematika. Metode yang digunakan untuk menganalisis data adalah metode quasi eksperien, sedangkan pengujian hipotesis menggunakan anava 2 arah dan selanjutnya menggunakan uji-t , yang sebelumnya telah di lakukan uji normalitas menggunakan uji liliefors dan uji homogenitas menggunakan uji fisher. Berdasarkan dari uji hipotesis yang dilakukan dengan menggunakan anava 2 arah. Terdapat pengaruh metode pembelajaran terhadap hasil belajar matematika. Hal ini dapat dibuktikan dengan nilai F0= 19.977 dan Sig. = 0.000 < 0.05. Terdapat pengaruh minat belajar siswa terhadap hasil belajar matematika. Hal ini dapat dibuktikan dengan nilai F0= 18.975 dan Sig. = 0.000 < 0.05. Terdapat pengaruh interaksi antara metode pembelajaran dan minat belajar siswa terhadap hasil belajar matematika. Hal ini dapat dibuktikan dengan nilai F0= 4.837 dan Sig. 0.032 <0.05.  Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh antara metode pembelajaran dan minat belajar terhadap hasil belajar Eksperimen.

Abstract

Penelitian ini untuk mengeksplorasi perilaku metakognitif siswa dalam memecahkan masalah matematika dengan menggunakan pembelajaran Kooperatif tipe Think-Pair-Share di SMPN 1 Kecamatan Situjuh Limo Nagari. Tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui: 1) bagamana perilaku metakognitif siswa  laki-laki  dalam  memecahkan masalah  matematika? 2)  bagamana perilaku  metakognitif siswa perempuan dalam memecahkan masalah matematika? Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMPN  1  Kecamatan  Situjuh  Limo  Nagari  tahun  akademik  2010/2011. Peneitian  ini  menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif melalui observasi dan mewawancarai siswa untuk mengukur perilaku metakognitif mereka dalam memecahkan masalah. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah: 1)beberapa perilaku metakogntif siswa laki-laki dalam memecahkan masalah matematika adalah: mereka  telah  memiliki kepercayaan sebelum mengawali pemecahan masalah, mereka mampu untuk mendapatkan informasi dari beberapa item, mampu untuk menjalankan langkah-langkah dari pemecahan masalah, tapi mereka yang tidak   mempunyai   kemampuan   untuk   menyimpulkan  dalam   pemecahan   masalah;   mereka   tidak mempunyai  pengorganisasian diri  baik  dalam  memahami  masalah,  dan  dalam  mengevaluasi dalam memecahkan masalah; 2) Beberapa perilaku metakognitif siswa perempuan dalam memecahkan masalah matematika adalah: mereka punya intuisi sebelum memulai memecahkan masalah matematika; Mereka mendapatkan informasi dari beberapa item, dapat menjalankan langkah-langkah dari pemecahan masalah, tapi mereka tidak mempunyai kemampuan untuk menyelesaikan dan menyimpulkan masalah; Mereka punya pengorganisasian diri baik di dalam memahami masalah, kepercayaan diri untuk mengevaluasi dalam memecahkan masalah

Abstract

This research was aimed at finding out (1) mathematic concept comprehention skills and mathematic problem solving skills, (2) mathematic concept comprehention skills and mathematic problem solving skills of students based on high and low knowledge, and (3) the interaction between of problem centered learning with the grade of primary ability in influencing the mathematic concept comprehention skills and mathematic problem solving skills. This research is a quasi-experimental research. Sample of this research is students at X Sains 2 SMAN 1 Lembah Gumanti and students at X Sains 1 SMAN 1 Hiliran Gumanti. The accumulation of data using test and the analysis of data by statistical. The results showed that (1) mathematic concept comprehension skills and mathematic problem solving skills of the students who were taught by using problem centered learning had high score than the students whose where taught by using conventional model 2) mathematic concept comprehension skills and mathematic problem solving skills of the students whose high primary ability that were taught by using problem centered learning had same score with the students who were taught by using conventional model 3) mathematic concept comprehension skills and mathematic problem solving skills of the students whose low primary ability that were taught by using problem centered learning had high score than the students who were taught by using conventional model 4)  whose were no interaction among the use of problem centered learning and the grade of primary ability in influencing the mathematic concept comprehention skills and mathematic problem solving skills.

