Abstract

Humans and suffering are inseparable because they complement each other throughout life. Basically, humans, as weak creatures, always seek religion as external guidance to support their lives. Therefore, we assert that religious premises serve as external power to help humans survive suffering by building an understanding of religion and suffering from the perspective of religious sociology and by offering an argument for how Job accepted suffering to show himself to be a religious man. In the last part of our paper, we will show that suffering forms a man as a religious man in the faith growth as part of the human life process.

Abstract

Contemporary Christian education faces epistemological challenges in integrating the pneumatological dimension into academic learning constructs shaped by the secularist paradigm. This study develops a theoretical framework for Pentecostal Christian education that integrates divine healing as a pedagogical epistemology through the Spirit-led learning model. Using an interpretive qualitative approach, this research integrates theological, phenomenological, and pedagogical analysis through bibliographic studies and analysis of healing experiences in the Pentecostal tradition. Findings show that divine healing has a holistic pedagogical dimension that is experiential, embodied, and communal, teaching faith that is not only conceptual but transformative. Spirit-led learning is synthesized from the convergence of Mezirow and Freire's transformational learning theory with Pentecostal pneumatology, placing the Holy Spirit as Magister Supremus in the pedagogical process. This model actualizes multidimensional transformation—cognitive, affective, and spiritual—while shifting the orientation of education from the transmission of knowledge to existential formation. The research produced pedagogical guidelines for implementation in formal and nonformal educational contexts that facilitate learners' holistic transformation.

Abstract

This article examines ulos as a symbol of hope and salvation in Batak culture and how this symbol can be refigured in the light of the Gospel through Paul Ricoeur’s symbolic hermeneutics and Stephen Bevans’ contextual theology. The study explores the dynamic relationship between cultural symbols and divine revelation as a dialogical expression of faith and culture. Employing a qualitative–theological approach, it applies symbolic analysis to Batak cultural texts (rituals, narratives, and socio-spiritual meanings of ulos) and to relevant biblical passages, particularly John 1:14 and Revelation 21:3-5. The findings reveal that ulos mediates theological understanding of love, sacrifice, and hope, which are fundamentally consonant with the Gospel message of universal salvation in Christ. From a hermeneutic perspective, ulos functions as an incarnational sign of divine love that envelops humanity. Within a contextual–theological framework, it serves as a local vessel of divine revelation, connecting Christian faith to Batak cultural identity. This study concludes that the reinterpretation of local symbols, such as the ulos, is not merely cultural but deeply theological, an integral dimension of the Church’s effort to inculturate the Christian faith in Indonesia, thereby affirming the sacredness of local wisdom, meaning, and spiritual expression within the framework of the Gospel.

Abstract

Experts have their opinions on research to understand the text of Genesis 1:1-3. The investigation yielded mixed conclusions regarding the text. The reconstruction theory says the Genesis creation story is about reconstruction, not creation. Similarly, this description of the wilderness is combined with pre-creation imagery from ancient Southwest Asia, namely, darkness, the Great Ocean, and water. This prompted the need to study the parallel meaning of the texts of Genesis 1:1-3. The purpose of this writing is to know the meaning of the creation of the earth as the balance of ecosystems contained in Genesis 1:1-3. Researchers employ a qualitative research approach, using the source and meaning of words to interpret the text. The results of this study are that Genesis 1:1-3 provides the meaning that the people's belief in the sovereign God as the creator brings prosperity to all of His creation.

Abstract

The question of women’s participation in divine healing remains significant within Pentecostal theology, which affirms the universality of the Spirit’s gifts yet often limits women’s embodied agency in practice. This study addresses the gap between theological potential and ecclesial reality by examining how women’s bodies function as instruments of divine healing rather than passive vessels. Using a qualitative historical-theological literature review supported by narrative analysis, the research interprets biblical, patristic, medieval, and Pentecostal texts that portray women as active participants in healing events, with attention to gestures, presence, and embodied acts that reveal cooperation between the embodied helper and the Divine Helper. The findings show that women across different periods exercised agency through physical action, symbolic gestures, ascetic practices, and relational presence, each serving as a locus where divine power becomes visible. These patterns demonstrate that healing arises through a synergistic partnership between human embodiment and the work of the Holy Spirit. The study concludes that recognizing women’s embodied agency is essential for a coherent Pentecostal theology of healing while calling churches to affirm and cultivate women as legitimate agents of divine healing.

Abstract

This study examines the development of Paulin-based apologetic spirituality as a theological strategy to address the proliferation of heretical teachings in cyberspace. Through qualitative research employing a biblical-theological methodology, this study analyzes the Pauline corpus to construct contemporary apologetic frameworks. The findings reveal that Paul's apologetic methodology in Acts 17:16-34 and 1 Corinthians 9:19-23 provides relevant theological foundations for confronting digital-era deceptions. The study concludes that Paulin's apologetic spirituality, characterized by contextual adaptation, intellectual engagement, and pastoral sensitivity, offers practical strategies for maintaining doctrinal integrity while engaging contemporary challenges in digital spaces. Abstrak Strategi teologis menghadapi proliferasi ajaran sesat di ruang siber.