Abstract

The problem in this research about the result of students learning outcomes are still low. This research aims to determine whether students learning outcomes by applying the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) type of cooperative learning model is better than studentsmathematics learning outcomes by applying conventional learningat Eight grade in Sijunjung 20 middle school. This type of research is an experiment. The population of this research was Eighth grade students of Sijunjung Middle School 20. The technique of sampling was done randomly, namely VIIIA as the experimental class and VIIIB class as the control class. The instrument used was the final test with the reliability of the test r11=0.928. The results of the final test analysis, namely the two classes of samples were normal and homogeneous. The data analysis technique used the one-party t-test with t-count = 0.767 and t-table = 1.678, then the hypothesis is rejected. It was concluded that the mathematics learning outcomes of students by applying the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) type of cooperative learning model were not better than students mathematics learning outcomes by applying conventional learning in class VIII of Sijunjung Middle School 20.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the problems in class VIII SMP Negeri 23 Padang, it is known that the learning process is still centered on the teacher and students only accept learning from the teacher, and students have difficulty answering problem-solving questions given by the teacher. To overcome these problems, researchers used the Problem Based Learning (PBL). This Problem Basead Learning model can assist students in solving problem-solving problems given by the teacher. This type of research is a descriptive study, with a one shot case study design. Sampling was done based on purposive sampling, the sample was taken class VIII.1. The instrument used in this study was an essay test. The results of the study revealed that the students' mathematical problem-solving abilities taught by the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model were still below the completeness of the KKM set by the SMP Negeri 23 Padang school. So, it can be concluded that the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model has not yet provided contribution to the learning success of students of SMP Negeri 23 Padang in grade VIII.1

Abstract

Mata kuliah Persamaan Diferensial Biasa (PDB) merupakan kelompok mata kuliah keahlian berkarya (MKB) pada Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika STKIP PGRI Sumatera Barat dengan bobot3 SKS. Untuk mencapai tujuan pembelajaran yang telah dirumuskan, diperlukan suatu bahan ajar yang dapat mengkover permasalahan-permasalahan yang muncul terkait dengan keterbatasan sumber belajaryang tersedia. Lembar Kerja Mahasiswa (LKM) merupakan salah satu bentuk bahan ajar yang dapat digunakan dalam perkuliahan PDB.  Pengembangan LKM  berbasis  Problem Based  Learning  (PBL) memberi peluang kepada mahasiswa untuk terampil dalam memahami konsep melalui masalah-masalah yang disediakan. Oleh karena itu, CD interaktif dapat digunakan untuk membuat konsep abstrak menjadikongkrit melalui visualisasi statis maupun animasi. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan. LKMdan CD interaktif dikembangkan dengan menggunakan model 4D (define, design, develop, dan desseminate). Pada  tahap  ini  dilakukan langkah-langkah seperti analisis silabus, analisis buku teks, analisis literatur, analisis karakteristik mahasiswa dan wawancara dengan teman sejawat. Abstract

Based on a pre-observation and interview on the Mathematics Padang Panjang teachers, it was found that the instructional materials they used have not yet facilitate the students to construct their own learning in Mathematics. The purposes of this research were to develop a Constructivism learning materials for 5th Grade Elementary School students in Padang Panjang, consisted of lesson plan, hand out, and student worksheet. The learning materials were developed use models Cooperative Learning. This research was a combination of Research and Development (R & D) and Experimental. Based on the data analysis, the findings of this research were: (1) The Cooperative instructional materials for 5th Grade Mathematics was found “valid” for its content and construct (content and construct validity). (2) The Cooperative instructional materials which had been developed fulfill the practicality and that it can be easily used by the teachers without any difficulty. The conclusion of this research is that the Constructivism-based instructional materials with cooperative learning model are: (1) Generated, Hand - outs are valid and  meet the requirements of teaching materials is good, (2) LKS in the category is valid , and can be used with minor revisions, (3) RPP compiled in the category is valid and can be used with minor revisions, (4) Prototype handouts , worksheets , and lesson plans produced has good practicalities.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) describe the implementation of mathematics learning using a cooperative learning model type think pair share to improve understanding of mathematical concept and learning motivation of student, (2) describe the results of an increase in concept understanding and learning motivation of students in class VIII B of SMP Negeri 3 Ponorogo through cooperative learning model type think pair share. This research is a classroom action research (CAR) with data sources include all students of class VIII B consist of 30 students. This  study was conducted in two cycles with each cycle includes four phases: planning, implementation, monitoring/ observation, reflection. The results showed that: (1) the learning process using cooperative learning model TPS in the second cycle has been entered in the excellent category; (2) indicator of the ability to understand mathematical concepts in the second cycle, all indicators have reached very good categories; (3) learning motivation of students in the second cycle reached a score of 67,75% include in the high category. Thus, it can be concluded that the study with cooperative learning model of think pair share the type can improve the understanding of mathematical concepts and motivation of students in class VIII B of SMP Negeri 3 Ponorogo.

Abstract

AbstractStudents' abilities can be developed through lectures, one of which is variable Statistics. For the maximum tuition required of a material that can support course lectures. In Universitas Islam, Raden Rahmat, students only rely on one textbook only when the lectures, so the motivation and low student interest in learning. One way that can help make it easier for students is the use of textbooks using R software. This research aims to develop textbooks using R software that is valid, practical, and effective in statistics subjects in Universitas Islam Raden Rahmat. This study is a research development. This textbook was developed using the 4D model (define, design, develop, and disseminate). Phase disseminate not done. The data was collected with the validation and testing of the Textbook. The textbook is validated by the lecturer and expert statistics, as well as Indonesian lecturers. Tests were carried out on mathematics education students at Universitas Islam Raden Rahmat to know the textbook's praktikalitas and effectiveness. The results showed that: 1) Textbook is valid (including the content and construct validity) of the validator's point of view, 2) the use of Textbook in the lecture did not experience significant barriers. According to students and lecturers, the book is a practical work, and 3) Textbooks have been effective. This is evident from the activities of students and high motivation to learn after the lecture. Keywords: Development, Statistics, Text Book. AbstrakKemampuan mahasiswa dapat dikembangkan melalui perkuliahan, salah satunya pada mata kuliah  Statistik a. Agar perkuliahan maksimal diperlukan suatu materi yang dapat menunjang perkuliahan. Di Universitas Islam Raden Rahmat mahasiswa hanya mengandalkan satu buku ajar saja saat perkuliahan, sehingga motivasi dan minat belajar mahasiswa rendah. Salah satu cara yang dapat membantu memudahkan mahasiswa adalah penggunaan buku ajar menggunakan software R. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan buku ajar menggunakan software R yang valid, praktis dan efektif dalam mata pelajaran Statistik a di Universitas Islam Raden Rahmat. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan. Buku ajar ini dikembangkan dengan menggunakan model 4D (define, design, develop, dan disseminate). Fase disseminate tidak dilakukan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan validasi dan pengujian buku ajar. Buku ajar disahkan oleh dosen dan pakar Statistik a, serta dosen Bahasa Indonesia. Pengujian dilakukan pada mahasiswa manajemen Universitas Islam Raden Rahmat untuk mengetahui praktikalitas dan keefektifan buku ajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) buku ajar valid (termasuk validitas isi dan konstruk) dari sudut pandang validator, 2) penggunaan buku ajar dalam perkuliahan tidak mengalami hambatan yang berarti menurut mahasiswa dan dosen; dan 3) buku ajar sudah efektif. hal tersebut terlihat dari aktivitas mahasiswa dan motivasi belajar yang tinggi setelah perkuliahan. Kata Kunci: Pengembangan, Statistika, Buku Ajar.

Abstract

Pada Perkuliahan Kalkulus Peubah Banyak 1 (KPB 1) persentase jumlah mahasiswa yang mendapatkan nilai lebih dari 65 (kategori A dan B) adalah sebesar 52%. Ini artinya masih banyak mahasiswa yang mendapatkan nilai rendah. Selain itu pada proses perkuliahan mahasiswa juga kurang aktif, mereka hanya menunggu penjelasan dari dosen. Untuk menunjang proses perkuliahan yang baik dibutuhkan suatu bahan ajar yang mampu meningkatkan aktivitas dan hasil belajara mahasiswa. salah satu bahan ajar yang mampu memfasilitasi itu adalah Lembar Kerja Mahasiswa (LKM). Berdasarkan masalah tersebut maka dikembangkan LKM berbasis discovery learning. Setelah LKM dikembangkan maka dilihat efektivitas penggunaan LKM tersebut pada proses perkuliahan. Subjek penelitiannya adalah mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika STKIP PGRI Sumatera Barat sesi 2011 H  yang terdaftar mengambil mata kuliah Kalkulus Peubah Banyak 1. Penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa LKM mampu meningkatkan aktivitas mahasiswa dalam proses perkuliahan, selain itu juga mampu meningkatkan hasil belajar mahasiswa. Hasil tes yang diperoleh lebih dari 70% mahasiswa memperoleh nilai yang berkisar antara 65-100. Ini berarti pengembangan LKM berbasis discovery pada perkuliahan Kalkulus Peubah Banyak 1 dapat dikatakan efektif
